Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 The Past is Gone

Outside a newbie village, a team of experienced players from the beta test ran out of the newbie area to find suitable prey. After more than ten minutes of searching, they finally found and surrounded a level 10 Earth Thorn Turtle.

The Earth Thorn Turtle was the lowest-difficulty elite monster near their newbie village. It had low agility and strength but terrifyingly high constitution and physical resistance. Its only two attack methods were the long and obvious pre-attack animation of its Earth Spikes and bites.

The expert players, relying on their rich combat experience and meticulous micro-control, successfully pulled it around in circles, madly scraping it.

Equipped with Refined Iron Long Swords, their regular attacks could deal 3 * 12 = 36 points of physical damage each time, minus the Earth Thorn Turtle's high physical resistance of up to 29 points, resulting in 7 points of damage per scrape.

The Earth Thorn Turtle had a constitution of up to 25 points and a total of 2500 health points. It could also recover 0.25 health points per second.

However, the players' constitution was only 3 points, which meant that they had to distance themselves to recover stamina every two regular attacks.

This was destined to be a prolonged battle. The expert players didn't dare to relax in the slightest, as they were all only level 1. Any hit would send them back to the spawn point.

After more than ten minutes of intense and focused high-intensity combat, the Earth Thorn Turtle's health was finally on the verge of danger.

The players were excited. Soon, they would be able to take down the server-wide first kill and achieve the achievement.

Just as they were only a few hits away from victory, a system broadcast suddenly appeared in their view. The player who was dodging the Earth Thorn Turtle's attacks stood still, stunned, and was sent back to the newbie village in one blow.

[Server Announcement: Congratulations to player "Turn Away" for completing the server-wide first kill of the [Elite] Position Monster and achieving the "Elite Killer i" achievement.]

[The Chaotic Rock Cave], Somewhere in the Underground Space.

The clusters of luminous mushrooms were violently ravaged, and a huge wild boar lay on the ground. A giant lizard, fifteen meters long, had its claws on the wild boar, howling towards the sky.

Unexpectedly, there was another surprise!

[Achievement: Elite Killer i]

[Effect: All attributes +1, Attack Coefficient +1, Damage to [Elite] Position Monsters +10%]

[Next Stage Requirement: Server-wide first kill of [Red Name Elite] Position Monster.]

[You have unlocked a new achievement and gained 50 design points.]

Kent nodded in satisfaction. Apart from not needing the bonus to damage against elite monsters for the time being, the other two bonuses were great. Not to mention the design points.

If there was a first kill for [Elite] monsters, there must be one for [Red Name Elite] monsters as well. Kent bent down to feast, calculating in his mind to go find a red-name elite to kill for the first time.

Soon, after swallowing the Rock Armor Wild Boar, Kent listed the last fine-grade equipment on the Exchange and scanned the trading interface casually.

He found that besides him, another lucky person was selling fine-grade equipment, but this guy chose to trade in cash.

Looking at the "Fire Wolf Battle Robe" sold for $150,000, Kent couldn't help but be amazed. These rich kids were really rich.

He listed the "Windbreaking Bow" for 200 silver coins, which was 100 silver coins more expensive than the NPC shop's price, but this kind of long-range weapon that couldn't be bought in the early stages would sell.

While waiting for the trade, he took a look at the private chat interface, and suddenly a private message from an ID named "Prophet" caught his attention.

In Immortal, player nicknames could be repeated, but except for the first one, the following ones would have suffixes, and the system would prompt the player when creating a character.

So he instantly understood that the other party was not fabricating their identity. They were the legendary figure in the game, Prophet, the biggest information broker.

Kent clicked on this private chat request, and the first thing the other party said was:

[Prophet: Turn Away, hello. I would like to purchase a fine-grade weapon, but I haven't raised enough in-game currency yet. If you're willing, I can buy it for $200,000, or I hope you can extend me credit, starting from the moment of credit, with an additional 1% interest per hour.]

He pondered for a moment, realizing that establishing a good relationship with the game's legendary figure and the biggest information broker, Prophet, would outweigh the disadvantages, so he readily agreed.

[Turn Away: I'm not interested in money. It's fine to extend your credit.] At the same time, he sent a screenshot of the attributes of the "Silver Longbow" and asked the other party to quote a price.

[Prophet: Another long-range weapon, I'm grateful to you. Let's price it according to the "Windbreaking Bow" you just listed, and I'll add 50 silver coins to that price.]

[Turn Away: Sure.]

After that, he traded the "Silver Longbow" to Prophet.

Meanwhile, in a certain urban village in City S, Blue Star Country, a dilapidated residential building.

The chubby man in the shirt, after repeatedly pressing the doorbell to no avail, used the key from his waist to open the door.

"Damn Kent, how long are you going to delay the rent this month! You don't reply to messages, you don't answer calls, there's no response to the doorbell, could you be dead?"

He grumbled as he walked into the narrow and cramped room.

The messy room was empty at a glance.

"What's going on? I saw on the surveillance that he entered the room five days ago and hasn't come out since."

The landlord walked to the window, pulled open the curtains, and looked down, but there was no one.

"No one has ever escaped paying me a single penny of rent!"

The landlord, furious, began to inspect the room and found the phone sitting lonely on the table. A set of clothes was scattered on the gaming chair, with a wallet inside the pants containing an ID card and a bank card.

On the clothes lay an *Immortal* holographic helmet.

His face became ugly, and with a furrowed brow, he opened the phone's contacts and made a call after searching for a while.

Generally speaking, it's useless for a landlord to report a missing tenant to the police, so he called his nephew, who was the captain of the criminal investigation team in the city.

After a brief exchange, his nephew agreed to handle the matter.

The landlord, with a worried look on his face, stepped out of the door and started smoking. This didn't seem like someone running away to avoid paying rent...
