Chapter 33 - How To Direct A Photoshoot

Gabriella was an expert at orchestrating a seamless photoshoot, and she knew delegation was key. She gathered her five employees and assigned them tasks to ensure everything ran smoothly.

"Selene, you're in charge of all the photography. Start with the 'before' shots, capturing the models' natural looks. Once the makeup is applied, move on to the 'after' shots. Ensure the lighting highlights the makeup's texture and color," Gabriella instructed, breaking down her words for emphasis.

"You can count on me, Gabs." Selene's expression turned theatrically solemn, as if she were a knight swearing an oath to defend her master. "I'll do my absolute best!" she declared with unbridled passion before skipping away to join the photographers, her enthusiasm both infectious and amusing. The remaining four turned their attention back to Gabriella, eagerly awaiting their own assignments.

Gabriella couldn't help but smile at Selene's spirited response. "Alright, let's keep this momentum going," she said, her eyes scanning the group with a newfound warmth.

"Bloom," Gabriella called, her arms folded as she faced the pristine Goth, earning an immediate response from her. Bloom straightened her body as Gabriella continued, "You'll handle all the video footage. Document the makeup application process for the tutorial videos. Get close-ups of the products being used, and record the models as they explain their experiences. Make sure the footage is clear and engaging." She paused, scanning Bloom for any trace of disapproval. However Gabriella knew it was fruitless, as her eyes couldn't be seen behind all that hair.

"Think you can handle all that?" Gabriella challenged, her voice carrying a tone of both authority and intrigue. The room tensed, every eye on Bloom. The goth was hard to read, and everyone was eager to hear Bloom's reply.

Bloom took a deep breath, a slight smile playing on her lips as she responded:

"With brushes and shades, cameras in tow,

Capture the magic, let the creativity flow.

Tasks on our plates, challenges set,

We'll crush it all, you can make that a bet."

Pak!... Pak!... Pak!...

A moment of silence followed, then the tension broke with a string of single, awkward claps. Everyone threw questioning looks at Ortega, who had jammed his palms together with an exaggeratedly awed expression. It was no surprise to them that Bloom liked to rhyme whenever she was met with a challenge. "It's my thing," she would simply say if anyone asked why.

He paused, noticing their gazes on him, and blurted, "What? She's really good!"

The room erupted in laughter. Ortega's enthusiasm was contagious, his over-the-top reaction making the moment even more hilarious. Even Gabriella's challenging demeanor softened into a smile, shaking her head in amusement. The ladies laughed heartily, the jolliness spreading through the room.

Bloom's slight smile widened just a bit, her eyes sparkling behind the veil of hair. She gave a subtle nod to Ortega, appreciating his unexpected support. The room buzzed with newfound energy, the initial tension dissolving into camaraderie and shared humor.

"Eva, you'll coordinate with the makeup artists." Gabriella looked at her as she spoke, the chatter dying down. "Ensure they have all the products and tools they need. Keep the workflow smooth so that each model transitions from the makeup station to the photography and videography areas seamlessly."

Eva smiled confidently, knowing the task was perfect for her. "You know me too well, Gabs. Coordination's my forte," she said in a self-assured tone.

Dina, however, rolled her eyes with pocketed arms. "And how does that make you special?" she asked Eva with a superior look. "Like, it's basically what we're all doing."

Without missing a beat, Eva shot back with a smirk, "Oh, Dina, sweetie, there's a difference between doing the job and owning it. Maybe one day you'll figure it out."

"Whaaat?!" Dina blurted, her eyes widening in shock.

"Did she just—?" another girl whispered, her mouth agape.

Ortega couldn't contain himself. "She got roasted, girl, that's what's up!" he exclaimed, practically doubling over with laughter.

The room buzzed with a mixture of awe and amusement, the tension dissolving into playful banter as everyone marveled at Eva's quick wit. Even Gabriella had to stifle a chuckle, shaking her head as she watched the exchange.

"Dina," Gabriella began, the tomboy holding her breath as she listened, "You'll be the point person for the models. Make sure they're comfortable and know where they need to be at all times. Provide them with water and snacks, and give them pep talks if they're nervous. Ensure they follow the schedule."

Dina gave an enthusiastic grunt, her face brimming with determination. "I'll have them all pumped up for the shoot, literally and figuratively." She assured Gabriella, then turned to the fray of models with a wide grin. "Alright, girls, hope you like things hot, 'cause I'm about to get your asses fired up!"

Her fierceness was infectious, and the women couldn't help but feel better about themselves. A few even blushed, looking at her with sparkles in their eyes.

Ortega watched the goings-on of Dina's pep rally, suddenly realizing what he hadn't seen before. Of course, Dina's gay! It all added up: her tomboyish aura, and the way she brushed off his cliche pick-up line the first time they met. He also couldn't deny how interacting with her always gave him a "bro" vibe.

"And Ortega," Gabriella turned to him with a twinkle in her eye, "You have the most crucial task of all. You will be the official 'Lipstick Shadewatcher.' Your job is to make sure every model's lipstick shade matches perfectly with their assigned outfit and accessories. If even a hint of clashing occurs, it's your responsibility to alert the makeup artist and get it fixed immediately."

She winked, "It's a crucial detail, Ortega, and I'm counting on your impeccable taste."

Ortega chuckled, knowing she was teasing him, but he took the assignment in stride. "Got it, Gabriella. No lipstick shall clash on my watch," he said, hoping to keep everyone entertained.

Gabriella grinned, satisfied with his response.

With tasks delegated, everyone sprang into action. Selene set up her camera and adjusted the lighting, ensuring each shot was perfectly framed. Bloom positioned her camera for the tutorial videos, capturing every brushstroke and blend. Eva coordinated with the makeup artists, making sure they had all the products and tools they needed. Dina kept the models relaxed and on schedule, offering words of encouragement and snacks.

Ortega, meanwhile, scrutinized every lipstick application with a serious, discerning eye. He took his task with an amusing level of dedication, making sure each model's lipstick was a perfect match to their ensemble. His exaggerated seriousness brought smiles and laughter, lightening the mood and easing any remaining tension.

As the day progressed, Gabriella moved between the teams, offering guidance and support. Her keen eye for detail ensured that every element of the photoshoot aligned with the vision they had meticulously planned. The 'before' and 'after' shots came out beautifully, capturing the striking transformations the new makeup line could achieve. The tutorial videos, filmed with precision, were engaging and informative, showcasing step-by-step processes and highlighting the unique features of each product.

The models, initially nervous, radiated confidence under the team's care. Makeup artists worked their magic, enhancing natural features while photographers captured each moment with perfect lighting and angles. Hair stylists added the finishing touches, creating cohesive looks that complemented the makeup. Each model, under the reassuring words and gentle direction of the team, blossomed in front of the camera.

By the end of the day, Gabriella was pleased with the results. Each team member had executed their tasks flawlessly. The photographers had captured the essence of the transformations, the makeup artists had created looks that were both innovative and wearable, and the stylists had ensured every detail was impeccable. Even Ortega's humorous yet crucial role as the on-set morale booster had added an unexpected layer of charm to the process, keeping the atmosphere light and lively.

His witty remarks and infectious laughter had kept spirits high, ensuring that everyone remained relaxed and focused.

The photoshoot was a resounding success, showcasing the transformative power of their new makeup line and the collaborative spirit of the team. The before and after shots were not just about the physical changes; they also reflected the newfound confidence and joy in the models' expressions. The tutorial videos, filled with practical tips and professional techniques, were poised to engage and inspire their audience.

Gabriella looked around at her team with pride. "Great job, everyone. We did it," she said, her voice filled with genuine appreciation.

The team shared high-fives and smiles, knowing they had created something truly special together. Their hard work, creativity, and teamwork had culminated in a project that not only showcased their skills but also the power of collaboration.

As they began to pack up, conversations buzzed with excitement about the day's success and the anticipation of the product launch.

The sense of accomplishment was palpable, and Gabriella knew that this was just the beginning of many more successful ventures.
