I'm really glad to see that more and more people are becoming more responsive to this story as time goes by. It really motivates me. Also, please read this author's note (AN) since I have some extra things to say about the story to help clarify something.
Also, this chapter contains erotic elements (this is a Rated M fic, after all) and a lot of what goes on inside Natsu and Erza's minds. This is how I wanted to write this chapter so there are more NaZa scenes.
I didn't know how to write it in and I was too lazy to do it, to be honest (sorry). But here's how her relationship with Natsu became mostly physical:
Erza has already tried on numerous occasions to get emotionally closer to Natsu, but he vehemently rejects her advances toward him. Desperate for Natsu's attention and feeling like she had to find any way to get closer to him, she arrives at the conclusion that maybe she should please Natsu with her body first and make him realize that she was only his to command-her heart, body, and soul. But Natsu is usually unresponsive towards her, so she continues to try, hopeful that she can get him excited enough to make him realize that it isn't so bad being with her.
That's it. Please enjoy :)
Chapter 20: Gift
Natsu was sitting on the edge of his bed, leaning his body forward with his hands crossed together with his elbows on his lap. He was half-naked with only his blanket covering his lap.
He seemed to be deep in thought but was interrupted when an equally naked woman hugged him from behind, her arms resting on top of his shoulders.
"What do you want for your birthday, Natsu?" Mira's naked body was partially covered by Natsu's sheets. She was cuddling him with her arms clinging to his back.
"You don't have to get me anything…" Natsu absently responded, making Mira pout and causing her to hit his back cutely.
"Come on! Take it seriously." She complained. Natsu was broken free of his thoughts and smirked at his girlfriend's reaction.
"I am serious. Having you is the greatest gift I could ever have." He cheesily proclaimed. Even though Mira heard these types of pickup lines from her boyfriend on a regular basis, she still couldn't help but feel her face heat up whenever he boldly flirts with her.
She loved it when he said these things because it made her feel like the most important in the world to him. She usually responded back with a clever quip of her own, but having just woken up and feeling naked (literally), her response was subdued this time.
"..." Mira stayed silent, the beautiful white skin of her face looking as red as a tomato.
"What, no reaction?" Natsu chuckled at her expense and ruffled her hair, standing up and causing the blanket to slide off of him, exposing his manhood. She didn't react much, considering the fact that she had already seen (and "used") it a lot of times, the novelty of it lost on her. She just continued cutely pouting at him.
"But if you really want to do something for me, then I'd rather just listen to you sing for me with your beautiful voice." Natsu teasingly grinned at her.
"Then… I'll make sure not to disappoint you," Mira said with a mischievous grin. It seems like she thought of something devious again. She was very comfortable being around Natsu, enough to make her pull small pranks and tease him to get his reaction. Oh, how cute her boyfriend was.
Natsu sweatdropped "Just don't overdo it…"
Mira sexily made her way to him from the bed, rubbing her body with his and looking at him in the eyes with a hint of amusement in them "Don't worry…" She put her mouth closer to his ear and sensually said "I won't.", as she nibbled on his earlobes.
"Ah! Mira…" Natsu hazily said. She really knew how to use his weak spots to her advantage.
Looking at his bedroom clock, she kissed him on the lips, and then made her way back to the bed and invited him back.
"It's not yet that late. Up for another round?" She kinkily suggested.
Natsu picked up on what she meant and smiled. "Always…" He said as he obliged Mira's request.
…
Someone could be seen walking towards the old basement in the guild.
"NATSUUU!" Erza screamed out before letting her body rest from exhaustion.
Erza was with Natsu in the old basement of the guild. The old basement of the guild was not used anymore because it was further away from the guild. When they last renovated the guild, they messed up the floor plans a little and moved the guild. They had to make a new basement that would give the barmaids an easier time. The old guild basement was not used much anymore and was last used as a temporary prison for an enemy of Fairy Tail. Erza brought Natsu down there knowing that no one goes there anymore, and also because she was excited at the prospect of doing it with Natsu so close to the guild.
When the trio of Natsu, Mira, and Erza got back to the guild, Gildarts called them up to his office as he promised, and scolded them. He told them that Fairy Tail members don't fight and that they should make up. But his worries were quickly put to rest when they explained that Natsu had already apologized to Erza for both him and Mira.
It was awkward to be around them for a while, with the memory of their tense showdown still fresh in the guild members' minds, but after some time, everything went back to normal. But this didn't mean that they were on speaking terms again. Despite resolving the matter with Gildarts, an invisible line was formed between Erza and Mira.
Erza was the first to break the ice and asked Natsu if he could go with her on another mission. But this time, Mira refused. The guild was tense again, thinking that they would have another fight, but surprisingly, Erza just went along with it. Mira told her that she could take Natsu on missions, but that she would have to tag along as well.
Erza wasn't too excited at the prospect of being alone with Natsu and Mira. Knowing how much they flirt, she wasn't confident that she could hold herself back from beating the crap out of Mira. That would undoubtedly piss Natsu off.
Begrudgingly, Erza had to relent this time if she was to avoid suspicion. Now that Gildarts was finally off her back (he listened to the cause of their fight where Erza said she went on missions with Natsu because she trusted him the most). She didn't want to deal with someone else for now. If she was going to get Natsu, she had to be more discreet about it. God knows what she would do if someone finds out about her and Natsu. And knowing Natsu, he would definitely hate her if she hurts someone again.
And just as their missions alone together usually went, they did as they pleased with each other's bodies in the guild's old basement; Erza having sex with love in mind, and Natsu taking his feelings out on her body. Thinking that it was any consolation, he did his best to think of Erza as Mira whenever they had sex.
"Happy birthday, Natsu." Erza panted out.
It was Natsu's birthday. She took Natsu out of his party saying that she needed to give him his gift as an excuse. Since Mira wouldn't allow her to have her private time with Natsu, Erza had to find another way to get him alone.
"Thanks…" Natsu let out, also a bit out-of-breath from their workout.
"Could I lie down on your chest?" Erza shyly requested, but did it anyway without waiting for a response. She wanted to get closer to his warmth.
"I'm sorry I forced you down here even if it's your birthday. After weeks of not being able to have my privacy with you, I just couldn't hold myself back any longer."
"..."
"I know that you find me annoying. I'm sorry for being so forceful..." Seeing no response from him, she continued to try to get a reaction out of him.
"..."
"But I hope you know that I'm only doing this because of how much I love you." Erza looked up at him.
"..."
Whenever she did something that Natsu didn't like, his number one solution was to ignore her, as if to let her know that he wasn't interested. It was also a passive-aggressive way of letting her know he was mad.
She understood where he was coming from, and she felt a pang in her chest whenever he did this, but she told herself that this would be all worth it eventually. She would bear with this no matter how long it took.
"Natsu, do you hate me?" Erza clutched the hand on his chest tighter. Natsu was surprised by her question. This was the first time she asked that straight out.
Did he hate her? Sure, he was mad at her for making him do things with her that he promised to only do with Mira. He was angry that she had the audacity to force him into a relationship with her now that he already found someone who can return his love. She already had his heart once and took it for granted. In his mind, she didn't have the right to tell him she loves him anymore.
He didn't like how she went about expressing her love. He had to deal with the heartbreak of always playing the second fiddle to Jellal in Erza's life, so couldn't she just be happy for him now that he had someone that was more important to him than anyone else? Is it okay for her to steal him away when he didn't even think of doing that when she was still hung up on Jellal? It was unfair, and there were times when he couldn't even stand to look at her.
But at the end of the day, he had a strong bond with Erza that he couldn't quite put his finger on. They were close to each other since they were kids, and he was the first person Erza opened up to since joining the guild. They eventually reached a point in their friendship where they knew exactly what the other was thinking. They had similar quirks and weren't afraid to embarrass themselves to do what they really wanted. Erza was able to put up with him for the longest time, so his admiration morphed into something else. He realized that no matter what he did, she was the one person who would stick by his side.
When he got together with Mira, and Erza announced her relationship with Jellal, Natsu couldn't be happier. After years of painfully watching her go after Jellal, they were finally together. This gave him a sense of closure. Now that they had both moved on, things would only continue to get better. That's what he believed.
And yet even now, despite all the new sides of Erza he was introduced to, he still felt a sense of comfort around her. He knew that the past was catching up to him, and there were times when he was close to reciprocating Erza's advances, but the only thing that stopped him was Mira. So if he wasn't Mira's boyfriend, would he still have accepted Erza into his arms again?
It was possible, no matter how slim a chance he thought it was.
Even after all she's put him through, he couldn't bring himself to cut her out of his life permanently. She had been a comfortable presence in his life for so long that he couldn't imagine what it would be like without her. But now, this sentiment was reserved in a platonic sense. He believed that he wasn't interested in a romance with her anymore. Not for a long time now.
He was still confused about what he felt about her. But does he hate her?-
"No," Natsu answered.
"Then do you love me?" Erza was happy to hear that he didn't hate her.
"No." He answered fast, causing Erza to don a sad expression on her face. After all this time, he still couldn't feel anything for her.
"If you weren't with anyone, and I was able to realize I loved you sooner, would you have loved me again?" Natsu was surprised. It was as if she read his mind.
Seeing his silence as a no, Erza continued "You know, when I was a kid, I always dreamed of my prince charming who would rescue me from the Tower of Heaven." Natsu intently listened to her, curious about what else she had to say.
"You see, I was a real crybaby back then. Without Uncle Rob and the others, I probably wouldn't have survived that place."
"It was like being in a dark room with no way out. But then, I saw a light."
"When Jellal reached his hand out to me and gave me my last name, I was smitten." She chuckled lightly. "He gave me strength when I was at my weakest, and that newfound hope I received was enough to turn from admiration into love. I had been pulled out of that darkness"
"So after I lost that light, my heart became dark and cold again. I despised Zeref's followers so much that I made it my goal to bring justice back to the world and save those who didn't have the power to do so, just as Jellal and the others did for me."
"I shut myself off because I didn't want anyone to deal with me and my problems. I had such a hard time opening up that I realized it was time to stop trying so hard. I was just wasting my time and effort."
"And then I met you. That was the first time I realized that I was lonely." She snaked her arm around him.
"When you gave me that Christmas present for the first time, you made me realize that I was still a slave to my own past. I tried to run away from it so badly that I ended up letting it take control of me."
"So when you spent that Christmas with me, I realized that you were the reason why I am able to embrace happiness again." She snuggled closer to him as she said this.
"But then he came back, and I was confused again. My feelings were all over the place. I struggled between developing my love for you and the love I already held for him. So I decided to follow my heart at the time."
"Even though he kept leaving me, it was comfortable for the longest time to just accept that I still had feelings for him. You were anything but my ideal prince charming, so I just couldn't accept the fact that I had already fallen for you." Natsu's eyes widened.
"My heart had finally made its decision when I saw you with Mira that night. I was so hurt when you got together for the first time. I stormed out of the guild and cried myself to sleep that night. It was then that I knew I loved you, not Jellal. I hated myself so much at that moment. I was too late in returning your feelings that you gave it to someone else."
"It was excruciating to know that your heart already belonged to Mira. So I did my best to forget about you and focus on Jellal. I figured I would rather pine for a guy who's never around rather than a guy I couldn't have."
"And for a while, it worked. Jellal was the only man on my mind. But I would be lying if I said you didn't enter the back of my thoughts from time to time."
"Looking back on the time I spent with you, I realized that I didn't want my prince charming anymore. I just wanted you, Natsu"
"..." Erza ended her confession by looking at Natsu in the eyes.
"Why are you telling me these things?" Natsu coldly looked at Erza in the eyes, raising his body that was on its back by propping his elbows on the floor.
Erza sighed "I just wanted to let you know, I guess."
"Why do you always have to make things so hard, Natsu?" Erza thought in her mind.
Massaging Natsu's arm until her hands made their way to his hands, Erza noticed something "Natsu, you're not wearing the gift I gave you?"
Natsu looked at his wrist and realized she was right.
"Come on~ I poured my heart into getting that for you." Erza cutely pouted. But Natsu was unaffected by her.
"Fine." Natsu got Erza off his chest and went to find his pants, where he put her gift.
"Thank you." Erza smiled seeing Natsu wear her gift.
"Do I really have to wear this? It looks like something a woman would wear." Natsu complained. Erza got him a golden bracelet with a red Fairy Tail insignia on it.
"I know, but that bracelet can store magic. When I was buying this, I knew it was the perfect gift for you." Erza referenced his love of fighting.
"I'm not as addicted to fighting as I was back then," Natsu stated matter-of-factly.
"So you don't want it?" Erza looked at him with sad eyes, almost as if she was gonna cry if he threw her gift away.
"No, it can still come in handy." Natsu surrendered, getting Erza to light up in response. He was hopeless.
Natsu was too busy listening to Erza's story that he didn't sense the footsteps making their way down to the old guild basement.
"Natsu?" A new voice made its presence felt. Natsu felt his heart stop.
Looking at the entrance of the old guild basement, Natsu looked at an equally shocked Mira.
…
Earlier in the day, the guild celebrated Natsu's birthday. Just like Master Makarov's birthday, Natsu's acquaintances from his adventures and other guilds dropped by.
Natsu returned the greetings and gifts with his biggest smile as a way of saying thanks.
"Happy birthday, Natsu-san!" Sting happily greeted.
"Thanks, man." He held out his hand "So where's your gift for me?" He asked jokingly.
Mira lightly nudged him in the ribs. "Natsu!"
Natsu laughed and said that he was just joking.
For the next hour, the guests and the guild's members caught up with each other. Mira excused herself at one point, so Natsu was left to his own devices.
Jellal was also back at the guild with the former members of Crime Sorciere.
"Great to see you, Natsu. Happy birthday." Jellal greeted him as he approached their table.
The rest of them followed suit.
"Happy birthday, blockhead." Ultear teased him, earning her a "Hey!" from Natsu.
Jellal, Meredy, and Ul just watched their exchange with nervous chuckling and a sweatdrop.
Natsu's birthday was almost like an excuse for everyone to catch up with one another and meet new people.
The highlight of his birthday was when the lights suddenly closed in the guild, and the spotlight turned on to the guild's stage. Mira stood at the center of the stage, going the whole nine yards in terms of her appearance. She wore a beautiful dress she bought for this special occasion and she put more effort into her makeup than usual. She wanted to make her birthday gift for Natsu as perfect as possible.
"Mira? What's this about?" Natsu asked. He was wondering where she went off to.
"I'm giving you your birthday gift." She answered from the stage.
Natsu blushed, misunderstanding what she meant "Y-you're my gift?"
The others blushed as well when he said this. He better not do anything with Mira while they were all watching.
"Yes!" Mira smiled brightly at him. Mira got her guitar ready and sat down on the stool behind her. "I'll sing you a song I know you'll love."
Natsu comically crashed into the ground. Looking back on his conversation with her a few days ago, he remembered. "I forgot about that." He said from the floor. The other members of the guild breathed a sigh of relief.
Mira began her performance. Natsu was mesmerized by her voice.
The song Mira chose was a lullaby her parents used to sing to Lisanna when she was a kid. Others watched with interest, more so on the person singing. But Natsu was captivated by her. In his eyes, she looked like an angel.
From the huge crowd that gathered in front of the guild stage, Erza blended in and watched Natsu's reaction with a hint of anger on her face.
After Mira's performance was over, Natsu walked up to her and hugged her in front of everyone. Everyone cooed and cheered for the couple. Erza couldn't take it anymore and discreetly stormed out of the crowd, hatching a plan in her mind to get back at Mira.
Once the crowd dispersed and everyone was back to chatting with each other, Mira was back to being by Natsu's side.
"So, did you like my gift?" Mira smiled.
"It was the best!" Natsu gave a thumbs-up and gave his signature grin.
They had a great mood going until Jenny showed up and challenged Mira to another contest. Seeing the positive attention Mira got from her performance earlier, Jenny's competitive spirit as a fellow model was lit.
Mira initially refused, but when Jenny started flirting with Natsu under the guise of giving her "gift" to the birthday boy, Mira was determined to bring Jenny down.
And just like that, the guild's focus was on Mira again, but this time Jenny was sharing the attention. They did another model competition just like they did in the Grand Magic Games, much to the delight of the perverts and the old men.
Natsu was watching on the sidelines with a comical poker face, unsure of how to react to his girlfriend trying to entice the crowd into voting for her.
"Pssst." Natsu was broken out of his thoughts when he heard the interjection.
He wasn't sure if it was for him, but he looked around and sure enough, he immediately knew it was his attention that was being solicited.
Erza was hiding behind a pillar in the guild and waved him over. He had a feeling he knew what this was about.
"Why do I have to be the one coming to you?" Natsu complained, thinking that Erza could've just walked over to him normally.
"Follow me," Erza commanded, grabbing him by the wrist and turning around.
"Where are you gonna take me? Mira will look for me once she comes back." Natsu stood his ground. Erza looked back at him, feeling his resistance.
"Just come with me. I'll give you my gift."
"You can just give it to me now."
"I bet Mira wouldn't be pleased to know what we've been doing if you know what I mean?" Erza deviously smirked.
"You don't mean..?" Natsu knew what she meant. She was going to tell Mira what they've been doing.
Truth be told, he thought it wouldn't be so bad if Erza lied to the guild that they had sex because he had faith that they wouldn't easily believe her, and more importantly, Mira. Besides, it was her who violated him.
But their relationship was so strong because of their mutual trust and affection. He knew how much Mira trusted him, and he was afraid at the possibility of losing that trust. He wanted to find a way to solve his problem with Erza without having to hurt her in the process, and also keep the trust he's built with Mira at the same time. He arrogantly believed that he can deal with this problem without losing anything. So Natsu just went along with Erza and saw how things went, all the while thinking of the best way to get out of his predicament.
He was still confused at the sudden situation that he was placed in by Erza, of all people.
At first, Erza made him do something as innocent as spending more time with her, but as time went by, Erza got more assertive.
This wasn't the Erza he grew up with. When he saw how Erza hurt the client that he flirted with to passively get back at her, he started to get frightened. Now, he had to be mindful of the way he dealt with Erza. His actions toward her spelled consequences not just for himself, but for others as well.
The first time they had sex, Natsu knew he crossed a line. If light flirting was enough to set Erza off like that, he shuddered at the thought of what she must be feeling toward Mira. He was no stranger to the fact that Erza hated Mira. He wouldn't forgive Erza if she did something to anyone else or Mira, but by then, it would be too late. And he would have himself to blame. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if that happened.
Now, he was at the point of no return. There were even times when an image of Erza would flash in his mind whenever he made love to Mira. He couldn't believe it. He felt ashamed and disgusted at himself.
He was too late. If only he had just fought back at the beginning, it wouldn't have gotten this far. Maybe then, Mira or the guild would have helped him find a way to deal with Erza.
Back to the present, reluctantly, Natsu let Erza drag him somewhere they can be alone.
And that was how they ended up at the old guild basement, where Erza gave Natsu his gift and explained its ability to store extra magic for the user. He stored it in his pocket for safekeeping.
Just when Natsu thought Erza just brought him down here to give him the gift she got for him, she stopped him by saying "Where do you think you're going?"
"Huh? I thought you brought me down here to give me your gift?"
"I did, but that wasn't my only gift for you." Erza looked at him sultrily.
"Don't tell me..?"
"Exactly. Now just sit down and let me do all the work."
Natsu knew better now than to fight back against Erza. So he let her do as she pleased.
Erza started by sucking him off, before proceeding to pull him down to the floor and riding him.
…
Unknowingly, Erza was the one who fed Jenny's ego and caused her competitive spirit to light up. She told Jenny how her rival (Mira) took the spotlight today even though she went out of her way to visit Fairy Tail for Natsu's birthday (though she just tagged along, this was enough to light the fire in Jenny). She was the one who suggested a modeling contest since that was the field she was competing with Mira in. She sent Jenny off to challenge Mira.
Erza did all this to get Natsu alone.
Back to the present, she couldn't help but be amused by Mira's shocked face.
How Mira knew that they were here, Erza didn't know. But walking in on the position they were in, Erza was wondering how Mira would react.
Confusion, anger, despair. All these things that Erza felt because Mira stole Natsu away from her, she wanted Mira to experience two-fold.
Surely, Mira would have some doubts about Natsu now.
She had always planned for Mira to find out about her and Natsu, despite what she told him. She just had to find the right time and be extra careful about framing the incident so as to make Mira believe that Natsu was cheating on her. And as luck would have it, today was that day. Have the gods finally given her love their blessing?
She waited to see how this would turn out. What was gonna happen now?
So this chapter is inspired by my love of the yandere concept. I tried incorporating the experiences of the people in yandere stories into the thought processes of Natsu and Erza in this chapter.
I'll update when I can. I have priorities too, and my busy schedule right now prevents me from writing most of the time.
Please patiently wait for my final updates. My next update will probably be more than a month from now. I'm sorry in advance for the delay. As promised, I will finish this, come hell or high water.
