Chereads / Reborn as Batman / Chapter 4 - GCPD

Chapter 4 - GCPD

Bruce considered buying something for a moment. However, he hadn't even looked at the other sections yet. There could be a possible gold mine he was overlooking.

Bruce kept looking through the system. He clicked over to the knowledge section. The first thing he realized was that it was different from the skills. Although similar in organization, none of the options were locked out. He could buy anything even though he didn't have the points for them just yet.

What interested him most was the knowledge in how to build things. It was so vast in variety he was almost stunned. From how to build Lasguns and phosphex to Cybertronians and mechamorphs. But what was even more enticing was that he could purchase the intelligence of others.

He saw the one that he knew he had to purchase one day. Still, it was far beyond his reach now.

[Intelligence of Rick Sanchez: 100,000,000 bat points]

This would be his ultimate goal initially, besides becoming the best Batman possible. However, he had smaller goals to plan for now, such as breaking into the Gotham City Police Department, or G.C.P.D.

Bruce began to formulate a plan. For hours he worked out the kinks and even decided how he could use the system. During this process, he realized that he would need things he currently didn't have.

First, he needed a floor plan of the building. Second, he would need a plan to get in. Third, he would need a way to collect all the evidence or copy it. Fourth, he would need a way to get out of the GCPD. Lastly, using that evidence, he needed to find Chill.

Bruce decided to get some sleep; after all, his training starts tomorrow.

**The next day**

Alfred woke Bruce up early. They had a quick breakfast feast that Alfred made to give Bruce all the correct nutrients for his growth. Then he brought Bruce outside.

Before they began, Bruce bought Perfect Copy. Their training started simple: stretching, running, and other basic exercises. He had gotten a quest to complete the training. In exchange, he received 5 more bat points. After that, he introduced Alfred to his plans.

After about a week of planning, they had managed to map out the GCPD building and come up with a plan to get in. Alfred would serve as a distraction while Bruce would sneak in and grab the evidence. Next, they began to train his stealth. It ran quickly, after all, he wasn't being trained to fight.

After a few more days, when Alfred was satisfied with Bruce's progress, the plan began. He brought the car around and made some calls to the GCPD, saying he wanted an update on the case.

**Gotham City GCPD**

Alfred stepped around the limo and opened the door for Bruce. He stepped out into the rain. Wordlessly, the two looked each other in the eyes. Nodding, Bruce ran around the back of the building. He was wearing an all-black outfit. He pulled up a face mask onto his face.

From there, he climbed up a fire escape. He planned to go to the top, but he spotted an open window. Climbing in, he was about to start moving when his system appeared.

[Quest available: Robbing the cops.

Time limit: 1 hour

Reward: 10 bat points plus 1 random skill]

Bruce grinned and checked his surroundings. Seeing that the coast was clear, he began to make his way toward the evidence lockers. With a smile, he snuck around each hall.

Making his way to the stairs, he went up the next floor. Currently, he was on floor four. The evidence lockers were supposed to be on floor five. The police department was seven stories tall. If he had taken the fire escape all the way up, he would have had to sneak all the way down.

Reaching the right hallway, he turned. It was an empty hallway. Voices could be heard from a room off to the side. Above the door was the label Report Writing. He was too short to glance through the door window.

So he slowly opened the door, not making any noise—a skill he had learned training his stealth with Alfred. Opening it, he slyly peeked through the crack. At the front of the room was a dividing wall. On the left were a total of seven desks: three on the left and three on the right. Lastly, one more faced the window.

At each desk was a person typing away on a computer. Papers covered each of their desks. Each of them looked completely stressed. They had all been swamped with work for weeks. The Wayne murders had only worsened that.

On the other side of the room were the desired lockers as well as a table covered in more papers. Bruce opened the door and crept through. Using his new training, he kept his steps silent. Then, quietly making his way to the lockers, he pulled out a pager.

He began to type to Alfred. They had agreed that once Bruce had managed to actually get to the lockers, he would message Alfred. The message essentially read that Bruce had achieved that goal. Then Alfred confirmed that and told him which box he was looking for.

It was number 27—how ironic. Or at least, that's what Bruce thought. Moving over and checking over his shoulder one more time, he crouched down. Rifling through his pockets, he pulled out a lock-picking kit.

Maneuvering with focus and practiced skill—specifically, skill that wasn't his own. After all, he had bought Perfect Copy. So when Alfred had tried to teach him in preparation for a mission, he copied it. That was just another nail in the coffin that Bruce had to be the one to do this. However, using his newfound talent to impress his newly adopted father wasn't the only thing he used it for.

Opening the locker, he took out the gun and the two bullets. Hearing the sound of people moving around, Bruce turned and rolled under the table behind him. Looking around, there was nobody in the room who had moved. Rather, it was just two officers who were walking down the hall.

Glancing over at the stressed-out workers, none had noticed him at all. They were all too busy loudly typing away, writing reports and harshly slurping coffee. Crawling over to the door, he creaked it back open again. Quietly, he checked the coast again.

Seeing that nobody was there and the previous officers were already gone, he opened the door fully and snuck out. He made his way back to the earlier window. Opening it and hopping towards the fire escape ladder, he landed on it; however, he underestimated the leap. Catching his hands on the rails and trying to land his feet, he slipped because of the rain.

He began to fall but managed to catch himself on the floor of the escape. Thunder sounded behind him and rain fell hard against him. Luckily, his outfit had been made from the same material as raincoats. The custom outfit had been a large part of the reason he had to wait for so long to start this. Still, he had put in too much time and training just to fail here. Straining his arms and swinging his legs, he let go of his handhold. He leaped forward and landed on the lower level.

It was a rough landing; rolling around in the rain didn't help. But the worst part was the crash. The pain that had come screaming into his shoulder and side was the worst he had felt in this life. It caused him to cry out in pain. He didn't have time to calm himself, though.

A voice came from the window. Hearing this, Bruce quickly rolled over to the wall and hid. One of the officers inside the building walked over. The man, holding his steaming coffee, began looking out the window. Placing his hand on his forehead, he searched left and right. Still, he nearly missed Bruce, thanks to the fact that he was right below him.

He waited, holding his breath and staying still until the officer left. The pain had faded away, but what upset him more was that he was completely soaked. Keeping his breaths quiet, he sat up. He tried to roll his shoulder and winced. It wasn't broken—or at least he thought so; it would've hurt more. Well, he wasn't entirely sure—the previous him would have known, but he didn't remember much about that life.

Getting up, he made his way down the stairs quickly but quietly. Going all the way down, he messaged Alfred to bring the car around. He waited in the alley, which would normally be a bad idea, especially in a city like Gotham. However, thanks to this alley being right next to GCPD, it was relatively safe.

Soon, Alfred came through and opened the car door for him. Only upon getting in and driving away did he get a quest completion from the system.
