Chapter 4 - 4. leaving?

Phoenix stayed in her room the entire night. She had missed super and nobody bothered to remind her or even serve her in the room. She didn't care either. Nobody knew she existed when they father wasn't around.

If Mr Williams was around, her so called mother would be banging at her door pleading for her to come out of her room. When she was out, she would start throwing tantrums at her. It's either Phoebe or their father who would interfere then she would stop.

Phoenix never felt overwhelmed with her surrounding. The mansion was absolutely perfect with everything. Growing up, most of their classmates envied them because of their parents status.

Yeah, her dad was the City's best lawyer and their mum owned food factories across the City. She and Phoebe lacked nothing. To say, Phoebe never lacked a thing. She was the face of the Williams twins. She would go to functions with their parents, visit charity homes and be the only daughter of the Williams ever.

"Phoenix, why are you there? Come here," once a neighbor's daughter celebrated her birthday. The twins were invited. But Phoenix was in her own world. It was a one dress party. Yet she put on a jeans with a hoodie. The girls were to put on a white dress with a red rose designed in it. The guys wore the same design with black pants.

Novody recognized her as the other twin. She was invincible. Phoenix returned home and didn't go back to the party grounds.

Her bentonite clay was her only source of healing. The white clay was moulded like that of an egg but small.and baked to get a sweet aroma. It was only in City D. Somehow she had managed to cross City A to D. She was an addict.

Phoenix took one moulded clay from the bowl on the bed bringing it to her nose and inhaling it. It was a healing strategy for her. Nobody understood the effects it had on her. She was perfectly fine.

A box containing packaged clay moulds of freshly baked clay stood on the coffee table in front of her shelf. There was no indication on it that it contained clay. Only the owner knew what was in it. It was delivered by her friend's employee. She specially made it for her. It was her own secret remedy.

Julie thought the one she had been consuming was bad for her health. Phoenix started eating the clay at the age of ten. An old lady had gifted her a small box when the family went on a vacation to City D. She had refused at first, but was cautioioned to take it by her father. Nobody knew what was in it except the old lady.

She had seen one of Phoenix's designs while passing by and was very trailed. From then onwards, they became friends. Phoenix started working at age fourteen. The woman had a jewelry company but it was private. Nobody knew a thing about it. It seemed she was looking for a successor since she had no family. She was never married and had nobody to ran the company after her death.

Phoenix was the right person. The company was in City F, but they met at City D. The old lady was just like her. No friends, no love. She had just the clay and the company.

Later on, everybody at home asked what was inside the small box. Phoenix had lied to them that it was a watch. She had been secretly meeting up with the old lady at her company and skipping school.

Her parents were furious, they let her be after discovering she had finally found a friend.

At university, she was already the old lady's assistant and best designer. In her will, Phoenix was the new heiress of the company. It had no name at that time. Phoenix named it FACE.

'Fall Against Concrete East,' that was the full meaning of the company.

She had met the old lady at the East and she was the shield that protected her since. Phoenix always thought she was a nobody and had tried to commit suicide countless times in her room and at school.

The old lady thought her how to love herself and face reality.

She stood in front of the box admiring the books on the shelf. She had argued with her parents to provide her own shelf in her room. They hadn't agreed since they had a vast library in the mansion. She didn't care about their decision and ordered for her own.

The books were about the old lady's designs and clay thought. Most of them which she couldn't bring to life were brought by Phoenix. She continued with the lady's legacy and also made the company private. Nobody knew a thing about it. No media was permitted to interview any of her employees. They made monthly reviews and everything was alright.

***Phoebe looked at her sister who had a backpack and a box in her hand. Last night she didn't bother to go and call her to dinner or bother to send her food to her room. She knew she was mad at the scene she and their mother displayed at the beach side.

"Leaving?" Phoebe asked eying her fake twin. Phoenix had a yellow baggie top with some greyish sweatpants.

What in heaven's kind of dressing was that? Phoebe thought with a scrutinized nose.

Phoenix stared back at her sister and said nothing. She began to walk away.

"Come here, where are you going to with that ugly dressing?" she heard the voice she didn't want to hear. It was surely going to ruin her mood for the rest of the day. She didn't turn and continued to walk to the door passing by some workers who gazed at the mother and daughter with wide eyes. They all knew how bad their relationship was. It was because of one of these quarrels between them that made Phoenix leave the mansion to get herself a flat.

They wonder what was going to happen today.

"I am talking to you young ...!" Phoebe tried to stop her mother.

"Mum let her be, she's going to her flat." Rose stared at her daughter, but the girl she wanted to discipline very well was out of sight when she looked at the direction she was going to. The workers breathed out a sign of relief.
