Chereads / Lord of the Winged Beauties / Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: What if I refuse?

Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: What if I refuse?

"Lenn, what are you doing? I'm your uncle."

"How dare you betray the Tribe, betray the chief, and even point your weapon at me? Have you lost your mind?"

In the chaotic Goblin Tribe, an elderly Goblin was roaring in anger.

Goblin Lenn, whom he accused of being insane, did not hesitate to swing his long sword, knocking out a nearby Tribe Goblin with the back of his blade.

"I'm not crazy."

"It's the Tribe's people who are too foolish."

"Baril (the Goblin chief) can't lead the Tribe to glory; he can't even deal with the despicable gray dwarves Tribe."

"Only the great Lord of Holy Light can revitalize our Goblin kind."

"Uncle, join me in believing in the Lord of Holy Light."

"God will protect us."

Goblin Lenn, holding his long sword, stepped toward the elderly Goblin.

The old Goblin said in panic, "Put down your weapon first, let's sit down and talk slowly."

Goblin Lenn shook his head, "The Lord of Holy Light is a merciful deity, who has given the Tribe a chance for self-redemption, but only this once."

"Uncle, trust me, I won't harm you."

"Can you put down your weapon first then?"

"I can't."

"..."

Seeing Goblin Lenn approaching with his sword, the elderly Goblin got scared and immediately shouted, "Don't come any closer, I'll listen to you, I'll join you in believing in the Holy Light."

"Good uncle, I now need you to kneel on the ground, and don't make any other meaningless actions. After the Tribe's battle is over, the respected Holy Emissaries will ignite the fire of faith for you."

"I understand, can you stay away from me?"

"Okay, uncle."

Goblin Lenn turned and walked away.

The kneeling old Goblin looked around, preparing to find a chance to escape.

But soon he realized that the Goblin believers had surrounded the entire Tribe.

Those Tribe Goblins who refused to bow their heads to the Holy Light were either struggling to resist or had already been knocked unconscious on the ground.

He couldn't escape.

Most importantly...

Even if he successfully escaped the Tribe, where could he go?

Without the protection of the Tribe, he would sooner or later become food for wild monsters.

Thinking of this, the elderly Goblin immediately succumbed.

No longer thinking about escaping, he hoped that the strong leaders of the Tribe, led by the Goblin chief, could successfully repel the invaders, so he wouldn't have to become a follower of the Lord of Holy Light.

Like the Goblin chief~

The old Goblin also believed that the Goblin believers were controlled by sorcery.

Naturally, that Lord of Holy Light was also considered a malevolent god.

And a malevolent god, is absolutely not to be worshipped.

Otherwise, it would surely bring disaster to the Tribe, and even to the entire race.

...

In less than ten minutes, Edward's two hundred elite Goblin followers had taken control of the entire Goblin Tribe.

Despite there being over three hundred Goblins in the tribe, most were just ordinary Goblins.

The stronger members of the Goblin Tribe were already surrounded by the Angel Squad.

Without any real opposition, the Goblin followers easily occupied the Goblin Tribe.

Everywhere you looked, Goblins were kneeling on the ground.

Some Goblins were physically knocked out, lying askew.

"Our quest is complete."

"Now we just wait for the Holy Emissaries to finish preaching the creed to Chief Baril, and this battle for the tribe's redemption can end."

"Praise the great Lord of Holy Light."

"Under God's guidance, our Goblin Tribe will surely step into the light."

The Goblin followers were frenzied, each of them envisioning a glorious future for the Goblin Tribe.

Meanwhile, the Tribe Goblins forced to kneel were each terrified and thought the Goblin followers were all nuts.

This world no longer needed faith.

They were all hoping that the old Goblin chief would win and come to save them.

"Damn it."

"Are all the legendary winged ones this powerful?"

On the battlefield, the Goblin chief's eyes were splitting with rage as he continuously swung his elemental staff, launching huge fireballs at the four Angels attacking him.

However, his elemental magic was useless.

It couldn't pose a significant threat to his enemies.

The fireballs he released were all slashed in mid-air by dazzling sword lights, leaving nothing but scorched earth.

The four Angels besieging the Goblin chief—Virginia and Janet leading the attack, with Carolyn and Ruth providing support—forced him to keep retreating.

From the wooden walls of the Tribe, he was pushed back to just outside the grand hall that held countless honors of the Goblin Tribe.

As for the other strong Goblins, they had been surrounded early on.

Their situation was even more perilous, as the remaining dozens of Angels were all besieging them.

Several strong Goblins were killed in the first wave of the encounter, and after another round of fighting, a few more were slain.

As of now, only six strong Goblins were still desperately holding on.

Two were level eight Goblin commanders, and four were level seven Goblin warriors.

"Such terrifying power."

"Are all these winged ones children of the gods?"

At that moment, the six strong Goblins were completely surrounded by the Angel Squad, constantly facing terrible attacks from all directions, with any slight inattention leading to instant death.

When the Angel Squad first arrived, they didn't take the Angels seriously because their levels weren't high—mostly level five, with a few level six, and only four powerful level seven Angels.

The Goblin Tribe had level nine and level eight strong ones, giving them every reason to believe that the Angel Squad couldn't breach their Tribe.

But when the battle actually started, they realized they had greatly underestimated the Angels' strength, as each Angel possessed the ability to fight above their level.

The two powerful level eight Goblin commanders were even overwhelmed by a group of level six Angels.

This was an incredibly unbelievable event, filling the surrounded Goblin strongmen with both shock and fear.

And what made them most desperate was that their old chief seemed to be on the brink of collapse.

An Elementalist is a long-range artillery on the battlefield, most vulnerable to close-range attacks.

And as the four strongest Angels attacked the Goblin chief, his fate seemed already foreseeable.

"Fire Dragon Technique."

The Goblin chief roared furiously.

Waving his staff, he unleashed a high-level fire elemental magic.

In an instant, a fire dragon, stretching dozens of yards long, swept towards Virginia and her group.

Where the fire dragon flew, not only was the ground scorched, even the air smelled burnt, showing its immense power.

However, Virginia and her companions did not retreat.

From a distance of several dozen yards, they slashed their Angel Swords towards the fire dragon.

Immediately, four streams of golden flames burst forth.

Transforming into huge fire pythons, they collided with the fire dragon.

With a loud boom, the fire dragon was directly shattered, and even the waves of fire that erupted from the explosion were devoured by the golden fire pythons.

"What kind of flames are these?"

The Goblin chief was horrified.

The events of today seemed to have completely escaped his understanding.

Virginia and her companions approached step by step, saying, "These are flames of sanctity and light, condensed from faith, capable of purifying all evil in the world."

"Goblins, my Lord is merciful, giving you a chance to live."

"Believe in my Lord, join the camp of the Holy Light, and you will gain eternal life and redemption."

"What if I refuse?"

The Goblin chief gripped his elemental staff, his face full of vigilance and anger.

"Refuse?"

Virginia stood in mid-air.

Behind her were a pair of Angel Wings radiating holy light.

Her face was stunningly beautiful, like a goddess descended to the mortal realm.

She looked down at the Goblin chief, her expression indifferent, and said, "Those who refuse to believe in the Holy Light, the heretics, will not receive my Lord's mercy. The end will be purification of soul and body by the Holy Flame."
