Chapter 124 Fields Aleshia hesitated at the edge of the forest, unsure whether to cross into the open land where there were few hiding spots. As her uncertainty deepened, the adventurer she had been following moved further away. She faced a difficult choice: should she continue to follow him and risk being discovered, or should she stay in the forest and wander aimlessly without a clear direction? Aleshia hesitated to cross the boundary, but as she watched the adventurer disappear on the other side, a pressure overwhelmed her, and she decided to step out of the forest and follow him. It took some time for Aleshia to regain the distance lost to the adventurer and his horse, but now she could see him again. She decided to increase her following distance, staying farther back than she had while in the forest. With fewer hiding spots in the area, she felt it necessary to increase her distance. Despite being farther away, she could still see him clearly from her position. The adventurer reached the top of a small hill and crossed it, with Aleshia sneakily following behind. At the peak, Aleshia was amazed by the breathtaking view. Expansive fields and flourishing crops stretched out in front, and just beyond them stood the towering walls of a city. Peeking over the walls, she could see the towers of what she guessed was an academy. "Isn't that something?" Lucia gasped. "Judging by the buildings that peek over those high walls, this city must be quite prosperous." Aleshia, excited to explore, responded, "that's true! I can't wait to go into the city and see what it's like inside!" Aleshia stopped admiring the view and noticed the adventurer continuing along the path that led to the city. She resumed following the adventurer, and after a few minutes of traveling behind them, she reached a field of crops. Lucia's hat body bounced in every direction on top of Aleshia's head, marveling at the beautiful golden wheat and delighting in its beauty. Aleshia felt the happiness Lucia exuded with every twist and bounce along the path. She tried to smile but couldn't quite manage it, yet she still felt happy. As Lucia admired the crops, Aleshia kept an eye on the adventurer, following him and occasionally hiding within the field since he would sometimes glance behind him. The adventurer seemed unaware of her presence, and each time his gaze failed to notice her, she felt a sense of accomplishment. With each successful hiding, her thrill grew, making her more bold. Eventually, Lucia noticed Aleshia's little game. "Hey! Stop that. What if he catches you?" she whispered. "I'm sorry," Aleshia replied sheepishly, rubbing her hands together. "I think I just got too caught up in the excitement."
