Chapter 112 Upstream or Downstream? Aleshia continued walking for hours after leaving the disaster area with Lucia perched on her head. They had traveled a considerable distance from the swirling mist with the application of support-type spells now and then. However, they could still see wisps of mist rising above the forest foliage whenever there were large gaps in the leaves. Aleshia didn't dare to stop; she kept moving forward, knowing it was in her best interest not to return to the area for a long while. Lucia appeared preoccupied with the magic she had learned during the event. The magic was hovering just ahead of Aleshia, allowing her to see it, observe, and perhaps learn a few things about this new magic. Occasionally, Aleshia would chime in with some suggestions for Lucia, some of which were tried and tested, with other tests failing, causing Lucia to be unable to use her magic for several minutes. After some time, Lucia perked up and alerted Aleshia to some things in the sky. When Aleshia looked up, she saw winged creatures that resembled horses, though she was unfamiliar with them. Upon closer inspection, she still didn't know what they were, but she could make out figures riding atop them, although they were too far away for her to identify. "That's interesting," Aleshia said. "You were right about people coming to investigate." With a deep sigh, she released the last bit of tension she felt. Now that she could entirely leave the burden to the figures on the flying horses, she felt relieved and returned her gaze ahead. Aleshia returned to walking, and a few more hours passed. During that time, Lucia continued her previous activities, testing and experimenting with her new magic. As her skills advanced, she was able to incorporate more elements into her practice. Occasionally, Aleshia joined in, adding her lightning magic to Lucia's efforts. "Hey, isn't that water?" Lucia said, bringing Aleshia out of her absentminded walking. "Yeah, that is most definitely water! I wonder if there will be people there," Aleshia replied excitedly. With a newfound vigor, she was about to break into a sprint but paused to ask, "Are villages constructed upstream or downstream?" Lucia was confounded by the question. She had never considered it before and asked, "You don't know? Do you not have knowledge of this?" "I don't," she answered with concern. After taking some time to sift through her memories, she added, "That's odd. It seems like I have some gaps in my memories."
