Chapter 59 - A New Life Begins

The Ptolemaic Kingdom has taken a turn in the amendments of its customs and traditions ever since the incident of the princess and her cousin happened. The people are proud of their lives and have been living in harmony ever since. The King has gain his health back and is also back to governing his people as he is supposed to but he issue is having an heir to take over him since old age has taken the greater self of him, and without wanting to lose the throne to a different lineage or family, it has been pressured on him to either marry another wife adding up to the mother of the princess since she has not been able to conceive for him an heir as expected by custom, or he would have to face the pain of handling of losing the throne to a different lineage. The Oppong Family is not the option at the moment since his son is responsible for the irresponsible deed of sowing an unwanted seed into the princess, hindering her from taking over the family when he finally joins his ancestors, neither will be her child or children to come will be able to inherit their grandfather. Due to the situation, she has found herself, no man in the whole of the kingdom is willing to settle down with her calling her his wife, and yet the man responsible for the unwanted seed inside her womb is still not anywhere to be found. Naana Oppong, father to the run-away father, is being given an ultimatum to provide the information about the whereabout of his son if not will be made to face another fate and will not be pardon this time around.

Years has passed and the princess is made to live the life of an isolated person in the quiet town of Thenes, a town in the Kingdom where the king always run to when he needs to find peace and have some moment s to reflect and things of what do to bring prosperity of his people. It is a town in the Kingdom which is hardly heard of due to the small population of people dwelling in there. Due to it small population, the king much prefers to hide there when things get hard and confusing for him. He believes the gods and the ancestors join him in there when ever he needs them and that helps him think over everything he has done for his people since his ascension to the throne, while Akinidad who name has been changed to Layla, has been living in Azurethra, where her mother served as their ruler until she finally joins the ancestors with her husband and their daughter. She has been serving her people in the best ways that she can with the help of her husband and everyone in Azurethra is proud and happy of her leadership. At this point she is lucky to be expecting another child hoping to be a boy, not really to take over the throne of Ptolemaic, but to take after her as the ruler of Azurethra. This has so far been the best life she has been rewarded with and everyone is happy about it.

Hakeemi is rumoured to be in the big city where he has been living his life without leaving behind any lead of his whereabout and what he has been up to. He has landed himself a job as a storekeeper in the big city and has been lodging alongside some few friends he made on his arrival in the city. The city is believed to be a place of vast advancement in technology and no weird tradition is being practiced there. He has been away from the kingdom for the past six years and seems not to bother about the kingdom not even about his family. He knows of the grave calamity that awaits his arrival to the Kingdom. He has been living a good life and making some genuine money for himself, which has diverted his mind and attention away from the kingdom, even forgetting he comes from a kingdom. Even in our modern world, coming from a royal lineage is one thing everyone is proud of because of the benefits and privilege that comes with it. Although he is not from a royal lineage, but it would have been a great deal if he had married into the royal family, making him an eligible candidate to be crown as a potential king of the kingdom when the ruling king finally joins his ancestors.

The shame of being punished but custom will not allow him throw away his pride and stoop himself low to the punishment of custom. Since he has been earning a good life in the big city it will be of no essence going back to the kingdom.

Princess Nala, who is currently living in Thenes is earning her life as a farmer because that could be the lenient punishment to face as a royal disobedient blood.

The princess has been living a good but lonely life since it has been just her and her daughter. The King, Masinissa Linette Duah II loves his granddaughter but cannot allow them a stay in the palace, since she was conceived out of wedlock and not as custom required. As there has been no one in her life and no one wanting to be with her, she would have to live most of her life as an alone and lonely mother until when someone deem it a pleasure to propose marriage to her.

The Ptolemaic Kingdom is a rich and famous kingdom but due to its technology hindrance, getting int touch easily amongst each other is only possible and easy when you live close or in the same town. The king has made it a point to try his possible best to pay his daughter and grandchild a visit as often as possible.

Time has passed and Akinidad, who is knows as Layla, is being put of bed and about conceiving her second child with her partner. Luckily for them she made it and conceived a boy, and it has been something they have been praying and hoping for from the gods.

The goods news travelled all the way to Carthage, to the palace of the King, and it sparked a light and brought joy to the heart of the king. Even though Layla has no plans for her child to be g=crowned king after the great king himself, but this will be a case of emergency and great consideration for the king. His nephew has brought to him something he has hoping for and will put an end to his lifelong misery of hopelessness. Layla and her husband were demanded to move their stay to Carthage, where they will have all the necessary aid and attention they need for the growth of their newly born child.

The news has reached Thenes, the dwelling place of the princess, and as it is a news to be joyous about, this has start to spark a light of darkness in the heart of the princess. As far as Layla has finally conceived a boy, the chances of the throne going to her cousin is a done deal. She is broken at this point because she feels the throne rightfully belongs to her and her cousin is taking the same steps as her mother to make her son take the throne after the king. tis is beginning to breed some little hatred in the heart of the princess and is bound to ruin the relationship they both shared not just as cousins but as real sisters.

Layla and her husband have finally moved their stay to Carthage and are beginning to enjoy all the necessary attention and treatments of real royals, while the princess is made to live as the lonely mother that she is. She is, princess Nala, is beginning to have regrets of entrusting her heart and body to Hakeemi who she thought loved her regardless but has abandoned her and her daughter, while he lives his live in the big sister. She starts to grow resentment towards her cousin and her father and has promised to do whatever it takes to get back at them and finally ascending on the throne just as her aunty, Amanirenas, has done. This will open a new dawn of destruction and confusion in the kingdom, as its coming from the princess herself this time around.

Princess Nala decides to pay a surprise visit to her father in Carthage and wants to use the opportunity to see the newly born child of her cousin. Even though she has been warned not to come to Carthage, but she has taken the law in her hand and would start to act in accordance with her own convictions.

Hakeemi has also made it a point to visit his kingdom again thinking the tensions would have calmed so he could see his parent and probably see his lover, the princess, and make up the lost times and move her back to the big city so they can both start with a new life.
