Early autumn skies hung above, the river carrying a hint of icy chill.
Jiang Ning dragged Mu Mingxuan's heavy body towards the shore with Qi Xingzhou on the other side, also pulling at Mu Mingxuan. He pressed his lips tight, not only taking on more than half of Jiang Ning's burden but also shielding her from some of the water flow with his body to make her swim easier.
Both of them were agile, and in the turbulent river water, they joined forces to bring the unconscious Mu Mingxuan to the bank.
Jiang Ning had jumped in to save Mu Mingxuan because she didn't want his corpse polluting the river. She had no sympathy or pity for someone she disliked, naturally, her actions in dragging Mu Mingxuan were far from gentle, even somewhat rough.
All she wanted was to fish the person out, dead or alive.
