When Wu Ling returned to camp, he immediately gathered up several fresh ingredients to prepare along with Xiong Dahuo's roasted meat, creating a quick pepper sauce and tossing in vegetables charred in the campfire before serving the salivating young cultivators.
"Brother Wu," Yu Jinqi praised as he watched the Artist work on their meal. "After trying to replicate your dishes, I'm even more impressed how you transform food so rapidly with so few ingredients."
"It comes from having few options at home," Wu Ling said simply, savoring the rich peppery meat and the lightly charred vegetables. "If I take out the black pepper from the sauce and add a splash of vinegar and a bit of sugar, you get an entirely different flavor. Take that but use the juice of a small citrus fruit and add spicy chilis and it's something else again."
