Chapter 14 - Duet of Brother in the Battlefield

"So.... The Task Force 413 is yours?" Vergil ask with curious tone.

"yes, is belong to me but something is missing for Aquila Wings" said Dante with some confidence

"What is it?" Vergil ask with more curiosity

"Last month we do some repair and reorganize on Aquila Wings, and we discover there is some empty section there between Delta Blade Chapter and Sister of Battle can be use by some Grey Knight." said Dante

"And how big the section?" Vergil ask

"Big enough for 20 Grey Knight Paladin, and we need some Daemon Expertise from the pro." Dante said with confidence.

"So and you want me to lead the Paladin?" Vergil ask with flat tone

"Of Couse, they said you are not ready. That why i come here, and if you excuse me..." said Dante enter the Chamber of Counsel.

Inside the Chamber of Counsel, Dante took in the sight of numerous Grand Masters gathered in deep discussion. Their imposing forms, clad in ornate Terminator armor, exuded both power and wisdom. It was rare to see such a concentrated assembly of leadership from the Grey Knights, and Dante knew that their attention was focused on his request.

The Grand Masters were discussing Dante's appeal to fill the vacant positions within Task Force 413. As Shield Host Captain of the Adeptus Custodes, Dante's responsibility to maintain the task force's effectiveness was paramount. Task Force 413 had been stretched thin in its recent engagements against the forces of Chaos, and reinforcements were desperately needed to ensure their mission's success.

"Still worry about my request?" Dante ask

"Yes, brother Vergil is not yet ready become Grey Knight Paladin and lead his own Squad." said Hight Paladin Koiar Tempus

Suddenly, an Inquisitor's voice came through a secure communication channel, urgently requesting the aid of the Grey Knights. A Daemon of Khorne had manifested on Hive World Harunaka V. The situation was dire, as the appearance of any Daemon from the Blood God's legions always heralded widespread bloodshed and destruction.

The Inquisitor's message was brief but filled with urgency.

"Grey Knights, we require immediate assistance. The Hive is under siege by Khorne's forces. Reinforcements must be sent without delay."

What made the situation even more alarming was the report that, just a day before the Daemon's emergence, several witnesses claimed to have seen red Drop Pods landing on the planet's surface. The implications were chilling. While it was unclear which faction the Drop Pods belonged to, their crimson color immediately raised suspicions. It could mean one of two things: either a force of renegades allied with Khorne had arrived to unleash the Daemon, or worse—elements of the World Eaters, Khorne's own favored warriors, had descended upon Harunaka V.

"See... we have the test for Vergil and join Brotherhood Terminator Squad." said Dante

"than i will prepare the team, brother Vergil come in." Said Grand Master Covan Leorach,

Vergil swiftly entered the Chamber of Counsel, having been summoned urgently. As he stepped inside, he was met with the imposing sight of 19 Terminators, all from various Grey Knight brotherhoods, arriving in unison. Their heavy footsteps echoed through the chamber as they made their way inside, their presence immediately commanding attention.

The Grand Masters, who had been deep in discussion moments before, turned their sharp gazes towards the newly arrived Terminators. There was a palpable tension in the air, a seriousness that Vergil could feel deep in his bones. He knew those stares well—something grave was unfolding, and it demanded the full might of the Grey Knights.

Vergil's eyes scanned the room, taking in the scene. The Terminators, fully armored and prepared for battle, seemed to understand the gravity of the situation as well. Each of them stood ready, awaiting orders from the highest-ranking members of the Grey Knights.

As Vergil approached, he could feel the weight of the moment settle over him. The sudden gathering of so many elite warriors could only mean one thing: the situation had escalated beyond the usual threats. Something significant was about to unfold, and Vergil had no doubt that it would involve him and his brothers being thrust into the heart of it.

"Brother, we have a urgent situation here. World of Harunaka V is under attack by Khorne Daemon. Defender is under attack by we believe is World Eater. They summoned Daemon and latest report no Greater Daemon yet to seen." said Grand Master Aldric Voldus.

"All of you selected as also a test for joining Imperium of Mankind Special Force under Task Force 413. Lord Custodes Dante here will observe all of you and command how and where to go." said Grand Master Rothwyr Morvans

"Hold on... what?" said Dante surprise

"Bother Vergil will lead the squad, and remember this.... if you success you will accepted as Paladin and serve under Task Force 413." said Grand Master Rothwyr Morvans

"oh well.... than we go now." said Dante

Suddenly, the teleportation gate opened, its blinding light filling the chamber. Vergil was the first to step through, followed closely by the 19 Terminators, their hulking forms disappearing into the warp. They re-emerged moments later on the surface of Harunaka V, the desolate landscape of the Hive World stretching before them. Dante followed soon after, his golden armor gleaming under the harsh skies of the war-torn planet.

As Vergil surveyed the area, his keen senses immediately locked onto a group of red-skinned daemons with grotesque, twisted features and menacing blades. Their savage forms stood out starkly against the barren terrain, and their bloodlust was palpable. Without hesitation, Vergil recognized them—Bloodletters, the daemonic foot soldiers of Khorne, the Blood God. Their deformed heads and long, jagged swords marked them as relentless killers, driven solely by the desire for slaughter.

Without a moment's delay, Vergil charged toward the nearest Bloodletter, his blade flashing as he struck with precision and fury. The first daemon fell swiftly, its form disintegrating into the ether as Vergil's weapon cut through its infernal essence. Two more Bloodletters lunged at him, but Vergil was faster, his movements a blur as he decimated the daemons with a flurry of deadly strikes. Their howls of rage were silenced in an instant, reduced to nothingness by the Grey Knight's righteous power.

The 19 Terminators followed Vergil into the fray, their heavy weapons and halberds cutting down the Bloodletters with ruthless efficiency. Each swing of their massive blades cleaved through the daemons, sending them back into the warp from whence they came. The battlefield became a blur of violence as the Grey Knights pushed forward, purging the chaotic filth from the planet's surface.

Dante himself joined the assault, his presence inspiring those around him. His movements were a dance of death, his halberd slicing through Bloodletters with precision. Together, Vergil, the Terminators, and Dante were an unstoppable force, carving through the daemonic horde as they pushed toward the heart of the battle.

"Ah almost forgot...." said Dante.

"Is usually you...." said Vergil in flat tone

"This is Shield Host Captain Dante from Adeptus Custodes, to every active combat unit hearing this Vox Com, i come bring reinforcement." said Dante.

"This is Major Silvanka from 999th Iron Mordian Regiment, Praised the Emperor. We request some backup and also other Space Marine Chapter Answer it too and now they move forward." said Silvanka with relief tone.

"Tell the Space Marine chapter to continue their duty, we attack them from behind." order Dante

"Yes My Lord." said Silvanka

Vergil led the charge, pushing the Terminators forward as they slaughtered their way through the hordes of Daemons and World Eater Chaos Space Marines. Their unstoppable momentum brought them to the heart of the battlefield, where the Warband leader's fortress loomed ominously. The air crackled with the dark energy of Chaos, but Vergil and his brothers pressed on, undeterred.

As they reached the gates of the Warband's command post, the leader of the Chaos Warband emerged, his twisted armor marked with the savage symbols of Khorne. His eyes narrowed as he caught sight of Dante, who stood further back, observing the battlefield and issuing commands to the Terminator squad with calculated precision.

The Warband leader snarled in recognition. He knew who Dante was—an elite among the Emperor's guardians, a Custodes who had crushed many like him before. Fueled by rage and the thirst for blood, the Warband leader charged, seeking to eliminate Dante in a single blow. However, Vergil swiftly intercepted the attack, parrying the strike with his weapon, the force of the blow reverberating between them.

Dante, unfazed, calmly ignited his Power Sword, the weapon glowing with crackling energy. He stepped forward, positioning himself beside Vergil, ready to face the Warband leader. The Chaos Lord sneered, realizing that defeating both Vergil and Dante would require more than brute force. In a swift move, he summoned his daemonic forces to isolate the remaining Terminators, leaving Vergil and Dante to face him alone.

The fight that ensued was fierce, as Vergil and Dante worked in perfect harmony, their attacks complementing each other in a seamless display of skill. The Warband leader fought with relentless fury, his blows powered by the dark energies of Chaos, but Vergil and Dante countered each strike with deadly precision. Each time the Warband leader attempted to gain the upper hand, one of them would cover the other, their coordination flawless.

The Chaos Terminators who watched from afar marveled at the sight. Vergil and Dante, two warriors from different orders, fought as if they were one. Their movements were swift, powerful, and—despite the chaos of the battle—there was a certain elegance in the way they fought together. It was as if each anticipated the other's moves, covering weaknesses and exploiting every opening the Warband leader exposed.

As the battle wore on, the Warband leader began to falter. His once-brutal strikes grew slower, his breathing more labored. The combination of Vergil's relentless onslaught and Dante's unyielding precision was too much for him to handle. The leader of the Chaos Warband, a mighty champion of Khorne, now found himself outmatched.

Sensing his weakening state, Vergil and Dante exchanged a glance, silently coordinating their final strike. In a simultaneous attack, Vergil launched a powerful blow aimed at the Warband leader's chest, while Dante's Power Sword sliced through his defenses, severing his armor with a devastating strike.

The Warband leader let out a final roar of defiance before his body crumbled under the combined might of the two warriors. With their foe defeated, Vergil and Dante stood victorious, the battlefield around them littered with the bodies of the fallen. The Chaos forces, leaderless and broken, began to retreat, their morale shattered.
