Thanatos slowly regained consciousness, the oppressive darkness engulfing him like a suffocating blanket.
His thoughts swirled, a dizzying mix of confusion and self-reproach. 'How could I have forgotten?' he berated himself. 'This was the one thing I couldn't afford to forget.'
His skeletal fingers reached out, seeking purchase in the unfamiliar darkness, his mind racing as he tried to recall the events that had led him here.
But his memory was as blank as the void around him. All he knew for certain was that he had made a grave mistake.
Thanatos sighed, the air rushing through his ribs like a chilly breeze. "I did this. I created this damn circle, thinking it was a harmless bit of fun. But nothing is harmless in this world, is it?"
He paused, the realization sinking in like a stone dropped into a bottomless abyss. "Who knew my own amusement would come back to haunt me like this? My arrogance was my undoing."
