Cars zoomed past on the highway, creating a roaring whirlwind. The buildings seemed to slow in their retreat, and the Porsche's speed gradually dropped from 120 mph to 90 mph. Various vehicles overtook the Porsche, their taillights flashing triumphantly as if basking in a false sense of satisfaction.
Leon Chen leaned against the passenger seat, the wind from the convertible Porsche making him feel more alert. He glanced at the slightly fatigued Isabella Xiang and felt a bit guilty.
He had let Isabella drive for seven to eight hours straight while he enjoyed himself in the passenger seat. Wasn't that too shameless?
"Are you tired?" Leon asked.
Isabella shook her head, her eyes focused on the road. It was rush hour on the highway, and being a meticulous person, she didn't want to make any mistakes.
"Let me drive for a bit. You can rest," Leon offered, knowing that prolonged driving on a highway could dull one's senses and weaken cognitive function.
Isabella glanced at Leon, feeling a bit tired, and replied, "Okay, but we can't stop on the highway."
"Just hold the steering wheel steady, and shift over. I'll slide in from behind and switch places with you."
Isabella didn't reply but unbuckled her seatbelt and got up from her seat.
Leon had absolutely no ulterior motives when he offered to drive. He simply wanted to relieve Isabella of her burden. But when Isabella stood up, her curvaceous hips tightly hugged by her jeans, and her full chest hanging as she leaned forward, the sight of her sensual curves made Leon's blood surge.
Although the Porsche's cabin was spacious enough, there was inevitable body contact during the switch. Isabella's hips brushed against Leon's groin, causing her to stiffen slightly.
Once Isabella sat in the passenger seat, she gave Leon a peculiar look.
Leon pretended not to notice Isabella's gaze, focusing intently on the steering wheel.
Driving and foreign languages were considered essential skills for modern youth. Leon had learned to drive after high school graduation, and now he drove swiftly and steadily. After observing for a while, Isabella lay back in her seat and dozed off.
"That Ferrari is still following us," Leon noted, seeing the damaged silver Ferrari in the rearview mirror. It had been tailing them since they left the restaurant, neither overtaking nor signaling.
"Mm," Isabella responded absentmindedly, still feeling the heat in her ears from the long drive.
Leon, seeing Isabella's fatigue for the first time, smiled gently.
After a while, Leon stopped at a gas station to refuel and bought two bottles of water, handing one to Isabella. The Ferrari slowed down as it passed the gas station, the occupants casting mocking glances at them. The crew-cut driver made a gesture, as if saying: "See you ahead."
"What a nuisance," Leon muttered, throwing the bottle into the trash.
"Do you want me to drive?" Isabella offered.
"No need. You rest."
"Okay."
Not long after getting back on the highway, Leon realized what Zhang Jun was planning. He saw a military Humvee up ahead, positioned to block their path.
"Does he really think using a Humvee will save face?" Leon mused. Should he commend the creativity or mock the cowardice?
A head-on collision with a military Humvee would undoubtedly be disastrous for the Porsche. Isabella frowned, not expecting the other side to resort to such shameless tactics.
"Leon, don't engage him."
"Okay." Leon pressed the accelerator.
Sitting in the Humvee was Zhang Jun, who eyed the approaching Porsche like a hungry beast.
"Boss, that guy's coming," the crew-cut youth said, seeing the red Porsche speeding towards them, his smile filled with confidence.
Zhang Jun grinned, lighting a cigarette, and revved the Humvee to its maximum speed, charging forward. If the Ferrari was like a mad bull, the military Humvee was a fortified rhinoceros.
If you don't dodge, I'll take your last name!
Zhang Jun sneered inwardly.
"Leon, avoid him."
Leon smiled, accelerating. The Porsche's speed surged past 230 mph, even more daring than Isabella's driving.
The two cars hurtled toward each other on the same lane. The Porsche seemed suicidal.
"That guy is speeding up," the crew-cut youth said, stunned.
Is he crazy? Does he plan to crash into the Humvee? Obviously, in a collision, the Porsche would suffer far more damage.
"Don't worry, it's just a bluff," Zhang Jun scoffed. Having raced for so long, he knew this trick. Even a fool could predict the outcome of a collision.
The Porsche was just trying to scare them. It would surely dodge at the last moment.
Ha, let's see you get wrecked.
Zhang Jun's cunning smile widened, a flash of cold light in his eyes. It had been a long time since he felt this exhilarated.
Now Isabella was the one being pushed back into her seat. The Porsche had reached nearly 300 mph, close to its top speed. Although Isabella kept her composure, seeing Leon even more relaxed and confident than she was shocked her.
"Leon?"
"Don't worry, I know the consequences of crashing into a military Humvee. Now isn't the time to show off." Leon's smile made Isabella feel even more uneasy.
The roaring engine sounded like thunder, and in an instant, the distance closed to just a hundred meters.
Leon began to steer, seemingly preparing to dodge at the last second.
Zhang Jun's fanatical grin contrasted sharply with Leon's calm demeanor. The crew-cut youth was scared stiff by the Porsche's oppressive aura, drenched in cold sweat.
Just as the two cars were about to collide, Leon's steering wheel returned to its original position. He made no move to dodge, charging straight ahead.
But at the last moment, the Humvee swerved abruptly, avoiding the collision.
"Boss..." the crew-cut youth was dumbfounded. The Humvee had dodged the Porsche?
Zhang Jun was even more shocked. He had thought the Porsche would surely dodge at the last second, but as it sped past, he saw the unflinching composure of the young driver.
This guy
Really
Really had no intention of dodging!!
Is he crazy?
Boom!
Zhang Jun's thoughts were cut off by a violent impact, and everything went black.
Leon, through the rearview mirror, mocked the other side's cowardly evasion.
"You didn't dodge..." Isabella said quietly. Any other girl might have screamed hysterically.
"Be more ruthless than your enemy, and he loses."
Leon smirked as the Porsche drew a breathtaking red line across the highway.
