Chapter 122 - Interstellar General (9)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Silas and Grey arrived at the Ebunox estate, Caspian was at the mansion to greet them. This man looked a little like Silas, but his features were a bit softer and his eyes were a deep blue color, different from Silas' blue-green eyes. He was also around Grey's height, so Grey didn't have a hard time looking at him, unlike Silas who was a head taller than the both of them.
Caspian always wore a form-fitting suit and tie with his gold rim glasses. He looked like an intelligent man. All in all, Caspian didn't have as much presence as Silas. Made sense though. The one in Silas' body was God System… His husband was too powerful.
"Big brother, it's good to see you are safe," Caspian said with a gentle smile on his face.
Silas looked at him and nodded. He didn't say anything.
Caspian looked over at Grey and raised his right eyebrow. "Big brother, this is…"
"This is my boyfriend, Grey. Grey, meet Caspian. Okay, We will be in the room if anyone needs anything."
After that Silas brought Grey to his room, ignoring the look on Caspian's face. Silas wasn't close with Caspian at all. Caspian tried to murder him, slander him, ruin his reputation, and the list just went on and on. He would be ignorant if he didn't see behind Caspian's mask.
Grey sat down on the couch in Silas' room. They finally relaxed, so Grey let himself melt into the couch.
He said, "Your brother isn't very good at acting kind to you."
If Caspian talked with other people he didn't like, he would be better at disguising his emotions. Since he was talking to Silas, even if he wanted to act one way, his tone of voice and actions said otherwise.
Silas didn't care too much about Caspian and sat next to Grey wrapping his arm around the other's waist with a very practiced motion like he had done it a million times.
"Of course, he isn't. He's wanted to kill me for so long, it's hard to conceal malicious intent like that."
He shrugged. "Once we get more evidence, we won't have to worry about him."
Silas felt no familial love for Caspian. It all disappeared when Caspian pushed him down the stairs a few days after arriving at the estate. Caspian's mother just glanced at Silas and walked away as though she didn't see anything.
He didn't want Caspian's death. He just wanted Caspian to get over his grudges and leave him alone…
When Caspian returned to his room, the first thing he did was slam the door in anger. All the servants in the area could see he was furious, so they made themselves scarce.
He didn't have anything he could break, so he just kicked the dresser and couch out of frustration.
"Boyfriend?! What a fucking joke!"
When Caspian and Norton were looking for someone in Silas' Legion to do the job, the reason they picked Grey was that he had little to no connections with Silas. They made sure that the two had never talked, never interacted, or even breathed the same air in a room for more than 10 minutes! The only possibility he could think of was that Grey got too soft-hearted and decided to protect Silas instead of killing him on that remote planet.
It wouldn't be surprising if Silas ended up falling in love with his savior.
Should he blackmail Grey? What would happen if he had already told Silas everything and this made Silas trust him even more? It was annoying to think about.
"He always looked down on me, looked at me as though I was not his opponent. Not this time though…."
Caspian walked over to a dresser and opened one of the drawers. He took out a box. It was a simple, plain box. It didn't look anything special so it was easily overlooked.
When he opened it, there was a small vial with a clear liquid inside. It did not have a smell or taste, but it was highly poisonous. Just a drop could kill a normal man. For those with physical and mental energy, they would need an extra drop depending on their rank. For Silas, it will take a lot of it to kill him, but it was worth it. The vial was enough for Silas and Grey.
He thought Silas and Grey should thank him for killing them together.
He closed the box and put it back in the dresser. He then began to pack up a small suitcase. He knew he could not travel with a lot of things. It would only slow him down.
Afterward, he secretly contacted a mercenary group that was proficient in mecha fighting. He didn't need them to save him. He just needed them to stall for time as he got out of the capital. Maybe even protect him on his way to his destination.
Caspian was not stupid. He knew how powerful the First Legion was, so he didn't expect to kill them. He just wanted to run away from them even if it meant he had to run away forever!
As long as he could kill Silas, he didn't care about the Ebunox family or his political title in this damned Empire.
All he wanted was to kill Silas who took everything away from him.
After Silas and Grey finished washing up, the two of them got notifications simultaneously. Grey got one from System 225 while Silas got one from his intelligence team that usually stayed at the base.
Silas laid on the bed with Grey in his arms, looking at his hologram. Grey spaced off to listen to System 225 about all the information he had gathered.
[Grey, it's definitely Norton and Caspian who planned to kill Silas. Here's a copy of their messages and phone calls. It was tough to get these. This world is highly advanced so it took some time for me to get my hands on it. Also, I was able to obtain information on the person who contacted you to kill Silas. He's dead. As for the person who messed with the mecha, it was a technician from the Second Legion, the one Norton is in charge of. He's also dead.]
'They are quite thorough in scheming but it's not good enough to hide from you, System 225.'
[Of course, I am a lot better!] He sounded happy to be praised. [Let me send you the rest of the information.]
System 225 sent it to Grey's hologram.
Grey looked through the bank account statements, deleted conversations; watched videos, read messages, and listened to phone calls while Silas was contacting the leader of his intel group.
He was looking through all the information they had gathered. It wasn't as detailed as what System 225 gave to Grey, but it was enough to use as evidence against them.
They not only have an eyewitness but also a video of Norton talking with the man who threatened Grey. Then there was the mystery behind the man's death. There was one last message to the man before he died. It was from one of Norton's men. These were all deleted but were recovered with great effort.
The intel group also had evidence of Silas' mecha being tampered with. They didn't know who it was, just that someone had snuck in when they were getting ready for the fight with the Zerg Queen. Since it was so hectic, the person was able to slip in without being detected. They believed it was someone from the military, but that was all they could gather.
"How should we proceed with this information, General Silas?" The leader of the intel group asked.
"I will discuss it with Christoph and Grey. You know Grey, right? My lover."
"Yes… We all know about your new lover."
"Good. Find the time to come over and meet him."
"Understood, General Silas."
The intel leader realized if Silas kept talking about Grey, he would never leave, so he asked to leave first. Silas let him go because he wanted to talk with Grey anyway. The two hung up with different motives and thoughts.
Silas turned off his hologram and saw Grey spacing out. Well, it looked like he was.
"Grey, are you tired?"
Grey snapped back to reality when he heard Silas call out to him. "I'm good. I was just organizing some information."
"Information? What kind?"
"Information on who tampered with your mecha and who threatened me."
"What a coincidence, I was also looking at that."
"Oh, tell me what you got and I will tell you what I have."
Silas thought it wasn't a bad deal so he pulled up all the information in his hologram. He had adjusted the settings for Grey to be able to see it as well. Of course, it was the same for Grey's hologram.
Grey read through all the information and felt that Silas' intel group was pretty good. Just this much information was enough to allow Silas to bring it to the Emperor for a verdict.
"Coincidentally, I have information that fills in the gaps."
Grey opened his hologram and let Silas look through all of the information System 225 had.
Even though Silas was beyond angry while looking through it, he couldn't help but marvel at Grey's information gathering. He felt that his intel group needed more training…
"It wasn't me. It was a good friend of mine."
"A friend? Do I know them?"
"The lost memories of yours do. You will know in due time…" He had to be a bit vague but it didn't hurt to tell God System that he knew System 225.
"I see… Must be dangerous for me to know then."
"I'm glad I don't have to explain further. You understand me well."
The two smiled at one another for a moment before going back to looking at the hologram.
Silas sent all the information to himself and then to his intel team. The leader was so shocked to see all the detailed information, that he immediately pressed Silas to spill who was able to gather all of the information even though there was an AI system that was extremely hard to breach.
"I can't tell you now, but just hold onto this for me. When I give you the signal, send it all to His Majesty."
"Understood, General Silas!"
With everything in place, both the allies and the enemies were ready to go…
