Chapter 113 - Serial Killer (12)

Edited by: Kuro and Lille

Even though Kyle Reed said he would plead guilty, on the day before the trial, they found the man dead in his cell. His cause of death was suicide.

Inside his cell, he wrote a note or more like a will to Myles.

Dear Myles,

I leave all my company assets, my property, my money, my everything, to you.

My adoptive parents had no one left besides me, but after they died, and after I died, there would be no one to take care of their home or business.

I hope for this, at least, you will keep it. Please... I know this may be selfish, but I want to give you my everything regardless if I am there or not.

I'm sorry for everything. I wish we could have met in a different context, in a different lifetime... Maybe then we may be together.

From,

A man who could only hope

Sorry not sorry, but for Grey, he would never be with this man. As for Myles, he couldn't say for sure. It was only left to fate.

Suddenly inheriting a multimillion-dollar company, he brought it back up from the ground and then handed it over to someone else. Kyle's home was then turned into a museum as well as a place to give tribute to those he had killed. No one was allowed in the basement, but people were shocked such a beautiful mansion would house something so dark.

After all of that, Grey finished his last side mission and continued to stay in the world with Dr. Reynolds.

They were happy with one another and got married after a couple of years. Their jobs made them so busy sometimes that they forgot about getting married until Caleb reminded them to.

Dr. Reynolds took over after Dr. Hendricks retired, but the old Dr. would come by and visit once in a while, especially when Grey came by. Kiran, the young University student who was kidnapped by Mr. Reed, in the end, actually became a medical examiner because he looked up to Dr. Reynolds.

The two, Grey and Dr. Reynolds, solved case after case, becoming the ideal couple for everyone. Grey and Dr. Reynolds retired when they turned 60. Though Grey had to wait for his younger husband, the two traveled around the world afterward and settled down in a small city in a different country.

Caleb, who suddenly found the love of his life, became a Government Agent after a few years as a detective and married Dr. Mia who was close in age to him. The two had a couple of kids and retired when they both turned 65.

Shockingly, many books and movies were written about the Reed Killings, even featuring Grey who reluctantly accepted interviews. Kyle Reed became the worst and most well-known serial killer in the country, making many people fear, but oddly adore the man. There were always those people who couldn't help but gravitate toward him.

The rest of the government agents all grew old and retired when they felt it was good to do so. They lived fulfilling lives.

In a small house in an unknown city, Grey lay on the bed, holding onto Dr. Reynold's hand. The two didn't say anything for a while, but their eyes said it all.

"I can never really get over this... Either you or I leave the world like this. And every time this happens, I get so sad. I know we will meet again, but I can't help but feel so lonely when I am not by your side." Grey said this, softly, almost in a whisper.

Dr. Reynolds could feel the tears forming. He also felt sad parting with Grey as well. "I know, but we will meet again in the next world. I promise you I will find you. Hopefully, I will remember everything next time around."

"That would be good. It feels so odd that I remember everything and you remember bits and pieces, some more than others."

Grey gave a small laugh. He was truly really happy.

For the man who was always in pursuit of happiness, his husband in front of him was his happiness. It may be unhealthy to pin it all on someone, but with how the two were, somehow it just fit.

He trusted this man with his life and soul. It was no wonder the man was his happiness.

They spent so many lives and so much time together, Grey couldn't think of anyone or anything that made him happier than when he was at this man's side.

Grey closed his eyes. There was a soft hum coming from Dr. Reynolds as he coaxed Grey to sleep. He felt a faint touch on his cheek, a gentle pinch that gave him comfort.

[Myle's body has died. Transferring to System Space now. Welcome back, Grey.]

When Grey came back to the System Space, he was greeted once again by System 225. Arisa was awake but System 505 was still sleeping. It seems her injuries were more severe than he thought.

"How is System 505 doing?" Grey sat down at the table where Arisa and System 225 were sitting.

System 225 answered, [I patched up her wounds, but she still needs to fight the contamination given by the Villain System. Arisa and I have been helping her with that.]

"I see, do you know when she will be recovered?"

[Should be around the time you finish your first A-ranked world.]

"That's a really long time."

[This is what happens when we come into contact with the Villain System and are not prepared. I thought System 505 and Arisa would be fine with minimum protection because the Villain System was on our tail, but it seems like I was too complacent. It's my fault.]

"No, it's not your fault," Arisa spoke up. "We don't know what the Villain System is doing and where it's going. We should have been more guarded."

"It's none of our faults. We should blame it on System 001 and their Villain System."

[That is true. We wouldn't be in this mess if not for them.]

The trio talked a bit before Grey decided to go to the next world. He wanted to quickly get this over with.

[I understand. I will transfer you over.] System 225 grabbed the mini UniOrb and held it out in front of Grey...

Grey put his hand on it and closed his eyes.

[Transfering in 3… 2… 1… transfer complete. Good luck with your endeavors, Grey.]
