Chapter 1 - DE SINCLAIRS

The Underworld.

A complex web woven by money, power, alliances and many others. The underworld is a conglomeration of all organized crime groups and their clandestine activities

Once tangled in this web, the way out can be perilous and otherwise impossible.

The underworld can make great or drown a person to the very bottom of humanity.

If navigated correctly, you would hold power and wealth beyond your wildest imagination. But traversing wrongly could and would spell your doom.

Only the luckiest or smartest make it.

Others were born into it. Others were influenced but there are some who take theirs by force.

For years the underworld continued in its status quo. That is until an unknown variable got thrown in the mix. A soul from another world.

And since then, the underworld never remained the same.

A family risen from the ashes to rule. With immense power and wealth. Their name later reverbed around both the black and white sides of the world.

They were known as the devil's house. Harbingers of death and destruction. The fallen ones. And many others too numerous to mention. But one title stood above all. A name dreaded for it's owners. A name that shook the world.

HOUSE DE SINCLAIR.

*****************************************

Twas a sad day indeed.

Lightning flashed every once in a while lighting up the dark world and bringing with It a cacophony of booming sounds.

In a neighborhood situated in the Bronx, New York, the rainstorm hammered heavily on the roof of an average house.

And through the window you could see silhouettes, three in particular, still awake despite the late hour, sitting at supper with somber moods almost reflective of the weather outside.

The house was not all that big, it had a living room which had a television, a dining where a small table and about four chairs were placed. A kitchen with the standard equipment and also a fridge.

At the head of the table dining table was a boy, about fourteen years of age. He had blonde hair and somewhat grey eyes. A sharp nose and they jaw that could split a brick in two. His features made him out to be quite handsome. His countenance although had a cold vibe going about it. A facade used to hide the inner thoughts from surfacing.

To his right was another boy who although younger had a much larger physique then the first boy. Even at his young age, he was much bigger that most his peers.

He,like his brother had blond hair and green irises which looked around the room as if finding somewhat of a distraction from his current predicament.

Coming to the left, sat a young girl who about ten years of age.

She had a beautiful skin, smooth and unblemished. Her hair was a wavy black.

With deep blue eyes. Which normally would have a hint of playfulness in them, but because of the occasion, those eyes were currently somber.

These siblings were the Sinclairs and trust me,they have seen more plight than the next person.

Today was the funeral of their adopted parents. Normally they wouldn't have been affected by it, cause they had gone through similar experiences before but, this time it hit hard.

Having escaped their home continent Europe after a series of unfortunate events,

the siblings supported each other from their time on the boat, to the current day.

They have been adopted more than three times, but, they were always left alone at the end

And what was the cause of their dilemma you ask? It was none other than the gangs that profiliated around their everyday lives.

At the orphanage where they were first harboured, the owner was a sweet and kind old woman(bless her soul) who took the siblings when they were not much old.

She tried her best to take care of the children in her orphanage, always tending to their needs and trying her best to send them to school but, nothing was given without expecting something in return. And in this world kindness was a luxury you could not afford if you depended on others too much

She found herself embroidered with bloody loan sharks who smelled blood from miles away. They prowled around her seeing easy meat.

And when the time came for the scores and debt to be settled, the poor orphanage home came up short and had to pay the price, with blood of course. The old owner was killed. The children were traumatized for life.

Those lucky enough to remain sane where given aids by the government. And the children that were too young to be on the streets where either transferred to another orphanage or were adopted.

But enough of the long story

The girl seated at the left of the table could not help but tear up a bit.

And in between sobs she said.

"Am going to miss them"

Seated at the head of the table, the boy couldn't help but stretch his hands and enveloping his crying sister in a hug while also doing his best to comfort her.

He said in a comforting and calm voice with and unmistakable British accent hidden in it.

"Vivian, you have to be strong. We will miss them too"

The girl now known as Vivian could not help but look at her brother and with reddened eyes and with a Shakey voice asked.

"What now Adrian,we have no one left, and due to our track record no one is gonna adopt us"

Adrian who sat at the table's head was the eldest and both of his siblings looked up to him enestly. He was their shield and their sword. Right from their days in Europe which had become a fleeting memory for them.

Adrian De Sinclair, the eldest of the Sinclair siblings had ambitions. The criminal underworld had been disrupting his family's peaceful life and he could not help but become fed up with them. As long as they lived in this city, they were bound to run in into the abyss of the underworld.

The system was corrupt, as the gangs, mafia, mobs and various crime families had the law and police system in their pockets. And following the nine to five norm was not ideal for him and frankly, was too bland.

This world had too many luxuries to enjoy. And he,Adrian, was determined to carve a place for him and his family in the one percent of the world whether he had to go legal or illegal to do it.

Adrian stood up surveying the room. Looking at the faces of his siblings he knew that whatever he decided they would follow him blindly. But he had to be sure.

"I've had enough of this powerlessness and I know you guys have too.we can't continue like this we have to take our destinies in our own hands. We can't let anyone decide anything for us."

"We were not meant to be ordinary. Power is what rules not law and order but power to make your own choices. And I have made mine. I choose not to remain ordinary in this world. I will one day rule, both the white and black part of this world"

Vivian and pierce stared at their brother and they could not help but feel the fierce determination hidden behind his cold grey eyes. And his enthusiasm had a way of infecting others. The Sinclairs had a common trait among them. And that was their intelligence.

It may not be in the matter of science but, their intelligence shines through what ever they set their heart to do.

Adrian,still staring at them spoke.

"From now on, my path will be wrought with dangers and thorns and i could very well die.But know this I WILL not allow anything happen to you if you choose to follow me.

But if you don't, I understand and I will allow you to go. You are also free to make your own choices."

The air was heavy with tension as lightning kept pulsating outside. Winds howled and the rain intensified.

"*Chuckle*"

"Nah mate,You can't get rid of us that easily"

Pierce the last of the people in the room, interjected with an amused chuckle.

Vivian siminly affected by that statement, smiled and facing her brother, said

"Yes brother, pierce is right. We're with you till the end"

Warmth filled Adrian's hearth as he gazed upon the eyes of his family. He knew that this path was dark and he would never had brought them with him but, he had no one to rely upon. And he promised himself that family came first. And if it got too dangerous,

he would pull out. But he knew that once they were in, going out was almost impossible. The underworld never forgets.

Plans begun to form in his head, and he quickly relayed it to them.

"First, we have lay low for a while and gather all the advantage we can get our hands on.

Train, and see if we can get a start. Also, we need information and I think I know exactly where to get it"

Adrian concluded

Information was crucial to his plans. He had to know which gang owned this territory and how to proceed. He also needed to purchase a few things which were not seen as legal.

And what better place to find information than [JOY GROVE BAR] down the street.

That place had it all. From crackheads to info brokers to dealers to whores anything goes in "joy grove bar".

Walking out of the dining into the living room,Adrian paced back and forth running calculations in his head. If they were gonna venture into the underworld, they would require funds.

And the money left by the late couple was not all that large, about 10,000 dollars give or take.

Adrian had to be smart in using the funds in his hands.Too much expenses could incure losses and too little expenditure could result in undermined quality. But even with this amount the expenses would still be great for what he had planned.

Turning to his siblings, Adrian explained

"I will head to [ Joy Grove Bar ] tomorrow to see what I can get. In the mean time, Pierce I want you to bring out the old garden vases from the shade outside and put them in the basement. Vivian you should help and fill them with soil from outside"

"Got it"

They both affirmed

Adrian nodded. Then turning around he began walking towards their room but suddenly he stopped. Turning back again he said

"Oh and Vivian? Please take care of the twins while am away ok?"

Vivian, only now remembering the twins nodded her head in affirmation and said

"No problem"

"Thanks"

And with that, the Sinclairs retired to their resting places in preparation for their big day ahead. Tomorrow would mark their first step into a dangerous unknown. Frankly it frightened them, but they knew that had to have each other's back.

As they laid down, they couldn't sleep for a while. The memory of their third late foster parents still haunted them. Adrian promised himself that once they had enough power, he would find their killers and settle the score with them. And with that thought, he drifted off into the hands of Morpheus.
