Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Elsa

"That's all for now." I heard the professor mutter. Once he left the class every other student started to break their way out of the class too. I sat still, arranging my books into my bags, waiting for all of them to leave first. I was done packing my bag when I subconsciously glanced at him again, gladly he didn't catch me stealing glances this time.

"Hey Palmtree, you're not coming?"

I heard his friend ask him, standing at the entrance of the door.

"I told you not to call me that, shorty. Anyway you can leave without me, I have somewhere to be at. Catch you later."

"Oh okay."

Now leaving just I and him in class. I stood up quietly, placed my grey tote bag on my shoulder and made to leave. With the side of my eye, I saw him stand up to leave too.

"Hey!" I heard him call. Was that for me?

I hurriedly ran out of the class, pretending like I didn't just hear him call me.

"Hey blondie!"

Still walk-running, I pretended it wasn't me he was calling. He didn't call my name anyway.

Why was he calling me? Is it because of the subconscious glance I gave him earlier? Does he think I'm interested in him?

'Oh my gosh, Elsa stop thinking!' I yelled mentally.

I sighed in relief on getting to the library, glad I was able to miss him among the many buildings. Why was I running anyway? I did nothing wrong to have been avoiding him.

I almost made a facepalm at my stupidity. I strolled to one of the library shelves, took out two mystery books, one about werewolf creatures and the other about vampires. I've been into these mystic creatures since I was eight, though I've been told countless times they do not exist. Leave me to believe whatever I want to believe, it's for the fun of it.

I sighed and settled on one of the empty seats, taking out my other comic books from my bag as well. I enjoy comics too, and don't come telling me to act like the young adult that I am; everyone's got their turfs you know.

Twenty minutes sitting in front of the books, I felt something in my bag vibrate. I took out my phone and stared at the caller ID.

Mom. Note the damp expression in that.

I reluctantly picked up, "Hi mom"

"Heyyy Elsie. How was morning classes?" my mom's over lively voice came from the other side of the phone.

I sighed, "Good. Mom why are you calling again?"

Mom chuckled, "Hey don't be mean, I called to check on my only daughter. What's wrong?"

"You're making this super weird mom, you called this morning before I had my bath and after I had gotten dressed. Even though you had called me just yesterday night."

"It's not my fault I miss you so much." She defended. I could imagine her grin at that statement she made.

"Yeah mom whatever. Gotta go, bye." I told her, uninterested.

"Hey Elsie wait, don't hang up on your mother just yet."

"What mom?"

"I was just thinking if--- wait where are you?"

"The library, why?"

"Geez Elsa you're such a dweeb. Why be so boringly studious when you can get yourself a boyfriend for fudge sake." She shot.

I scrunched up my nose, "Mom please, we're not having this conversation today. Bye."

"Get a boyfriend!" she basically shouted into the phone. I hung up immediately, embarrassed by my own mother. The boy sitting before me turned to look at me, I smiled awkwardly facing the books in front me almost immediately. So much for having an over spirited mother, who's nothing like me. I'm somehow glad I didn't get that uncanny trait of hers.

I paused and stared blankly at one of the book shelves; my mom did have a point. Maybe having a boyfriend again at the age of twenty one wouldn't be a bad idea. The last time I had a boyfriend was a few weeks to my 16th birthday, and I didn't realize I was been played till my 16th birthday party. Same reason I chose not to have anything to do with popular people. I hate the way they make me feel; insecure and less of myself.

My phone beeped notifying me of a notification, jolting me out of my reverie. I have another class in fifteen minutes, thanks to the reminder I set on my phone everytime, I don't have to rush to be anywhere.

I pack my books back into my bag, returning the mystical books back to their shelves; I'll come back to properly borrow those.

DYLAN.

I was so sure she was the owner of that energy oozing in the class, it was just me and her then, the energy was so strong I almost possessed her mind.

Did she perhaps figure out what I am? Why was she running? At this point, I think Oz and I are beginning to loose our minds.

All of a sudden I felt a small arm wrap around my neck.

"Hi Palmtree, sorry Dylan" he grinned.

"Hey shorty, sorry Finn." I'm sure he could sense the sarcasm I replied with, because he was soon removing his arm from my neck. He cleared his throat like an oldie.

"Where did you go earlier?" he asked simply.

"Huh? Oh just somewhere around, never mind about that."

"Okay. Our next class starts in ten minutes, let's go bestie."

His last sentence sounded so cringe in my ears, I paused and stared at him, "What? Uhm... did you just call me bestie?"

"Yes, you don't like it?"

"Why would I, I mean what are we? Elementary kids? You're just a random guy just as I am, don't push it." I chuckled and walked ahead of him, leaving him recalling on what wrong he said.

He picked up his pace, running up to me to catch up, "I was just trying to be cool."

"Well, that wasn't cool."

"Why are you always so blunt?"

"I am, oh I didn't realize." I replied playfully, scrolling through my phone, now uninterested in whatever he was saying.

I wasn't paying attention to neither what Finn kept rambling about, nor my view up front. I was still busy so concentrated on replying Beta's text when I bumped into someone and my phone went crashing to the ground.

Oh no! Not my phone! That phone was bought brand new for the excellent business idea I suggested to my uncle.

"Fuc---"

"Sorry"

I paused on hearing that feminine voice, only that word sounded like a song. It was familiar, I knew I heard that voice somewhere before.

I looked back at her.

"How much?" she asked.

"Huh?"

"The phone? How many thousand dollars? Don't worry, I'll get you a new one."

I was no longer bothered if she was going to pay for a new phone or not, my hunch is definitely right when I say I know this face from somewhere, Oz could agree to that too. I tried perceiving her energy but it was bland, like I was blocked on purpose.

'What are you?' I asked her telepathically, after somehow managing to subdue the blockage and having access to her mind. I couldn't ask her openly, Finn was staring at us.

I watched her smirk and flip her hair.

'Better than whatever you are.' She replied me, using telepathy too.

What? I had blocked access to my mind, how could she reply me with telepathy as well?

She brought out a card, and handed it out to me, "Call me some time, I'll pay for the phone after a little conversation."

Finn's jaw dropped, I'm sure he thought she just asked me out. We watched her flip her long hair again, before walking out on us; not without swaying her hips of course.

"What the hell was that?" Finn mumbled.

I scoffed. Who the hell does she think she is? I shoved the card in my pocket, picked up my cracked phone and walked ahead of Finn again.
