A week passed in a flurry of recovery milestones and covert preparations. Chenxiu, now deemed fit enough for discharge, bided his time carefully. The board meeting loomed large, a gathering of vultures circling what they assumed to be easy prey.
On the appointed day, the company's expansive boardroom buzzed with tension. Yun presided at the head of the long mahogany table, a picture of smug satisfaction as he called the meeting to order.
"Esteemed colleagues," he began, voice dripping with false sincerity, "we gather today to address the unfortunate circumstances that have befallen our CEO, my dear cousin Chenxiu. As you're all aware, his recent... mishap... has left him gravely incapacitated and unfit to lead."
Murmurs of agreement rippled through the assemblage. Yun's smile widened, shark-like in its predatory gleam.
"Therefore, it falls to us to ensure the continued prosperity and stability of our enterprise. I propose we move immediately to install an interim CEO, naturally with all due respect to Chenxiu's eventual recovery..."
The double doors flew open with a resounding bang, cutting off Yun's well-rehearsed speech. All heads swiveled towards the dramatic entrance, a collective gasp rising as Chenxiu strode purposefully into the room.
Impeccably dressed in a bespoke charcoal suit, he exuded an aura of barely leashed power. His eyes, cold as arctic ice, swept the room before settling on his stunned cousin.
"I do hope I'm not interrupting anything important," Chenxiu drawled, his tone deceptively mild. "Please, don't let my untimely resurrection impede your machinations, Yun."
A susurrus of shocked whispers filled the air as board members shifted uncomfortably in their seats. Yun's face had drained of all color, his carefully crafted plans crumbling before his eyes.
"Chenxiu," he managed to choke out, "this is... unexpected. We were led to believe your condition was far more grave."
A razor-thin smile curved Chenxiu's lips. "Clearly, your intelligence leaves much to be desired. Perhaps that's why you felt the need to resort to such underhanded tactics?"
He strode to the head of the table, smoothly displacing Yun from the seat of power. "Now then, shall we discuss the real state of affairs? I'm particularly interested in hearing how each of you justified this little coup attempt."
