Chapter 137 - Chapter 137: Unmasking the Traitor

The silence that followed Kalki's revelation was suffocating. His companions stared at him, their expressions a mix of shock and confusion. The words on the parchment seemed to blur before his eyes, but the name was unmistakable.

"It's Arjun," Kalki finally said, his voice barely more than a whisper. "Arjun has been the traitor all along."

Leela's eyes widened in disbelief. "No, that can't be true. Arjun has fought by our side since the beginning. He saved my life more than once. There must be some mistake."

Rajan stepped forward, his face grim. "We can't ignore the evidence. The Whisperer had no reason to lie. If Arjun is the traitor, we need to confront him."

Nisha, her eyes narrowed in suspicion, glanced around the chamber. "Where is he? He was right behind us when we entered the catacombs."

A cold chill ran down Kalki's spine as he realized Arjun's absence. "He must have overheard us and fled. We need to find him before he can cause any more harm."

The group hurriedly retraced their steps through the labyrinthine tunnels, their minds racing with the implications of Arjun's betrayal. Kalki's heart ached at the thought of his trusted friend turning against them. He remembered the countless battles they had fought side by side, the camaraderie they had shared. It seemed impossible that Arjun could be their enemy.

As they emerged from the catacombs into the darkened streets of Vimana, they split up to search for any sign of Arjun. Kalki and Leela headed towards the eastern quarter, where the narrow alleyways and crumbling buildings provided ample hiding places.

"Kalki, over here!" Leela called, her voice tinged with urgency. She pointed to a figure darting into the shadows ahead of them.

Kalki's heart pounded as they gave chase, their footsteps echoing off the cobblestones. Arjun was fast, but Kalki's determination fueled his speed. They cornered him in a deserted courtyard, where the moonlight cast eerie shadows on the stone walls.

"Arjun, stop!" Kalki shouted, his voice filled with a mix of anger and desperation. "Why? Why did you betray us?"

Arjun turned to face them, his expression a mask of regret and guilt. "I never wanted to, Kalki. You have to believe me. I was forced into it."

Leela stepped forward, her eyes blazing with anger. "Forced? By whom? Why didn't you come to us for help?"

Arjun shook his head, his shoulders slumping. "Sukracharya has my family. He threatened to kill them if I didn't spy on you. I had no choice."

Kalki's anger wavered as he saw the pain in Arjun's eyes. He knew what it meant to be trapped by circumstances beyond one's control. "We could have helped you, Arjun. We could have protected your family."

Tears welled up in Arjun's eyes. "I was too scared. Sukracharya's power is immense. I thought I could protect you all by keeping you in the dark. But I was wrong. I'm so sorry."

Leela's anger softened into sadness. "You should have trusted us. We would have stood by you."

Before anyone could respond, a sudden commotion erupted behind them. Rajan and Nisha appeared, their expressions grim. "We've got company," Rajan said, drawing his weapon. "Sukracharya's forces are closing in."

Kalki's heart raced as he realized they were out of time. "Arjun, get out of here. Find a safe place for your family. We'll deal with Sukracharya."

Arjun nodded, his eyes filled with gratitude and sorrow. "Thank you, Kalki. I won't forget this."

As Arjun disappeared into the shadows, Kalki turned to his companions. "Prepare for battle. Sukracharya won't stop until we're all dead."

The sound of approaching footsteps grew louder, and the group braced themselves for the onslaught. Kalki's mind raced with strategies, but one thought remained clear: they had to survive, no matter the cost.

The courtyard erupted into chaos as Sukracharya's forces descended upon them. Swords clashed, and spells crackled through the air. Kalki fought with a fierce determination, his movements precise and deadly. Leela and Rajan fought by his side, their skills honed by countless battles.

Nisha, wielding her magic with grace and power, created barriers to protect them from the enemy's attacks. Her eyes blazed with fury as she unleashed a torrent of fire upon their foes.

As the battle raged on, Kalki caught a glimpse of Sukracharya standing on a nearby rooftop, his eyes cold and calculating. The dark sage watched the carnage with a twisted smile, his presence a constant reminder of the evil they faced.

Kalki knew that defeating Sukracharya would be no easy task. The sage's dark arts were formidable, and his cunning was unmatched. But as long as they stood together, they had a chance.

With a final, powerful strike, Kalki dispatched the last of Sukracharya's minions. The courtyard fell silent, the air thick with the scent of blood and smoke.

"We need to find a way to stop Sukracharya," Kalki said, his voice resolute. "He's the key to ending this nightmare."

Leela nodded, her eyes filled with determination. "We'll find a way. Together."
