Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Unreliable Big Guy

The restroom was inside the teaching building, and there was one in the library as well. Places where "outsiders" were prohibited from entering all had restrooms, so it's no wonder Mike couldn't find it earlier. However, with Holland's permission, Mike could now come and go freely.

After using the restroom and walking out of the library, Mike looked relaxed. While he was in the restroom, Mike took a look around the library and concluded. Truly, it was an ocean of knowledge, and there were so many books. Mike thought that perhaps there might be a way for him to learn magic here, and he would find an opportunity to delve into this ocean of knowledge.

Holland looked at him helplessly. She always felt that this big guy was a bit off. Despite his appearance of a simple and honest person, his behavior and way of speaking seemed shrewd and a bit slick, like an old oil stick, yet he looked so young...

"Shall we proceed with the transaction now?" Mike asked Holland.

"Of course!" Holland was a bit impatient. A bag filled with gold coins appeared in her hand as the ring on her finger emitted a glow. Mike knew it was a storage ring; his grandpa had one too, but bigger and heavier, more like a thumb ring, which he was wearing on his thumb now. Mike liked using it as a knuckle duster. As for why he didn't store things in the ring—it was because the ring was full, filled with various metal materials from his grandpa's blacksmith shop.

"Here are fifteen hundred gold coins; you can count them," Holland said.

"No need, I trust the integrity of a mentor." Mike took the gold coins and hung them at his waist directly.

Mike's words pleased Holland, and her favorable impression of this big guy increased a bit.

"So, when will you tell me what I want to know?" Mike asked with a smile.

"Wait a moment, I need to take the carcass to the laboratory first," Holland said, looking at the bag still dripping blood.

A lot of the Bloodland Fiend's blood had been wasted, which made her feel a bit distressed. Until the experiment was successful, she wanted to make use of every part of the Bloodland Fiend carcass, even if it was just a piece of meat or a drop of blood.

Mike nodded, letting Holland get busy. Holland first took out a large bag with magical patterns on it, obviously a magical device. After putting the Bloodland Fiend carcass into it, not a drop of blood leaked out. Then, she picked up the bag, tapped her foot, and flew into the academy.

Mike watched her figure and sighed, "It's great to be able to fly."

Holland was also a mage, and her rank was probably not low. Geoff and the others never asked much because Mike wasn't with them.

Qiqi, on the other hand, curiously approached Mike and said, "Big guy, I think you might have sold the Bloodland Fiend carcass too cheaply, meow."

Even Qiqi could see that.

Mike smiled, "I know, but it's okay. I'll have plenty of opportunities to make it back from her in the future."

Qiqi nodded, seeming to understand.

Soon, Holland returned.

"Can we talk now?" Mike asked.

"This is not the place to talk; follow me," Holland said, walking towards the depths of the library.

Mike turned to Geoff and the others. Geoff, with keen insight, said, "You go, we'll wait for you at the school gate."

"Okay." Mike nodded and quickly caught up. Qiqi followed naturally behind Mike, like a little tail, and Mike didn't stop her.

Seeing the library door close, Geoff shook his head. "Let's go."

"What about Qiqi?" Martina asked.

"She's not one of us anymore," Geoff said.

...

Following Holland to the depths of the library, there were private rooms here, probably for quiet reading and study for certain nobles. There were even snacks here.

After bringing a plate of snacks, Holland asked, "Coffee, tea, or milk?"

"Milk, meow~" Qiqi immediately raised her hand.

Mike asked, "Do you have any alcohol?"

Holland rolled her eyes, "What do you think?"

"I think you have some, so please bring me a glass of rum with some ice and cherry juice," Mike said.

Holland, "..."

Such an unreliable guy.

Ignoring his request, Holland brewed a cup of tea for him and poured a glass of milk for Qiqi. Then she asked, "Which thing do you want to know first?"

"Let's start with the Bloody Grounds," Mike said.

Holland nodded, and then she carefully explained some things about the Bloody Grounds to Mike. It was not much different from what Geoff had said, but more detailed. As for the situation inside the Bloody Grounds, Holland also didn't know much about it. After all, not many people would enter the real Bloody Grounds, and even fewer would come out alive.

Through Holland, Mike learned about more types of bloody monsters. For example, Blood Fiends, Plague Fiends, Lion-Headed Fiends, Bloodsuckers, and so on. The value of these monsters was also quite high. For example, the current market price for a Bloodland Fiend was between four thousand and five thousand gold coins. Selling it for one thousand five hundred gold coins, Mike could be said to be at a loss.

"How about it, do you feel like you sold it at a loss?" Holland took a sip of tea and smiled, a sly look in her eyes, trying to see a hint of regret on Mike's face. It was clear that this beautiful mentor had a bit of a dark side.

However, she was disappointed. Mike showed no signs of regret. Instead, he smiled and said, "Not at all. Making a deal with a beauty is never a loss. After all, they've already paid in advance with their charming beauty."

Hmm... There were also those ten bottles of intermediate healing potions paid in advance. Hehe~

Holland was taken aback. This time she was sure she was being teased. But she didn't feel disgusted; instead, she smiled and asked back, "Oh? Are you saying my beauty is worth three thousand five hundred gold coins?" That was the price difference for the Bloodland Fiend carcass.

Mike chuckled. "Of course not. That's just the value at first glance. Haven't you noticed? I still haven't dared to blink." Mike pointed to his eyes.

Holland was puzzled at first, but then she realized what he meant and couldn't help but cover her mouth and laugh. Qiqi, who was nibbling on biscuits on the side, looked at the two teasing each other with a naive expression, somewhat puzzled. But she didn't care; the milk here was really delicious. She loved drinking milk, meow~

The humorous exchange lifted Holland's mood, and she found Mike more and more likable.

"Besides these, I don't know much about the Bloody Grounds. It's not something a mentor like me can access," Holland said, sipping her tea.

Mike nodded and said, "The second thing, which is what I'm most concerned about, is how to get into Heidis."

"Why? Aren't you a mercenary? Why do you want to enter a magic academy?" Holland asked. During the break, she had confirmed Mike's identity with the magic guards at the gate. After all, someone with a Bloodland Fiend carcass in their possession needed to be checked.

"Because I love learning," Mike said seriously.

Holland looked at him skeptically.

In less than three seconds, Mike shrugged and changed his tune, "Okay, I admit it. It's because the mentors at this academy are too beautiful."

"You know, no one can resist a beautiful mentor, and I'm no exception."

Holland couldn't help but laugh again. Despite being an unreliable big guy, he was also very sweet-tongued. Talking to him was quite pleasant.

However, Holland also knew that Mike was throwing up a smokescreen. While he was praising her, he didn't reveal any useful information. He was indeed an unreliable big guy.
