Lily was looking at her grandmother who was laying peacefully asleep on her bed. All this while she had been by her bedside watching, waiting for her to wake up. Tabitha was now out of danger since the spell had already been broken and everyone was just waiting for her to wake up.
In the meantime, Chris and his mother were outside the door looking at Lily from a distance and they were wearing faces that speculated. They had noticed that Lily was now looking different from how she looked when she got back.
Not long ago, lily was looking very weak and pale and her condition looked quite alarming. And now it was as if they had just imagined it and nothing like that actually happened. Christopher's mother soon ruled it out as side effects of being in the witches' forest. She also said such effects soon wore off once one got further from their premises.
Lily got up from her grandmother's bedside and headed out of the room, walking downstairs towards where Chris and his mother were now sitting. Sitting next to Christopher's mother, she held her hand, "thank you so much auntie," Lily gave a warm smile to Christopher's mother who equally smiled back while rubbing Lily's hands.
"But when do you think she will wake up?" Lily inquired. Christopher's mother immediately wore an expression of concern, "well the thing is she should be awake by now. I am not aware of the reason why she has not responded yet."
The response from Christopher's mother created an impact on Lily as she now looked a little bit worried. Seeing Lily disturbed, Christopher's mother rubbed her shoulder and reassured her, "she will be fine my child, the spell has been broken and she is out of danger.
On top of that, the spell was very strong and Tabitha responded differently due to her age." Lily chose to go with the explanation for the time being but she was sure not going to dismiss her discontentment or that strange feeling she had about this whole matter.
She wanted her grandmother to wake up so that she could finally get to understand what had really happened from her grandmother's point of view.
Lily was feeling very grateful for all the help she had gotten from Christopher's family and immediately remembered something. "Chris and where is the help you had sent to my grandmother? I haven't seen anyone since I got here."
"Oh yea about that, she left a while ago just when I stepped in. She talked about some emergency her folks were having and that they needed extra pair of hands and that she didn't have an option," Chris answered Lily and continued, "and from how she was talking about it, it seemed like it was kinda bad...the situation."
"But still thank you so much Chris, I just thought I could get to see the person who had been taking care of my grandmother when I was away," Lily added.
"Well for the record, she was very very pretty...," Christopher's mother looked at Chris with disbelief but it was only because she was his mother and any person could pretty much expect that kind of a reaction from her.
Seeing how his mother was looking at him, he teased," what mother, but it's true she was pretty but not as pretty as Lily, the normal pretty." Chris followed his statement with a smile as his mother lightly hit him on his arm.
"We should let you rest Lily, we will be on our way," Christopher's mother stated. "Oh and before I forget, that young man who brought you here, I've never seen him around?" Christopher's mother added.
Chris rolled his eyes immediately he heard what his mother was talking about. Lily cleared her throat and stood up from the couch, "he helped me," she hesitated looking for the right words or more like any word that popped out of her mind that didn't sound off, "...yea he is a friend."
Chris squinted his eyes a bit after Lily's response and spoke inwardly, 'a friend mh, that guy is a total stranger to her.' Chris found himself talking in no time, "oh he is a good Samaritan, that was nice of him to help Lily out, right mother?"
"Yes that's right, good people who can help others out are very rare to find these days," Christopher's mother agreed. This response however seemed like something Chris was not looking forward to as he looked even more irritated.
Chris was actually wondering how this guy still turned out to come out as a good person even when he was trying to make him seem like just any random person who was not important at all. He then forced a smile after noticing Lily looking at him and he added, "I sure will thank him if I ever meet him in person for helping out Lily," Chris spoke with a pretentious laugh.
They then walked heading out of Lily's house and Lily tagged along to see them off. Chris then turned around and address Lily, "I'll be back to check on you later and please let me know if you need anything." Lily showed her gratitude and got back inside the house, locking the door behind her.
"They are nice people," Titus remarked from the stairs. "I know you noticed, because they also did," Titus continued. Lily paced around the room listening to Titus. "I know, it is obvious don't you think? I suddenly get well without doing anything about it."
"I don't understand, so you know how you recovered?" Titus questioned with keen interest. He too wondered how Lily had suddenly got better without doing anything about it and just moments ago she looked like she was battling for a good fraction of her life.
"It's Leo, it is him, it must be him," Lily uttered still pacing around. Titus suddenly halted and looked at Lily with shock, "how, you know that is impossible." Lily stopped and looked at Titus too, "I know, but it is the only thing that makes sense. And it seems like we don't know so much about him, we have only been told so little," she continued.
"I'm listening," Titus responded. Lily walked towards the couch where she was laying when she got back, "I was right here...and he was beside me the whole time," she paused nibbling a little on her fingers.
"Then I felt like I had been attacked by some strange energy. I get up and his hands are grazing my pendant, and it immediately disappears at once, just like that." By this time, Titus was equally perplexed.
"That could only mean one thing...," Titus remarked. Lily nodded her head in agreement as she spoke up, "he destroyed the strange attack that had invaded me. But how could it have happened just like that?" Lily was equally in distress about the occurrence.
"Titus what do you think," she quickly looked at Titus for an immediate suggestion of an answer. "Only you can answer that for now. Because the two of you haven't gotten too close or bonded in any way."
Lily immediately stopped and her eyes wondered off as someone who was recalling something. She finally got her answer but she never thought things actually worked that way. Titus noticed the sudden change in Lily's face and got closer.
"What are you not telling me, what happened in the woods?" Titus coaxed Lily. "Nothing, Titus," Lily was quite firm with her answer, leaving Titus no room to keep questioning her. "I ask the questions, remember," she added, leaving that familiar chilling feeling that Titus knew about. He knew better than to question his superior.
"The good thing is that we are now aware of how I got better, I just need to be careful around him," Lily added. Titus walked slowly towards her, "he will soon feel it, his energy had mixed with yours. Be careful, we can't risk anything this soon."
Even though the attack on Lily had already been neutralized, she did not completely ignore the fact that something had actually tried to kill her and neither did Titus. "We have to find it, because it can't be a human," Lily ordered.
She had a feeling that whatever was after her was the same thing that had attacked her grandmother. Right now she was just a few steps from uncovering what it was. All she needed was her grandmother to wake up.
"Do you think it might be connected to the caves?" Titus suggested. "Well we can't ignore that, we must do away with this threat before I head out of town. I need less enemies from this town, infact I should only remaining with one, the guardian," Lily hissed the last bit of her statement sending chills throughout the room as temperatures dropped.
Titus studied her and was aware that Lily had been trying her best to not lose control and that all the obstacles that came through their way just upset her more, making her lose her patience. He was the only creature at the moment who truly recognized what kind of power that Lily possessed and he had learned to fear it over time.
Lily felt a strong pull and then warmth and it all immediately disappeared at once. "Go," she immediately ordered Titus. She closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them and still could not get what that was about.
Before she could wonder more, she heard a knock on the door and she immediately understood that she had sensed someone coming from a distance. She just realized that it was somehow strange that she felt a pull, something that never happens.
She opened the door to Leo looking directly at her. Her heart immediately raced upon the sight of Leo. "Leo.." she opened her mouth to speak and that is the only word that came out. Leo still looking at her, his eyes searching her face,"I was worried sick," she immediately felt lightheaded as Leo suddenly pulled her to his embrace.
