Leo stopped laughing at once and looked at Lily with a pretentious frown, "you mean a guardian can't just be normal like I am?" They both stared at each other and broke into laughter. Leo then took out his atheme and smiled at Lily, "wanna see something not so interesting?"
Lily smiling back at him, sat up and breathed in a relaxed way and nodded her head softly in agreement. She looked at Leo as he unsheathed his athame and held it on his right hand. He then laid it flat on his palm and using his left hand, he ran his fingers in the middle of the blade where there were inscriptions.
In seconds, the inscriptions alone began glowing with a golden glow. The glow was so warm that it made the athame look magical and so immaculate, it looked like a shinning jewel. The glow then intensified bringing out a sharper more reflective light.
Leo then wiped the inscribed parts that were glowing with his left hand. This action made the golden light slowly fade as though it was put out by Leo's action. After the light was completely gone, Leo sheathed the athame and put it away.
He then saw Lily's expression that was reading all-over ' was that it?' and immediately uttered," wait for it..." He then stood up and opened his left palm that he had used to wipe the flame. Lily was still seated on a log of wood looking at Leo keenly.
Then suddenly the golden glow appeared coating his hand, making his whole palm look as though it was glowing like a bright warm torch. Lily kept watching with an intrigued look and immediately fixed her eyes in disbelief as if she had seen an impossibility.
The tiny lights reflected in her eyes as she slowly stood up. She moved closer as she stared at the tinny sparks of golden light that floated in the air. She felt like she was standing within the stars in the sky.
Lily's utter disbelief was immeasurable. She kept staring with awe as she slowly turned looking at the tiny lights above her head. She raised her hand slowly to reach for the sparks and after hesitating for a little while, she touched one with the tip of her finger.
The spark of light she touched glowed even brighter the moment her finger made contact with it. The spark of light the began moving slowly amongst the other sparks that were floating in the air without any movements.
The movement of that one spark continued and as it moved it bounced softly on the other sparks, sending them slightly jumping in the air. The lights kept rotation slowly as they bumped each other and glowed with a brighter intensity.
Lily then instinctively decided to blow slightly on the sparks. They immediately sent a soft pleasant tinkling that rang in the air. The spark then moved towards the ground but did not touch it. They made it look as though Lily and Leo were immersed into the tiny lights.
Lily kept touching the tiny lights with the tip of her finger as she softly swayed her hands within them. Leo could see the amusement in her eyes and how peaceful they looked. Her eyes sparked as a result of the reflection of the tiny lights.
"Just like the stars dancing around the moon...," Lily turned to look at him and softly smiled. She then twirled gracefully, captivated by the lights. She looked very different from her usual firm and serious self.
Leo too noticed this and couldn't help but get carried away by the sight of Lily dancing in the lights. She kept twirling towards Leo as she waved the lights softly towards his direction. "Come on Leo, this is beautiful!" She uttered with a low ecstatic voice.
Leo kept looking at her and smiled softly, he felt like he could look at her little twirl and her charming eyes all night. Just as Lily kept twirling in a carefree manner, she suddenly stumble on a piece of wood and tripped almost landing on the ground.
She abruptly blinked her eyes repeatedly under heavy breathes as she was timely caught by Leo before she could hit the ground. Leo held her with one arm around her waist and the other around her arms.
He slowly stood her up careful enough not to break their eyes contact. Standing awfully close to each other, Lily kept staring into Leo's eyes as she tried to steady her breath.
She could not react immediately, she didn't find herself capable of moving. It's like their stare held her captive in Leo's arms.
She felt the tight wrap of Leo's arm around her waist. She felt the warmth shoot up in her as she registered the feel of his other arm around her own. She wanted to pull away, she wanted so bad to utter something, anything, but she found herself incapable of forming any words at all.
Leo too could not get why he could not let her free from his hold. It was like the lights were binding them together. Their picture standing awfully close to each other, completed the look that sat perfectly with the lights dangling around them.
Leo and Lily kept staring intensely into each other's eyes as though they had been imprisoned there. Then in a second there was movement. Leo slowly let loose his arm that was around Lily's arms and softly removed trails of hair that invaded her beautiful face, sitting on it.
He sofltly tucked them behind her ears, still with the other arm around her waist. He studied her face so close to his and kept looking into her calm blue eyes. There was something about them, they looked as though there were a million thoughts behind them. They looked both troubled and peaceful at the same time.
On the other hand, Lily still did not break the eye contact that kept intensifying as time went by. She could not quite comprehend the feeling and the energy she felt surrounding them. She kept feeling as though she couldn't move. She wondered if it was something else or just her, frozen in place unable to react.
She then moved her head closer, almost bumping it against Leo's. She could feel his warm steady breath as he kept looking at her. The same could not be said about Lily as she breathed heavily wanting to escape Leo's stare.
In an instant, Lily's pendant released a slight red glow. This glow was not the usual kind as it sent her lurching suddenly. Her movement was accompanied by a slight wincing. She stepped away from Leo as he suddenly let her go.
He did not quite place it and wondered what might have happened, resulting to Lily suddenly pulling away from him. As if being shaken back to reality, he saw Lily's sudden change of expression.
Her face was disturbed as she grimaced slowly bending to the ground. She clenched her teeth under the painful moan she was just releasing. Leo was very confused at this point and frowned at the sight of what was just happening. The sudden scene had shocked him beyond reaction.
Leo immediately dashed towards Lily and held her, careful enough to not let her drop on the ground. She looked like she was in so much pain. By this time, Leo had not yet been able to notice the pendant that was deamly glowing since Lily had bent slightly blocking the pendant from Leo's vision.
Lily then let out a loud painful moan as Leo held her seated on the ground. As though in fear of her cry, the little lights dropped onto the ground all at once and went off instantly. Lily let out another painful moan as she gripped tightly the pendant around her neck.
The pendant was once again clenching tightly on her chest as if it was trying to bury itself into her skin. It then sent pulses of red waves into her flesh vibrating all through her body causing her excruciating pain.
This had never happened before since the day she experienced the same thing. It was different this time. Before, the pendant would just clench to her skin and release it. However, this time the pendant even sent waves across her body causing her immense pain.
Leo did not know what to do as all he could do at the moment was hold Lily. He kept trying to sit her up and try and figure out what the problem was but he could not do that as Lily was all curled up and not raising her head at all.
The pain went on for a few seconds until Lily abruptly stopped and rested in Leo's arms slowly taking steady breathes. She pulled away from him and touched her chest where the pendant rested and simultaneously winced.
Looking down on her chest, she noticed the pendant was not glowing anymore. As much as she was in pain, she was relaxed realizing that the pendant had stopped glowing just before Leo could notice it.
Lily was however immediately shocked at the sight of the inflammation that appeared on her skin surrounding the pendant. Other than the scar that was left on the skin under which the ruby stone rested, there was an evenly spread out inflammation that almost looked as it would have turned into a burn if it was given time.
Leo was immediately alarmed at the sight of the scar and inflammation on Lily's chest. It immediately explained why she cried out with so much pain. This time they both were not able to place the cause of the incident.
"What just happened, why do you have burns?" Leo questioned in a very worried and concerned voice. Lily was still calming herself as she slowly replayed the events trying to figure out what might have gone wrong. "I think somebody wants me dead," she uttered looking at Leo.
