Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 – First Kill

Thomas dashed towards Kyle's room and so did Jordan. They realized that since Hank was under suspicion, the best option for him was to disappear. But there was something more enticing than running away, and that would be the treasure that supposedly raised Kyle's power.

Hank searched the whole room, but he hadn't found anything. He decided to hide and ambush Kyle and extract the information from him.

But before he could even see Kyle, Thomas had already caught up and barged into Kyle's room. He didn't care if it would appear inappropriate, he would think of an excuse later. The priority was saving Kyle, and a closed door could mean that Hank was torturing Kyle inside.

It never had crossed his head that Kyle hadn't arrived yet. But still, barging into the room was fruitful. Thomas was a Rank Nine Warrior, much stronger than Hank that was only Rank Four Warrior. Thomas instantly spotted where Hank was hiding and directly lounged in his direction.

Hank tried to avoid but Thomas was much stronger. Hank was sent flying through the window, but Thomas wasn't worried that Hank would scape, because Thomas dashed behind the flying Hank and landed on him. It's worth noting that Kyle's room was on the sixth floor. Hank avoided being landed on but a small margin. It didn't stop Thomas though, Thomas kicked Hank and pinned him on the ground.

Soon after Jordan arrived. He gazed at Hank and shouted "Scum! You still dare to ambush a student. I don't know how a rat like you managed to be a teacher for so long."

"Hahaha. You idiots, you could have been making a fortune, but all you do is care about these stupid orphans." Hank laughed. He was broken already, once he was caught he started spouting nonsense.

Crack!

Thomas feet landed on Hank's jaw and broke it. Hank became unconscious instantly.

"Here you have it, Jordan! Just pay more attention in the future." Thomas said.

Jordan removed a pair of handcuffs from his trousers and locked Hank in place. He cuffed both Hank's feet and Hank's hands. Was there a need for it? Not really, both Jordan and Thomas were way much stronger than Hank. But they did it to avoid trouble.

They started to head back to the administrative building. But shortly after they found Kyle coming back. They noticed that Kyle kept swinging a branch around.

"No wonder we arrived first. This block head only knows how to fight. At the pace he is walking he will only arrive at his room tomorrow." Thomas chuckled.

"What do you mean, he looks like someone with schizophrenia if you ask me." Jordan said.

"Pay attention to his moves. You dumbass." Thomas said.

"What is so … I see now. He is trying to practice the sword beam. But isn't it thought only at the military draft?"

"I taught him the complete set, but never said anything about blood energy. I think he will understand that there is something missing and stop. At least he will know the moves when he gets there."

But suddenly both opened widely. While they were chatting, they completely forgot about Hank. Hank took the opportunity and pounced on the distracted Kyle.

Kyle was obviously not so distracted. He noticed Jordan and Thomas looking at him. But his mind was only filled with understanding the sword beam. He was stimulating the blood energy inside his body, but he was not releasing it. He had released it once and only wanted to train the feeling of moving his blood energy.

He felt his control over the blood energy getting stronger and stronger, he could mobilize greater quantities than when he just discovered blood energy. Still It wasn't enough to be fatal.

Hank was dashing headfirst towards Kyle. Even with his strength restricted by the cuffs, his strength was still similar to that of a Rank One Warrior. His plan was to use his overwhelming strength to when compared against Kyle's and kill Kyle with a headbutt.

When Kyle noticed Hank coming, he slashed his branch and released a sword beam against Hank's head while released all the energy he could muster. Hank was charging like a bull and didn't even notice that Kyle had slashed. Besides, is his thoughts, what could a branch actually do? He would soon find out.

The beam collided with Hank's head and split it open from the top all the way to the neck. Blood soon spurted from Hank's open head towards Kyle and Hank's lifeless body fell on the ground and with the momentum it was dragged until it reached Kyle's foot.

The situation was very gruesome. Lot's of blood started to spurt from Hank's neck, making a puddle of blood on Kyle's feet. Kyle on the other hand was frozen in place. This was the first time he killed someone. And even worse, he acted on a whim. He only wanted to see how much damage he could deal with this sword beam.

The thing is, Jordan and Thomas witnessed everything and were shocked. Not because of Hank's death, he would die anyways, but because of Kyle's sword beam.

"Genius!" Jordan said. He thought that on a moment of fear Kyle suddenly learned how to use blood energy out of instinct.

"Amazing!" Thomas said a little after. "I just told him that there was something missing and he figured it out on his own. Truly a genius!"

But surprisingly, Kyle didn't feel regret or anything. The gruesome death and the lots of blood didn't mess him up. Why? He did something even worse towards Orpal. If anything, Hank's death was too soon.

But why would Kyle feel this way, instead of feeling remorse and nausea? He was beaten a lot when he was weaker. He started to treat life differently than the others. When others could feel empathy, Kyle would ignore it and only think about how to get stronger and escape his fate of being beaten over and over again.

"I'm not in trouble, am I?" Kyle asked.

"Nope, you were just defending yourself, but I've got to ask, when did you learn how to release a sword beam?"

"Just now. I feel that there is something we can move when we practice the abilities. I think that this is what was missing when releasing the sword beam. So I got a branch and decided to see if I could use that energy."

"When I saw Hank charging, I kind of panicked and I used more power than what I was being able to control, soon the sword beam came out." Kyle answered. His heart was calm. This explanation was so good that even he felt that it was truth in a sense. Thomas lie detection ability didn't pick a lie as well.

"Simply amazing. Genius. No wonder you could increase your power so fast, if you're actively moving blood energy while practicing the ability, then it would of course be much faster than just practicing it blindly." Jordan said.

"Kyle. I'll be honest, I was treating you like a student so far, but your case is different. If it wasn't for the tampered book, you would be in a very different place, training what is rightfully yours. But still, you're too late to train there. You can only be like other kids your age. But it's a not a good thing for you since you won't have competition, so you'll start to slack off. Because of that, I'll prepare a special training for you. Meet me tomorrow morning at the gymnasium." Thomas said.

"Uh okay, If it's going to make me stronger, I have no reason to reject it." Kyle said.

"Now let's clean this mess" Jordan said. "Kyle, go to your room and get cleaned. You have blood all over your body."

"Okay, see you. Sorry for the trouble." Kyle said and he walked out from there.

"Oh, by the way, clean your room properly. There may be too much broken glass there." Thomas said.

Kyle only raised his thumbs to show he listened and continued to walk off.

"What a douche. We just told him that he was a genius, and he is already behaving like a snob." Jordan said.

"That is not it. This is just how he is. He only respects strength, everything else is pointless to him." Thomas said. "And I kind of agree with him. Without strength, one cannot protect themselves."

"You two are weirdos, no wonder you guys hit if off well." Jordan chuckled.

"Let's clean this mess, shall we?" Thomas brushed him off and started to lift the body from the ground. He used his ability and a fire formed on his finger, as if his finger was a lighter, but the fire was much stronger than the fire of a normal lighter. Then he moved his finger towards the would on Hank's head and started to cauterize it, so it wouldn't release more blood.

"Here, carry him. I'm going to burn this blood here." Thomas said while passing Hank's body to Jordan. Then Thomas opened his palm and a big fire spread from it, like a flame thrower, it started to burn the ground and the blood on it. Soon, all that was left was the burnt ground.
