Chapter 17 - Echoes of Home

Elizabth POV

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the gentle rays of the sun peeking through the curtains. As I slowly opened my eyes, I realized that I was back at my childhood home. The mist that surrounded the house was slowly fading, revealing the familiar streets and houses that I had known all my life.

It had been years since I last set foot in this place. Ever since our parents died and we had to flee from our distant relatives who wanted to kill us, this house had been abandoned. My two older sisters and I had to leave everything behind and start a new life in a different city. But now, I was back in the place where I spent my happiest moments with my family.

I sat up and looked around, taking in the familiar surroundings. Memories flooded my mind as I remembered the days when we used to play in the backyard and the evenings spent cuddled up with our parents in the living room. But as I looked back on those memories, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness. I was always the invisible child to my two older sisters. They had always believed that I had it easy, but no one ever considered my feelings. I was just tagged along wherever they went, just like when we had to flee from our distant relatives.

With a heavy heart, I got out of bed and walked around the house. As I moved from room to room, I noticed things I had never noticed before. My favorite books on the shelves, my childhood drawings on the walls, and my favorite snacks in the kitchen. It was like they were trying to make me happy, but I had been too blind to see it.

For so long, I had just been tagging along wherever they went, never really feeling like I belonged. Even when we had to flee from our distant relatives, I was just dragged along without anyone considering my feelings. But now, as I looked around the house, I realized that maybe they did care after all. It was a bittersweet moment, feeling both grateful for their efforts and guilty for not appreciating it sooner. But as I looked around, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and comfort in this familiar space. It was then that I realized that this was my home, and my family did care about me. I promised myself to be more observant and thankful from then on.

I had always wondered why my family had to move away from my aunt Anne's warm and welcoming home. I was young and did not fully understand the situation, but as I walked into the living room, I saw a photo of her and memories came flooding back. I remembered how much we loved living with her, and how she made us feel like we belonged.

I realized that this familiar space was where I had felt the most comfort and belonging in my entire life. The warm memories of my aunt and her home made me feel guilty for ever questioning my family's love for me. It wasn't until then, as I looked around the living room, that I realized my family did care for me. They had sacrificed so much to give me the best life they could, and I promised myself to be more observant and thankful from then on. I would never take for granted the love and warmth of my family and the memories we had shared in this special place.

As I sat on the couch, I couldn't help but feel grateful for everything that my sisters and aunt had done for me. They had always tried to make me happy, even when I didn't realize it. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized how much I had taken them for granted.

Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door. I got up to answer it and was surprised to see my two sisters standing there with tears in their eyes. They hugged me tightly and whispered, "We're sorry, Elizabeth. We should have been there for you more."

And in that moment, I knew why I was back at this place. It was a chance for me to see and appreciate everything that my family had done for me. And as we all sat in the living room, sharing stories and memories, I knew that I was finally home.

But just as suddenly as my happiness had arrived, it began to fade away. The colors around me started to blur and fade, and I felt my heart sink. I realized that I was still in the magical realm, and that meant I was still far from finding my sisters. My heart ached at the thought of being separated from them for so long. I missed my parents too, but I knew I had to stay strong and keep searching for my sisters.

With a determined mindset, I continued my journey through the magical realm. I walked through forests and crossed rivers, asking every creature I met if they had seen my sisters. But each time, I was met with a disappointed shake of the head. Despite the challenges, I refused to give up. I knew that my sisters were out there somewhere, waiting for me to find them..
