Chapter 29 - CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN

Ophelia's POV

Sage told me that he had made a decision, regarding becoming emperor and I was not sure how to take it. For all I know he could agree or he'll deny it. I see any of these happening.

"So do you want to tell them today?" I asked.

"That depends on if your mother and you want to go to Alervarn this evening," he told me and I nodded. It was still rather early in the day.

"Okay, um can I know what your decision is?" Curiosity killed the cat.

"Of course, you're the first person I planned to tell," and satisfaction brought it back.

"I am going to agree," I was pleasantly surprised.

"Really? You seemed to be bent on not taking it, what made you change your mind?" And the curiosity was back.

"You,"me?

"Me?"

"Yes, you. One of the reasons I didn't want it was because I didn't want to end up like him, and consequently make you hate me. I don't think I could live with you hating me," my eyebrows drew together.

"Sage you know I could never hate you right?" He so brilliantly exercised his habit of not replying when he didn't know how to word his statement. I mean I do it too, but that's not important.

"You know that right?" I got up to stand in front of him as he sat at the foot of the bed.

He wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me down, I gasped as my head fell on his chest, his hold around me tightened.

"I'm going to Lady Harrington's manor later. Do you want to come?" I asked him, as I drew my name onto his chest, in slanted cursive.

"Of course I am, where you go, I go, remember?" He told me.

"I- What in the- Sage your chest!" I sat up quickly.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Look!" And he looked down on his chest, to see where my name was now written in cursive, and he laughed. This man laughed.

"Don't laugh," I smacked his shoulder.

"This is serious," my eyebrows scrunched together.

"It's not, I love it," he laughed.

"It's like you branded me," he smiled, and I blinked at him.

"You say it like you're a slave."

"For you? Always," see now, I have no clue what to say, because here I am trying to talk, but he goes and says something like that.

"Sage," I groaned.

"Yes love?" He replied and I rolled my eyes.

"Do you think it'll come off?" I asked and he shrugged.

"Who knows," he lifted me into his hands.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Let's go see if it'll wash off," he smirked.

***********************************************

So…it didn't wash off and we have reason to believe that it may be on there permanently.

We were in a pod to go to Lady Harrington's manor.

We got there and I was hoping my teleportation came back soon.

The workers saw me and Sage and instantly bowed. I asked one of the to send for Lady Harrington and a couple minutes later she walked out, with her hands wide.

"My favourite person has arrived," she squealed as I got up to hug her.

"I heard you died," she told me after we pulled apart. This was the first time I was back in Alkazar since the incident, so I am just shocked that she knew.

"Yeah well it didn't stick. I'm just that amazing," she just rolled her eyes at me.

"So you're telling me you cheated death?" She squinted, as she asked.

"Yeah in theory," I shrugged.

"The girl who cheated death,"she dramatized.

"It has a nice ring to it," she giggled, making me laugh.

We were there for a while, but then I told her I had to go, and she walked me to one of the pods, and we were back to the palace.

We had to go see my mother and tell her Sage had made a decision, by 'we' I mean Sage, but I, as the extra I am, had to tag along.

She ended up saying we should go to Alervarn this evening and so that is what we are doing.

After a rather annoying amount of time spent in a void, we were finally in Alervarn, and my mother decided that we would hear Sage's decision over dinner. My father wouldn't have an issue, to him whatever she said went.

We went to my room, and I picked out a book from my shelf.

So I ended up reading a book in Sage's lap. I was becoming rather clingy and it was concerning, at least he didn't seem to mind.

A knock was sounded at my door,"Yes?" I called out.

"It's me, Avila," she said and I tilted my head in confusion.

"Come in," and she walked in.

"When did you start knocking?" I asked with a raised brow.

"Since when I didn't want to be traumatized by seeing something I shouldn't," she rolled her eyes.

"Anyways dinner is ready," she told us and I nodded.

"Get off his lap and go eat," she feigned a gag.

"Go talk to what's that guard's name again? You need it," I teased and her cheeks went pink

"His name is Kai," she muttered under her breath.

"I'm sorry, could you come again?" I was going to enjoy this.

"I said his name is Ka,"she said louder.

"Oh no I heard you the first time," she flipped me off and walked out.

"Come on, princess, you have to eat, let's get you to dinner," Sage told me, twirling a peace of my hair, around his finger

"And you have to make your announcement, let's go," he decided to lift me up and carry me. When we got to the store, I stopped him.

"Hold on, I can walk," I told him.

"I can carry you," he deadpanned.

"I don't see the correlation," I blinked at him, before rolling my eyes.

"My hands have no use, but to hold you," Well then.

"Among other things," his tone dropped, as his eyes slowly looked up and down my body. I was suddenly suffering cognitive failure.

"Okay," I drawled, okay so maybe I did let him carry me, but that was due to my being so mind boggled. I was grateful that in the evening the servants in the halls aren't as much.

He did put me down in front of the doors to the dining hall, so there's that. We walked in, sat down, got half way through dinner and then Sage told them he had made a decision.

"Oh really! What is it?" My mother asked, seeming shocked.

"I shall become emperor," her shock was now unmatched. I don't think she imagined him actually agreeing, I mean, I didn't either. My father on the other hand has a semblance of a smile on his face.

"Well then we have to get planning. We have to hold a meeting,we have to…," my mother started rambling on about all the things we had to do. It was a lot to say the least, as she listed things, Sage's hand found my thigh.
