Ophelia's POV

Sage laid me on my bed and hovered over me. I placed my hands on his chest.

"You are very intimidating when you want to be," I told him and he raised a brow.

"Oh, am I?" He asked and I nodded.

"Your eyes are simply ethereal,"Wow, okay, before I could think of how to reply, his lips were on mine. There was a hunger in the kiss that ignited my senses.

His lips roamed down my jaw, down to the column of my neck, to the top of my bust. I arched into him, biting my lips in pleasure.

He kissed back up to my neck, nipping and biting, which was going to leave a mark but right now I didn't care.

He made quick work with my dress and somehow managed to get it off incredibly quickly, when the dress was gone I was left in my undergarments. His eyes drifted down my body and as he got to my stomach I was suddenly self conscious, I still had the damn scar.

I tried to cover it but he grabbed both my wrists in one of his hands and placed them above my head. He took off his belt and used it to tie me to my headboard, so there was no way in hell I was moving.

"Don't hide anything from me, ever," I blinked up at him, then he kissed down my chest leaving marks down my stomach, kissing my scar.

He grabbed both my legs placing them on his shoulder and I put up a barrier while I could still process my thoughts.

Next thing I knew his head was in between my legs and I was a moaning mess.

Suddenly he stopped, making me whimper. He gently placed my legs down, untied his belt, lifted me up and laid back down so I was untop of him.

"Sit on my face," did I hear him right?

"What did you say?" I needed to verify.

"I said sit on my face," he said again. Oh okay, I did hear him right.

"What if I suffocate you?"

"Then I'll die a happy man. Now sit," and did I listen? Yes.

As I sat down I let out a loud moan. It wasn't long before I was riding his face chasing this ecstacy and I came undone right on his face.

I was convinced I was seeing stars

He lifted me down from his face because I quite obviously wasn't planning to move and placed me by his side. I molded into him and rested my face in the crook of his neck.

"You smell so nice," I whispered into his ears, and I felt his chest rumble as he chuckled.

We - by "we" I mean likely only me- took a nap and I was jolted awake by the sound of a knock on the door.

"Yes?" I asked, my voice still groggy from sleep.

"His and her majesty have sent for the presence of you and Sage in the garden, your highness," Avila's voice sounded from behind the door. She only called me "your highness" where other people could hear.

"Tell them we'll be there in a bit," I called back out to her.

"Okay, your highness," she replied and her footsteps faded.

I jumped out of bed only to realize that I was naked. How could I even forget.

"Princess I like seeing you like this," Sage told me and I rolled my eyes.

"Unless you want me to flash everyone outside I think not," I laughed and Sage's eyes darkened.

"I thought as much," I smirked and went to put on some clothes.

I pulled out a random shirt, a pair of trousers, and some shoes. My hair was a mess, so I let it down.

Sage had to change shirts, he coincidentally had some in my room.

He changed shirts and we walked out of my room. I was really starting to hate walking. I wondered how people did it all the time.

We got to the garden and saw my parents in the gazebo, with an assortment of drinks and snacks in front of them.

"Your majesties," I bowed and Sage did the same.

I made my way to sit down and Sage sat in the chair next to mine.

"How was the party you attended?" My father asked.

"It was interesting," I laughed and my parents looked confused. I did not plan to explain to them what happened. Although in the next meeting I'd probably have to explain to one of the dukes who would put up a scene.

"So you are probably wondering why we called you here,'' my mother started.

"Mother, that was highly ominous, I'm concerned now," I told her and she laughed.

"We called you both here because there is a need to crown a new emperor," what did that have to do with- Sage. It seemed Sage knew this was going because he stiffened next to me. I placed my hand on his to try and ease him and he did relax a bit.

"And we think it should be Sage, because the throne is rightfully his," my father spoke.

"I have never wanted nor intended to take over his throne," Sage explained.

"We understand, but you are the only one who should," my mother said.

"You don't have to agree now, think about it," my father told him and he nodded.

"Of course, your majesties," Save replied.

Sage passed a plate of pastries my way, and I looked down at the plate. I picked up a pastry and took a bite, humming at how good it was.

I looked up at my parents and saw they were already looking at us. This would be optimum timing for the ground to open up and swallow me whole.

We remained there talking and eating, thankfully not about the future emperor.

"I have to get back to Alkazar," my mother said and my father's face fell, to the point I had to stifle a laugh.

"I will come with you," I said standing up.

"I might as well just go today," I murmured, as the stage got up too.

"Arien I have to go," my mother told my father, after he refused to let go of her hands.

When he didn't let her go she whispered something in his ears and he begrudgingly let her go. That was one thing I did not want to know.

I, Sage and my mother went to Alkazar and once again I had to walk. My teleportation better come back quickly.

As we parted ways with my mother and walked down the halls all eyes were on us and to make it worse Sage decided to place his hands on the small of my back.

"Sage what are you doing?" I whispered.

"Verifying their thoughts," I could hear the smirk in his voice.

We got to my room and I flopped on the bed.

"Walking is so hard," I complained and he laughed.

"Don't laugh at me, I don't know how you people do it," I groaned and looked up to see him shaking his head with a smile on his face.

"Do you plan to go to Harrington house today?" He asked.

"No I'll go tomorrow," I said as I sat up.

I took is hand, pulled him down and he willingly fell on the bed next to me. I turned to smile at him and all the muscles in his neck were flexed.

I turned my body fully to him and his veins were literally being corrupted by darkness. What the-

He turned away from me and this was beginning to feel familiar. "Sage you better fucking turn right now," and by the grace of everything good he turned to me.

His eyes were completely black and it wasn't only the veins in his neck, it was the veins everywhere. I sat up quickly, panicking.

"Sage, why? What?! I'm going to get help," I got up but he managed to pull me back down.

"No," he protested, sounding deeply in pain. He obviously needed it.

"What do you mean no?!"

"I don't want anyone to see me like this," Oh heavens.

"Okay, okay, okay, what's going on? Do you know what's going on?" I was trying not to panic but it was harder than it sounded.

"It's not serious," was he serious? Tell me he's joking.

"If you're in pain it fucking is. Now answer me!" he obviously knew what was going on.

"It's the darkness," I looked at him waiting for more information, stroking his hair as if it would help.

"It's breaking me down from the inside," Well FUCK!

"Okay um,"I placed my hands forward. Since it was darkness light magic would work right? Well my light magic was off and I blame that on being stabbed by a scythe made of darkness. I managed to summon a bit even though it felt like needles from the inside, but that was the least of my issues.

The darkness moved but it wouldn't last.

"This isn't going to last, so start explaining."

"As long as I can remember I have been suppressing my darkness."

"Sage it's going to kill you!"

"You are going to self destruct," I told him, if he self destructed, I might as well just join him.

"I can't be like him," he sounded so broken that my heart hurt.

"You aren't like him, you are who you are and he has nothing to do with that," but it didn't seem like he was buying it.

I moved to straddle him, the pulled him up so he could look at me.

"You are not like him. I fell in love with you and that wouldn't have happened if you were like him. You are a good person, the best one I've ever met. You comparing yourself to him is like comparing gold to a speck of dust. You are way better than he ever could have been," there was still doubt in his eyes.

"What if I stop suppressing it and I hurt you?" He sounded like that was what he was most afraid of.

"You won't. You can't hurt me, it's one of the only things you're incapable of."

"You trust me, right?" I asked him, and he nodded instantaneously.

"Good, now trust me when I say you won't hurt me," I saw the darkness creeping back up his neck and it seeping into his eyes.

"Don't suppress it I'm begging you," I leaned in to kiss him, when I pulled back his eyes were pitch black again.

His features seemed as though he was fighting an internal battle. One between who he was and who he thought he was. As his brows drew together, I saw how much who he thought he was, actually haunted him.

His breaths became ragged and next thing I need darkness burst out of him. I held unto him for dear life and when he opened his eyes they were back to normal. The darkness surrounded me, whirling in tendrils all around me. Suddenly it turned bright, and dissapated until the air.

"Did I hurt you? Are you okay?"he placed his hands on my cheeks.

"I should be asking you that! Are YOU okay?" I asked him, tilting my head.

"I'm fine, I feel lighter," he laughed.

"I'm glad," I sighed a sigh of relief.

I got of him, laid down on the bed, then pulled him back down, he laid his head on his chest and I stroked him locs of hair, feeling happy that he was okay now. I want to talk to him about it, but not now.
