Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: A Day in The Life of “Star”

"Star" is known as one of the greatest prodigies in Imperial Military history. He started his career by enlisting at the age of 13 years old. In barely two years he had already been selected to lead an elite War Festival team, the vice captain of which just so happened to be the man formerly known as "Lightning" Chihiro Nakajima.

At the Age of 17 he had risen to the rank of Royal Guard Squad Captain. Three years later he was named Head Captain of the entire Royal Guard. He has served in this position for the past 7 years.

"Star" was the unparalleled strongest man in the Imperial Army. He started every day before the sun rose and started his harsh training regiment. Usually he would receive an order from High Command before his training session was done.

"Good morning Lord Husband. I have breakfast ready for you." Marina said.

Marina was a princess from a well renowned royal family. The marriage between her and "Star" was a political marriage arranged by the Emperor to reward "Star" upon becoming the Head Captain of the Royal Guard. Their relationship was neither hot nor cold, it was a union born from politics not passion.

That being said they had grown to have a certain respect for each other. They had two daughters together aged 7 and 4. "Star" had hoped he would have a son to name as his heir but he still treated his daughters with love and kindness. Or at least as much as a man in his position had the time to muster.

"I have a mission, I should return by midday." "Star" said.

"I see, please be safe." Marina said.

"It's not in my mission parameters to be safe, only to completely my mission quickly and efficiently." "Star" replied.

No mission ever proved to be any sort of challenge for "Star". Entire armies were wiped out by him in the blink of an eye. He had the record for most War Festival victories in history with 3987. What's more, he had won every match in a single blow.

"Star" was of course aware of the conflict between the Emperor's supporters and High Command. As for his loyalty, it lied neither to the Emperor nor to High Command. His loyalty was to the Empire itself, as long as his orders served to grow the Empire he didn't care who they came from. That was the extent of his involvement.

In his younger days, "Star" was an avid reader of the history of the Empire. Though he rarely had time to indulge his hobby these days he still had amassed a collection of historical records that was rivaled only by the universities of Lakashia, and his knowledge was rivaled only by the greatest of scholars.

He often thought of the first emperor Rahan I also known as Rahan the Great. The man who started the Ra Dynasty that has ruled the Empire for 1000 years. His dream was to unite the universe under one rule. His hopes were that once united the universe would see peace. "Star" shared the same dream, and so he had dedicated himself completely to that dream.

He only wished he could have served an Emperor as noble as Rahan I, or an Emperor who was a great warrior like Rahan II. Rahan II was also known as Rahan the Conqueror, he earned that name after winning the First Great Coalition War and gaining large swathes of territory for the Empire. Instead he served a drunk Emperor and the shady politicians of High Command.

Ever since Rahamzat III was named Emperor after his father's mysterious death at the end of the Second Great Coalition War, it had seemed that the Emperors had progressively became more and more reclusive as well as more eccentric. The current Emperor was called Rahamzat XIII, though almost nobody in the Empire even knew that given how little he interacts with people outside of his personal harem.

Once the universe was united it would need a strong, noble leader, and "Star" knew that none of the current Imperial leaders were up to the task. He knew that they would need a new Emperor, but that was a problem for after they finished their conquest.

After missions "Star" would go to his squad's barracks, which was closer to a mansion than a barracks, to take care of his administrative duties

"Hey captain, I heard you just got back from squashing a rebellion. Nice work as usual." "Ice" said jovially. "Ice" was the vice captain of the "Star" Brigade, which was the Royal Guard Squad led by "Star".

"It was nothing." "Star" replied disinterested.

"Did you hear about the 7 Elements? They conquered Extoria. That planet was legendary for its strength, it was quite an impressive feat don't you think?" "Ice" asked.

"For them perhaps." "Star" replied still disinterested.

"You know captain if I didn't know better I'd say that you have some sort of grudge against them or something." "Ice" said.

"I've had enough of this tedious conversation, I have work to do." He said while walking away.

""War" you fool, you should have left when I gave you the chance. If you follow this path, all that awaits you is your doom." He thought to himself.

"Star" always returned home late at night if at all. He worked tirelessly to see his dream of a unified cosmos become a reality. By the time he would return home his wife and daughters were already asleep. He sometimes wished that he had more time and attention to give to his family, but he felt his mission was for the greater good of the universe therefore it took precedence over his personal feelings. Such thoughts couldn't weigh down the Emperor's strongest soldier.
