Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

When Yael woke up, it was already dawn outside the window.

He rubbed his brows for a while before he remembered that after he had given mental counseling to the female insect yesterday, he had felt dizzy and must have passed out.

But there was no pain in his body from overusing mental energy, instead, there was unprecedented comfort and satisfaction.

Realizing something, Yael sat up from the hospital bed. With a thought, his mental power condensed into a ball of light, which danced livelily in the palm of his hand.

"My mental power has become stronger...?"

He seldom uses his mental power, but he also knows that for a D-class male zerg like him, it is normal to be clumsy when giving mental counseling as well as to have just a little menatl power.

But now it seemed as if some barrier had been broken, the feeling of being drained of mental power had disappeared, and abundant warmth flowed through every part of his body.

Yael concentrated his mind and tightened his palms, squeezing the ball of light and breaking it into several small balls.

He examined them one by one, but still found nothing unusual.

At this time, there was a knock on the ward door, and a female nurse poked her head in, "Good morning, sir. How are you feeling?"

Yael came back to his senses and let go of the ball of light, "Much better, where is Dr. Hughes?"

Hughes was the female insect's attending physician who had suggested him to give mental counseling yesterday.

"Dr. Hughes is in the intensive care unit now. Breakfast will be delivered soon. You can see him after breakfast."

  "I see. Thank you."

Yael got out of bed, picked up the new clothes folded beside the bed, went into the bathroom and started washing.

One of those completely forgotten little balls of light bounced into the vase next to the bed.

After a few seconds, a somewhat wilted lily slowly straightened its stem, and tender petals had grown out again.

Retracing his steps by memory, Yael walked to the ward he had been in yesterday, opened the door, and found that the curtain on the bed where the female insect was lying was drawn.

  "doctor?"

He said hesitantly, and the curtain suddenly jolted up and then flattened back down very quickly.

Yael's eyebrows jumped, and his hands were already on the curtain, but he was still a little hesitant as to whether Hughes was checking something, "Doctor Hughes?"

  "Yes, yes, yes."

The curtain was opened from the inside. Hughes had messy brown hair and no unusual expression. "I was checking some more private areas just now, so I closed the curtain."

"A private...area?" Yael was stunned for a moment. "What are the results of the examination?"

Hughes' eyes flickered for a moment, and for some reason he paused before turning his head and continuing, "It's not hurt badly, don't worry."

He lowered his head and flipped through the record sheet, changing the subject. "The female insect's condition has stabilized a little, but it's still not optimistic."

"The hospital can't help any more. Do you want to take him away?"

Yael looked at the female insect on the hospital bed. His face was still pale, but the wounds on his body had recovered a little and did not look so bad. At least he did not look as if he would die in the next second.

He was silent for a moment, then asked, "If I don't take him away, will the hospital still deal with him the same way as before?"

  "Yes."

This is the attitude of the hospital and even the society towards female insects that have no "value". They will not waste resources to rescue them, nor will they possess any sympathy. At most, the hospital will arrange for them a death that is painless. Treating them callously as though they were not people.

Yael was silent for a moment, and suddenly remembered a slogan he saw on a pet shop sign in his previous life:

"It is very troublesome to raise stray animals. Please gain more understanding of them before taking them in. Once you decide to keep them, don't abandon them again, otherwise it will hurt them even more!"

He had only intended to help this female insect, and had no intention of living with him for a long time or taking him as his female servant. But now it was obvious that his hand was only halfway extended, and once he stopped providing assistance, the female insect would still die.

"Okay." Yael sighed softly, "I'll take him away."

Hughes's frowning eyebrows slightly unfurrowed, as if relieved. "Okay, I'll prescribe some emergency medicine for you later, and tell you some precautions."

In the end, a lot of different medicines were prescribed.

There were medicines for stopping bleeding, treating fever, first aid, and sleeping... It covers everything, even for treating hair loss.

But with the experience of raising cats and dogs in his previous life, Yael could tell these were all necessary, so he could only watch Hughes prescribe pages and pages of medicine efficiently.

Yael glanced at his bank balance and found that it was one third less than before he came to the hospital.

But puppies have to be sterilized. He thought coldly, on the bright side, at least females did not need an expensive sterilization process.

"You don't have to worry about how to move the medicine home. The hospital will help with the distribution. Of course, the female insect can also be delivered to your house." Hughes said with a smile.

"The precautions have been sent to your computer. If you have any questions, you can contact me directly. I can provide free remote guidance."

  "Understood."

Yael took the prescription and looked at it carefully, then asked the doctor, "May I have an extra dose of sleeping pills?."

  …

While on the way home, Yael sent a text message to 015, asking it to wait at the door for him.

The hovercraft stopped steadily at the door. Yael opened the door and got out of the car. He gestured at the female insect lying in the back seat, the two mechanical arms of 015 stretched out with a click and carried the female insect into the door in a princess carry.

"Thank you." He closed the car door and nodded to the driver who brought them back.

But the car window was hastily rolled down, "Wait, wait, sir..."

Yael turned around, "What's going on?"

The female insect blushed and hesitated for a while, "Before... before, I didn't understand the whole thing and misunderstood you. I'm really sorry!"

Yael took a look at him and realized that he was the worker who had complained about him abusing the female insect when he brought him in for inspection.

"It's okay, don't take it to heart." He glanced at the female insect's embarrassed expression, smiled, and spoke softly.
