Chapter 165: King of the White Walkers Max Level
____
Seeing the gate drawing closer, the man in blue began to feel a bit of relief.
As long as he made it out of this yard, he believed he'd be safe.
With so many people in the Royal Fist Temple, he couldn't imagine the assassin would continue focusing on him alone.
Dragging others down with him was something he was already accustomed to, and he felt no guilt whatsoever.
"I wonder how many people can actually escape?" he thought.
Just as he was about to exit, the man in blue glanced back.
What he saw froze him in his tracks, his heart nearly stopping in fear.
The small courtyard was now filled with bodies lying in a heap. He didn't count, but from his sharp senses, he knew there were more than thirty of them.
That could only mean no one else had made it out!
A chill ran down his spine.
What kind of monster was that?
Was it even human?
Then another thought struck him: if everyone else was dead, what about him?
As soon as that thought formed, the man in blue felt a sudden buzzing in his head, as if struck by a hammer. His vision blurred, his eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
Aoki stood amid the fallen bodies, slightly surprised. The effect of Soul Shock had exceeded his expectations.
These men weren't as powerful as the Four Rakshasa Demons or the elite eight from a few days ago, but they were still far stronger than ordinary people.
Yet, against Soul Shock, they were utterly defenseless! As Aoki inspected them, his surprise only grew.
"Are they turning into fools?" he muttered.
The man at his feet had regained consciousness, but his eyes were empty, and drool dripped from the corner of his mouth. He appeared completely brain-dead.
And this wasn't an isolated case.
Aoki woke several others, only to find the same results.
Becoming a fool was the mildest outcome. The worst cases were entirely unconscious, reduced to a vegetative state.
"I'll have to be cautious with Soul Shock," Aoki mused, standing up.
What he thought was merely a control skill turned out to be far more dangerous, causing significant damage, ignoring defense, and being incredibly difficult to treat.
It certainly lived up to the two and a half stars of the "King of the White Walkers."
Aoki then tossed the incapacitated men one by one into his different space.
Before, he'd been worried about running out of room for them. Now, with their mental faculties destroyed, he no longer had that concern.
After securing everyone, Aoki looked around. No one was approaching; it seemed the rest of the Royal Fist Temple hadn't noticed the commotion.
But of course, that was impossible.
When he first arrived, Aoki had spotted someone nearby. Clearly, they were all very adept at keeping themselves out of danger.
Not bothering with anyone else, Aoki left.
The group he'd collected would be more than enough for his upgrade.
After Aoki departed, no one ventured near the courtyard. The entire Royal Fist Temple was eerily silent, as if someone had pressed the mute button.
Back at the hotel, Aoki greeted the sisters, who were still awake, before slipping back into his different space.
This time, with more people to handle, the process was more challenging.
Fortunately, Aoki was now well-practiced.
Kill a demon and gain 95 experience points.
…
Intelligence +1.
Free skill point +1.
Kill a demon and gain 135 experience points.
Congratulations, you have leveled up.
Hearing the system prompt, Aoki let out a breath of relief.
After reaching level 24, the experience points he gained had diminished, but this time he had been better prepared.
Opening the system, Aoki allocated 2 free attribute points—1 to agility to bring it in line with his other stats, and the other, instead of his usual increase to strength, he assigned to intelligence.
The intensity of Soul Shock is directly influenced by intelligence. And since Soul Shock is so powerful, it requires special attention.
After allocating his free attribute points, Aoki felt a steady improvement in his strength, but the real highlight was still to come.
He looked at his skill bar.
With 7 free skill points available, it was just enough to unlock level 2 Soul Shock.
A cool sensation flickered briefly in his mind, and before Aoki could fully process it, new information settled in his consciousness.
The biggest difference between level 1 and level 2 Soul Shock is control.
Level 1 Soul Shock is a broad, indiscriminate attack, affecting both friends and foes alike, with no way to differentiate targets.
A single misstep could result in friendly casualties, making it a risky skill to use. It also tended to waste a lot of energy unnecessarily.
At level 2, however, Soul Shock allows Aoki to choose the range and direction of the attack freely.
Now, there's no need to worry about harming allies, and energy consumption is greatly reduced.
Aoki estimated that he could now use Soul Shock three to six times a day, depending on the area affected.
Additionally, he could control the intensity, or more accurately, reduce it.
No longer did he need to fear turning people into fools with a single blow.
In short, while the strength of Soul Shock hadn't increased, its flexibility and efficiency had greatly improved.
"Finally, I have a way to deal with that super dangerous species that controls space," Aoki breathed a sigh of relief.
As someone who used teleportation skills, he knew all too well how tough an opponent like that could be.
But his own control over space powers was clearly inferior to the enemy's.
Without a way to counter it, facing the super dangerous species seemed impossible.
Now, with the mastery of Soul Shock, Aoki finally had a plan.
However, that super dangerous species was ranked higher in power than the "King of the White Walkers."
It was unlikely that Soul Shock would directly reduce such a powerful creature to a fool.
Once it sensed the threat, it might simply escape.
There would probably be just one chance to use it, so Aoki had to be fully prepared.
After a moment of contemplation, Aoki opened the system once more. A deep blue screen appeared before his eyes.

Aoki took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
He had finally reached the limit.
Without triggering the "ultimate mission," the quality of "King of the White Walkers" would no longer improve.
A half-star profession didn't make much of a difference anymore.
To continue growing stronger, Aoki would have to seek a new extraordinary career.
"Dangerous bloodline, imperial weapon…" he thought quietly.
In this world, there were two main paths to acquiring extraordinary power.
Aoki had been trying to explore both, but so far, he hadn't made any significant progress.
The "King of the White Walkers" had reached its maximum potential and no longer required his focus. Now, he could dedicate more time to finding a new extraordinary path.
Between the two options, imperial weapons were far easier to obtain than dangerous bloodlines.
"Looks like my next goal is to find an imperial weapon," Aoki decided.
This had been his primary reason for coming to the imperial capital, though other matters had delayed him.
