Chapter 147: Traitor Kurome

____

A sudden and powerful spatial fluctuation erupted, then quickly contracted.

Aoki was momentarily stunned but quickly snapped back to reality, his gaze shifting to the back of his left hand.

It had been four or five days since he arrived in this world, and the energy in the silver flower had only recovered a small amount.

At this rate, it would take at least three years for the energy to fully restore. This pace was neither fast nor slow, but certainly not ideal.

But now, energy was pouring in rapidly, and in the blink of an eye, the entire flower lit up.

"Full? Completely full?"

Aoki's eyes lit up with surprise.

This kind of bead could actually recharge the "World Shuttle" mark!

Now, as long as he finds the "pole," he can leave at any time.

What's more...

There were four super-dangerous species here. Could that mean there were three more of these silver beads?

Aoki's eyes gleamed with excitement.

Three beads and three quick charging opportunities meant three safeguards.

In a world like this, a three-year charging time was still manageable. However, if he ever entered a world where it would take thousands or even tens of thousands of years to replenish energy, these beads could be life-saving.

He had to find a way to obtain the other three beads!

What once seemed like a cage he desperately wanted to escape had now become a land of fortune and treasures in his eyes.

At that moment, another wave of surprise washed over Aoki.

The spatial fluctuation interference had vanished!

This bead was indeed the source of the interference.

But just as he began to feel relief, his expression shifted again as he looked up.

He couldn't see anything, but he could sense a powerful spatial fluctuation spreading outward.

"Has the super-dangerous creature that controls the power of space returned? Is it because the bead was destroyed? What's the connection between it and the silver bead?"

Countless questions swirled in Aoki's mind, but there were no answers.

He glanced in the direction of the spatial fluctuations, then immediately activated the "Space Mark Shuttle." In an instant, he and Kurome disappeared.

The moment they vanished, a massive four-winged dragon appeared in the sky.

It glanced down, then with a flash, it appeared on the gray land to the east.

When it saw the wound on the Tyrannosaurus Rex's head, intense anger flared in its eyes.

...

One moment it was a primeval forest, and in the blink of an eye, it was a barren mountain covered in ice and snow.

Kurome blinked. "Where are we?"

"Shiranami," Aoki replied.

"We're back?" A hint of surprise appeared in Kurome's eyes. She remembered this city from the northern border of the empire.

"Yes! Let's get out of here first!"

Aoki destroyed a rock beneath his feet and took to the air.

As a spatial ability user, the super-dangerous species obviously had a much better grasp of spatial power than he did.

Although the possibility was low, he had to be prepared in case it decided to pursue them.

Only after they landed near Shiranami and entered the city did Aoki finally relax.

It was safe now.

He gently set Kurome down.

Kurome's body wavered, and Aoki quickly caught her again.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Kurome shook her head, took a deep breath, and stood up straight. "I should go."

Aoki looked at her pale face and asked, "Where are you going? Can I take you there?"

"No"

Kurome pulled out a candy from her snack bag. After eating it, the trembling in her body gradually subsided, and her face regained some color.

It was the last one.

She looked up at Aoki. "I don't even know your name yet"

The two had lived together in the forest for several days but had never asked each other personal questions.

"Aoki"

"My name is Kurome"

A smile appeared on Kurome's face. "I'm leaving"

She waved her hand and trotted away, her figure quickly vanishing from Aoki's sight.

After leaving , Kurome's face turned pale again. She clutched a tree by the roadside, bending over in pain.

She was missing too much medicine, and one pill was just a drop in the bucket, offering no real relief.

"It's been four days. I have to get back as soon as possible"

Kurome struggled to stand up.

The problem was that this was the northern border of the empire, and getting back to the assassination base was no easy task in her current condition.

Three agonizing days passed slowly.

"Hoo... hoo..."

There was no trace of blood left in Kurome's face. Every inch of her body ached, and her muscles trembled uncontrollably.

This journey felt like hell for her.

But she made it.

This was the base of the assassination unit.

Kurome leaned against the wall for support as she slowly walked forward. She knocked on the door with the agreed signal.

A moment later, the door opened, and a black-haired boy stepped out. His eyes widened in shock when he saw her.

"Kurome? Why are you back?"

Kurome lifted her gaze. "What's wrong? Can't I come back?"

The black-haired boy, still surprised, said, "You've been missing for seven days. I thought something happened to you! You look terrible. Are you hurt?"

Kurome shook her head. "I'm just out of medicine."

"That makes sense. Your medicine should have run out five days ago," the boy replied quickly. "Come inside, quickly. It'll be trouble if someone sees you."

Kurome was silent for a moment, then followed him into the room. She looked around. "Where is everyone?"

"There was a big mission yesterday, so everyone went out. I didn't make it. Otherwise, you wouldn't have found anyone here today."

The black-haired boy smiled and said, "Wait here a moment. I'll get you some medicine."

"Good."

Kurome nodded and watched him leave, waiting silently.

Suddenly, despite the pain in her body, she dodged to the side.

Whoosh!

A bullet pierced the spot on the sofa where she had just been sitting.

The black-haired boy returned, his smile gone. He held a pistol in his hand and was flanked by four others, two men and two women.

"Why?" Kurome asked, puzzled.

The black-haired boy replied coldly, "Kurome, you betrayed the empire and have been removed from the assassin's list."

"I didn't betray anyone!" Kurome's voice wavered.

"So where have you been these past days?"

The black-haired boy's tone was icy. "After completing your mission, you disappeared for seven days. Your medicine should have run out long ago, but you didn't return."

Kurome explained, "I... I was teleported to a secret place by a super-dangerous species, and I only just escaped today."

"You have eight puppets, Desutaguru, and so many others, yet you were still stopped by dangerous creatures?"

"They weren't ordinary dangerous species. There were three super-dangerous species there."

"Three super-dangerous species? Why haven't I heard of such a dangerous place in the empire? Can you tell me where it is?"

The black-haired boy sneered, and the others looked on with indifference.

"Where is Wilfred? I want to speak to him in person!" Kurome took a deep breath. She really couldn't answer his question.

The black-haired boy raised his pistol, aiming it at Kurome's forehead. "No need, Kurome. You've been branded a traitor and are on the assassin's hit list."
