Chapter 22 - Empire

"Welcome to the new edition of Battle of Empires! Are you excited for this?" said a dark-skinned man with black hair and brown eyes, holding a microphone.

Inside the game, a berserker wielding a huge axe sliced three mages in half while eyeing a dark mage several meters away. The dark mage spun his staff, floating in front of him, and unleashed a massive black wave, hitting all the players in front of him, causing a poison effect and paralyzing them.

"Triumphant return... never gonna happen," said the dark mage as he landed on the ground, picking up his staff and looking ahead to see all eight players of the opposing team paralyzed.

"What an idiot, an entire team made up of mages," said the berserker, holding his huge axe. Orange energy coursed through his body, removing the paralyzing and poisoning effects. He struck the ground in front of him, which instead of cracking, released the orange energy that spread throughout the arena, removing the negative effects from his team members.

"Resonance," said the berserker, pulling the axe from the ground and running towards the opposing team, which consisted of four mages dressed in different colored robes and wielding flashy staffs.

"Trinsta, finish them off," said the archer, who had finally managed to move again, and was now looking at the four mages charging four different attacks: wind, fire, electricity, and gravity.

The archer then shot a black arrow with red details, which duplicated into seventy-seven versions. They avoided the berserker's body and headed towards the mages.

The mages dodged all the arrows, with the blue-robed mage firing a burst of fire that consumed all the arrows, turning them into nothing.

"Go now," said one of the three remaining mages, who then fired their spells at the berserker: one cast lightning bolts that rose from the ground and hit anyone in front of them.

Seeing the small lightning bolts coming from his side, the berserker jumped forward and ducked, avoiding the wind-formed birds that cut everything they touched, hitting the archer who was out of arrows. The magic that stopped the berserker ended up defeating his teammates who had not yet recovered their movement.

"Newbies, you're good..." said the berserker, stomping his toes on the ground, dropping his huge axe, and leaping forward, landing behind the four mages.

The berserker spun his body, creating a huge arm made of orange energy, hitting the four mages and throwing them against the wall, defeating them. He then stopped in the middle of the arena, and outside the game, the commentators went wild, saying, "That's it, the battle has just begun and the death of autumn has already dominated a new empire."

In front of a computer screen, the player who played the berserker, a red-haired and blue-eyed young man, sighed as he got up, wearing a white hoodie with red and black details that crossed on the back forming a shield pierced by a scythe. He walked away from the area, leaving his teammates smiling more for the people in the audience.

"Hey brother, what are you watching?" Evina said, hugging Dmitry from behind around the neck. Looking at the TV, he saw the commentators discussing the best parts of the first match of the new edition of Battle of Empires. Surprised, he said, "Brother, didn't you say it got boring and you wouldn't watch Battle of Empires anymore?"

"An old friend of mine returned to play professionally, but it seems nothing has changed, maybe even worsened since the mass player exit," Dmitry said, turning off the TV, smiling at his sister. He saw a message from Mirian on his phone screen saying, "Hey, professional, how long have you been at the end of the tutorial, or did you get scared and skip it?"

"Hey, is someone dating and didn't tell his little sister?" Evina said, jumping in front and sitting next to him, grabbing his phone. "Mirian is a pretty name, and her photo is as beautiful as my brother."

"Yes, you're being nosy, okay?" Dmitry said, taking his phone back from her hand and standing up in front of her. He handed her the TV remote, saying, "Now you can watch whatever you want, I have something to finish." Dmitry waved his phone as he walked towards his room.

"See you in a century, brother. And when you come back, introduce me to your girlfriend, okay?" Evina said with a light laugh as she lay down on the couch and started changing channels.

Inside the game

"Now it's time to return to the arm hunt. Are you two ready? We have seventeen years for this," Dmitry said, looking at the game screen in front of him, showing the time left until the end of the tutorial.

[World = currently in year 83. 17 years, 13 Hours, and 42 Minutes remaining until the birth of the Altair key]

"Master, which weapon should we go after first?" Luke said, sitting on his house's couch, running his hand through Trins' hair, who was sleeping with her head resting on Luke's thighs.

Dmitry looked at the map in front of him, zooming in on a place showing several burnt trees and animals with a throne made of wood and vines.

"A Dragonic. I hope it won't be exhausting," Trins said, getting up from the couch, creating a huge shadow rabbit that hugged her as she walked to the door. Looking at Luke and Dmitry, she said, "Shall we go? Our rightful place, right?"
