Chereads / Kampf / Chapter 34 - The Unification of Australis - 1st Week

Chapter 34 - The Unification of Australis - 1st Week

"Alright! We are back from the commercials! Still here with us are the two Commanders from the Division Spezielle Operationen! Good evening to you two again."

""Good evening.""

"Before the commercial break, earlier, we had watched his Majesty's speech before the Unification of Australis. Though, I am a bit curious, what's your opinion with regards to that speech?"

Tobias, the male and the current vice-commander of Division Spezielle Operationen, coughed softly and spoke.

"Well, it was a beautiful speech."

Tina, the woman and the current company commander of the 4th Unterstützungskräfte der Division Spezielle Operationen, seconded her husband's opinion.

"It was a beautiful speech, indeed."

The two people, the male and woman, nodded at each other. Afterwards, Tobias continued.

"It is a speech that truly aimed to unite the citizens of Australis at that time. You can see the impact it had, as it inspired countless people to believe in a unified future. It's not just the words, but the way His Majesty stood there, facing the crowd with such intensity, his crimson eyes locking onto every gaze like he was speaking to each person directly. It's no wonder so many rallied behind him."

Tina chimed in more of her opinion.

"The fact that he openly declared his willingness to fight on the frontlines also made the speech even more powerful. Leaders don't usually make such bold promises. It wasn't just rhetoric, people could truly feel his determination."

The host of the show also nodded in agreement, a thoughtful look on his face.

"That's right. His Majesty didn't just speak of unity; he embodied it. His words, especially the line about the one who passes the sentence swinging the sword, resonated deeply with the people. It's as if he knew the weight of leadership and responsibility, and that's something the crowd couldn't forget."

"To tell you the truth, I was also one of the people in that crowd. I was just a measly 5 year old back then. Although it was a bit blurry to remember, I can still see the fervent expression on my father and mother's face. It is one of the things that truly stuck inside my head. Well…. Anyway, let's move on to the next part of our interview today! So… if you can, please share with us any information about the war."

The two soldiers, Tobias and Tina, looked at each other and nodded.

After a few seconds contemplating, Tobias first spoke to the host.

"Hmm… You see… What we would be sharing here is something considered as 'confidential'.... however, we had already received permission from His Majesty about this. So… From now on, you will hear the true events that happened back then. You will see irrefutable confidential documents, which will definitely prove the authenticity of the events that we would share."

Tina then added.

"Though you all know the general timeline that happened during the war, what we would be sharing are those that happened behind the scenes. Those considerations that we considered. All those strategies we strategized. And the true reason, why our 'neighbors' are hell bent on destroying the Empire…"

Tobias then started the story.

"For now, we would be starting the story during the Unification of the Australis Continent… His Majesty, formerly his Highness, had devised a plan that would take the English Australis side rapidly. He wanted to finish the war within a month and… he did it."

The host then said.

"Wow! How did His Majesty do that? I guess it must have been hard since the logistics of this would be hard… Moreover, he wanted to finish the war within a month…. How did his majesty do it?"

"Well… he employed numerous revolutionary tactics during that time, first of all, even before the war started, he employed numerous operations. He readied numerous supplies to ensure that during the war against the English Australis, our army was well fed and prepared."

"His Majesty had also revamped the Australis army's training. His Majesty had always stated in the meetings that with better preparation, we had already won the war by at least a half."

"That's truly a great quote… "With better preparation… we had already won the war…" it's a quote that gives goosebumps you know?"

"That is true, even now, in the military and the Special Operation, our preparations were always, always, always, much more intensive that the actual operation itself… Going back, He had also employed numerous intelligence officers to gather information and to draw a more detailed map, like where the Anti-Air units are at, where the supply stations are at, all of these were gathered before the war."

Tina then said.

"Yes, to tell you the truth, I was also one of the intelligence officers that were sent to gather information for His Majesty. I was formerly part of the Empire's Imperialer Nachrichtendienst (Imperial Intelligence Service) also known as the IND. I was integrated into the Special Operations Group as a squad leader."

"Anyway, we conducted numerous intelligence gatherings. I was one of the agents to be sent to Melbourne…. and that is the first confidential matter that you would be hearing of today, hahaha."

The host then said, also laughingly.

"The first of many, I assume."

Tina gave the host a soft smile.

"Yes, the first of many indeed. So moving on, we did not only gather evidence for the former prince. We also conducted numerous operations that his Majesty called Misinformation Warfare. This type of warfare was first introduced during his Majesty's tactic against the former Dacian Duchy, now known as the Dacian Republic."

"The strategy involves spreading malicious information against the Mayor, leader, councilmen, or any other leading figures of the opposition. This is done in order to win over the citizens of the other side or at least induce some distrust of the citizens towards their leaders… or… hopefully make the leaders distrust themselves."

The host then interrupted her for a brief moment and said.

"Wait… does this mean that you were ordered to spread some information that is untrue in order to garner the citizens' distrust?"

"Oh nein, nein. What we were ordered to do is to gather something that is unpleasant about the leaders and make it larger. For example, one councilman during the Unification of Australis has a secret belief that everything must stay within the family…."

"And what does that mean?"

"... I don't know if I can say this on live television…"

"It's okay, it's late in the evening, and… what harm does saying a single phrase can do?"

"Well…. He fucks his daughter."

*GASP*

All the audience within the studio, and those watching the show in their home gasped.

*Ehem ehem* "

"Well… it surely is… harmful…."

Tina shrugged her shoulders and then continued her story.

"Moving on, that was one of the information that we 'gigantisized' in order to conduct the warfare. Although at least a half of the people within English Australis didn't believe it at first, the seed of doubt laid within the mind of the common people back then was immense."

"This seed bloomed into a flower when the citizens of English Australis found out that this information is really true. There were distrusts not only to that particular councilman, but also to the other councilmen as well. It really is a great harvest…"

"Anyway, these all happened during the two months of preparation before the unification started…"

Tina then signaled to Tobias to continue the story.

"Well, after the preparation, it was time to start… The main tactic that His Majesty used against the enemy is a highly mobile mode of warfare that his Majesty dubbed as the 'Blitzkrieg'. The 'Blitzkrieg' is a fast paced strategy that his Majesty devised in order to win Eastern Australis within a month."

"This is a good strategy to use against the enemy, since the enemy are using the strategy known as Trench Warfare…. It is a defensive strategy that aims to hold the enemy… the problem is… our armies are much better."

"Now… I would tell you the details of the Unification… How it happened, and what happened."

Day 1 of the Unification Warfare.

6:00 in the morning.

Felix is looking at his army.

Currently, there are at least a thousand armored personnel carriers in front of him right now. These APCs have at least 16 soldiers each which consists of one squad.

Behind these APCs are the supply carriers which carry the supplies needed to fuel the entire operation. Together with these supply carriers are the newly made Paladin tanks. Its numbers are only composed of 5 units, yet it still packs a punch.

In front of the APCs are the formidable tanks of the army. These consist of at least a thousand tanks. The main tank of this army is the tank used by the Western Australis, which is the Panzer III. The other part is the one created by the brilliant minds of the Empire's factory, sent from mainland Germany and is integrated into the Special Operations Group, the Tiger I.

The Tiger I company is only composed of a measly 36 tanks, however, the sheer offensive strength and defensive capabilities of these tanks are second-to-none in the current times. They are the forefront and the vanguard of this offensive operation.

High up in the skies are the mages. They are used by the army as the Quick Reaction Force so they are at guard at all times… This is only the case for those mages of the Western Australis…. The mages of the Special Operations Group are rather lax…

Tanya, herself, is sitting beside Felix in the car, shades on, her legs atop each other, and is gulping a cold mango shake with her straw… She is taking advantage of the coldness brought by Felix's drawn rune…

Previously, with his new eyes, Felix had seen numerous runes brought about by the new functions of his eyes. Though he cannot use his eyes for a long period of time, he had still studied some runes.

One such rune is the rune for 'ice', which is symbolized by the symbol …. Currently, he can draw it for a bit and summon some cold for a while. Eventually, the coldness would only last for 30 minutes, before it can be renewed…

Felix also taught the rune symbol to Tanya but… it seems that only he can draw it… He had also tried to teach Tanya how the mana should flow in the symbols but… it only resulted in an explosion, with Tanya's face being smothered black, and a punch towards Felix cheek.

Anyway, due to that, Tanya is currently using Felix as a portable refrigerator......…..

Moving on… Felix also looked higher up in the sky. There, he can see numerous planes flying as reconnaissance for the army. Once they found any anomaly, they would immediately report it towards Felix.

Notably, these planes are only the Biplanes used by the Western Australis. The BF-109s and the Me-262s are still at the airfields at Adelaide and or at the way towards their current destination.

The BF-109s are intended to be the main aerial force of the army against the enemy's aerial targets.

The Me-262s on the other hand, are only intended to be used for one operation only since they are still at its experimentation stage yet… He left them behind for now since it is not time yet.

It's not time to use them yet… Let's use them at least during the middle of the war, so that fewer eyes are watching.

Felix is currently looking high in the sky, towards the East where the sun rises from.

Looking at the deeply thinking Felix, Tanya kicks Felix's leg and asks him.

"What's gotten into my portable refrigerator's head?"

Felix looked at Tanya who kicked him, but he paid it no mind.

"Well… I just feel nervous…"

"About this war?"

"Yes. About this war… It's my first time being the leader of such a huge army…. From planning to execution, I created all of it… and it also means that I am also the one to be blamed in case something happens…"

Tanya gave a small smirk towards Felix.

"Don't worry. Nothing bad can happen. Plus, the two of us alone can level an entire city by ourselves, so… if push comes to shove, let's just level all the cities and eventually we would be achieving victory right?"

"That's…. Bad. I do not want to implicate any citizens as much as possible since eventually, they would become our citizens. In addition to that, I am also thinking of those people in white… I have a big feeling that they would attack at some point during the war…."

Tanya brought down her sunglasses to his lips and gave a thoughtful look.

"Hmm… those bunch of bitches are also a pain in the ass huh?"

"Yeah…"

The two were in silence for a moment, before Tanya broke it.

"Well, we'll just kick their asses as usual."

Felix smiled towards Tanya.

"Yeah."

A few moments later, a message came in from the radio.

"Your highness!"

*bzzt*

Felix picked up the radio and said.

"This is Eagle-1 speaking, please refer to me as Eagle-1 over."

*bzzt*

"Alright, Eagle-1. We are currently 20 kilometers away from the town of Mildura. Around 18 kilometers away from us are the hastily made trenches. How should we proceed? Over."

*bzzt*

Felix leaned over the chair of his vehicle and said.

"So it begins…"

Hmm… Information had said that they have made most of their defenses on the Southern Part of Australis. They thought that we were attacking that side, while in fact, we aimed for the city north of Melbourne, Mildura… This is a great chance.

After a few moments of contemplating, he radioed again to deliver his orders.

"This is Eagle-1, proceed to annihilation of the trenches. Send the Aerial planes and the Western Australis mages towards them. Also order the whole army to hasten the vehicles, by the time we eat our lunches, we need to have control of Mildura, over."

*bzzt*

"Copy that, Eagle-1. How about the mode of engagement? Over."

*bzzt*

"Annihilation. But spare those who surrendered. Over."

*bzzt*

"Copy that, Eagle-1. Control out."

*bzzt*

At the trenches.

A man, who aims to go home to his family at night, is currently 2 kilometers away from their own city, Mildura.

His squad was situated here at the city of Mildura by a higher up, because apparently, their squad is made up of those who believe in a unified Australis.

They were also one of those who initially believed that one of the Councilmen was inbreeding.

Due to that, they were sent to Mildura thinking that they would be away from all fighting, in order to garner awards,

Their own leaders are thinking that this is an easy fight, since the information they have shows that the Western Australis' army is insignificant if compared to their own….

Little did they know, these information that they have are faked, and most of their informants had jumped ship or are now dead, buried six feet under, or are fed to the dogs.

They were also deceived to think that the Western Australis army would attack via the Southern route, which leads us to this current situation.

It was 6:00 in the morning and the man brushed off the sweat dripping from his forehead.

Damn, to think that the Germans would attack this side…. Those fucking Councilmen!

His friend, his co-squad member, is also digging trenches.

Unlike him who is silently cursing the councilmen, this friend of his is vocal with his curses.

"Those fucking rats who only know how to sit on their fucking rusted seats! I swear to God, I would bury a fucking hole in between their eyes! Most especially that one fucking councilmen! I would bore a hole into his fucking genitalia so that he could not procreate with his fucking daughter anymore!"

The man laughed at his friend, and so did his co-squad mates.

Their apparent squad leader was also vocal, yet he still maintained a dignified attitude.

"Well, they are fuckers for sure, but we still need to do this if we want to keep our families safe and sound…"

The squadmates now went back to work and silently dug…

The man also continued digging, while thinking of his family currently in Mildura.

I hope they are safe… We do not know how strong the army they have brought but…. I hope they are not vicious enough to harm the citizens… Please… God…

The man continued to dig. His calloused hands were the results of his training and his service to his country, yet his own country brought him a disservice… He was not the only one who was thinking of this, his squadmates too…

The whole squad sat for a moment to drink a bit from their own canteens.

Earlier, they had noticed numerous fighter planes encircling their position… They only attributed it to being a reconnaissance plane since it does not send a single bomb towards their trenches…

However, now… there was not a single plane flying above them.

They thought that the plane was only refueling but…. They suddenly felt tremors on their feet…

The canteen that they had been clutching is also shaking, whilst the water inside it is being thrown around due to the sheer intensity of the shaking.

They looked around to find the source of the shaking when suddenly one of the squadmates pointed towards the north…

"L-LOOK!"

All of the squad members looked towards the direction the person was pointing at… and they were scared out of their wits.

*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*

Continuous explosions are currently happening in the trenches they have painstakingly built. The explosions are currently crawling closer towards them…

*BOOM* *BOOM*

The man stood in shock, as well as his squadmates… This is the first time they had been to war so… freezing in shock like this is quite common. They were previously ordinary people, forced to be enlisted by the horrors of war.

*BOOM* *BOOM*

The explosions are coming closer and closer to their position.

*BOOM* *BOOM*

Their squad leader, a true soldier who had been to multiple fights, hurriedly told his squadmates to wave their white flag.

Even though he had heard his squad leader, he still stood still in shock.

*BOOM* *BOOM*

The squad leader ran towards the man at full speed and grabbed his collar.

"ARE YOU DEAF?! IF YOU WANT TO FUCKING LEAVE HERE AND RETURN TO YOUR FAMILY THEN HURRY AND HOIST THE GOD DAMN WHITE FLAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

One of the squad members then said.

"B-b-but w-w-we can't… w-w-we w-w-would be branded as t-t-traitors!"

The squad leader looked towards the man who spoked.

"I would rather live as a traitor than serve my goddamn forsaken country who abandoned me to die! And by the way, this country will soon be fucking destroyed!"

Hearing the words of their squad leader, they quickly found and waved the white flag.

*BOOM* *BOOM*

Hearing the continually approaching series of explosions, they are hoping that the enemy fighters will see the flag that they are waving…

*BOOM* *BOOM*

As the explosions continued to approach, the squad members also counted in their minds the time needed for the explosions to reach their place…

One..

*BOOM*

Two.

*BOOM*

They thought that in 5 seconds, the bomb would be dropped atop them….

*BOOM*

Three

*BOOM*

Four

*BOOM*

They closed their eyes, hoping that God would save them.

*BOOM*

Six

*BOOM*

.......

They lived.

The explosion continued behind them…

The white flag that they waved was indicative that they are surrendering…

They attempted to put down the flag but their squad leader stopped them.

"What the fuck are you doing?! Don't put down the flag!!! There will be another force that would be sent here to cleanup this fucking mess, and we do not want to be fucking killed by those!"

As soon as the squad leader said this, they could hear numerous mages zooming at the distance picking off any people who had survived the initial bombing…

They immediately raised the flag again, this time, a bit higher…

The squad leader then looked around his squad members, with the sounds of gunshot and explosion around them..

"You guys… Pray that these Imperial bitches know how to spare the citizens…"

The people immediately grabbed any religious item that they have, knelt down and prayed. The man also did the same too.

Please… God… If you are out there… Please... Let the Empire spare the citizens… Please….

________________________

Mildura was occupied within a mere hour.

It took them exactly 2 hours, with an hour to travel to Mildura…. And an hour to occupy it…

There were no enemy forces within the city, since all of them were sent to the frontline to dig for trenches…

The ones who only remained are the local police force, which quickly surrendered to the Imperial Forces.

Luck for them, the Empire had managed to spare the citizens and those who surrendered… They announced that they would be future citizens so… they are already treating them as such…

Unfortunately, a message was sent towards the main army in the Southern part….

Although it would take at least 2 days for the main army to reach them, Felix issued a no-rest order and continued to travel south towards Bendigo, leaving only a contingent force for guarding and for the supply depot to be created within Mildura.

Going to Bendigo…

Since leaders of Bendigo had already received the message, they hastily readied a formidable trench as a defense, however it was still hastily made….

It was the middle of the night, around 12 midnight…

The night posts of the English Australis army suddenly felt tremors… One man thought that it was a one time tremor since it is time for an earthquake to come to Bendigo but… it continued.

The man woke up his commanding officer to inform him of the tremors.

"S-sir… The tremors are increasing…"

The sleeping commanding officer was annoyed that he was woken up.

"You bloody bastard! It might be an earthquake, you muppet!"

"B-b-but sir! It had already been 10 minutes since the tremor started! It might already be the enemy!"

"The enemy you reckon? Are you mad or something? You think that they would not need to rest?"

"B-but sir!"

"Alright, alright, you bloody bastard, hand me the telescope, fast!"

The soldier immediately handed a telescope towards his commanding officer.

The officer immediately stood up and looked towards the distance with the telescope, at first he noticed nothing… but then, he saw shadows creeping in through the fog of the night. This shadow doubled into two shadows, into four, into eight, and eventually it continued to increase as the seconds passed by…

He immediately knew what this was so he shouted.

"HURRY! RING THE AIR HORN!!"

The soldier immediately went towards the air horn but… an explosive spell went towards the outpost… obliterating the soldier and his commanding officer…..

They were not the only outpost to be hit, all of the English's side outposts were cleared.

The series of explosions had woken up the whole English Australis army but… it was too late, numerous explosive spells were raining down on the trenches.

The tanks continued onward towards the trenches, occasionally firing their tank shells towards the trenches, with their machine guns continually firing for the enemies' heads.

The mages of the English side flew towards the tanks in order to incapacitate them but… they were quickly taken care of by the 908th Spezialoperationen Kampfmagier "Salamander" formerly known as the 203rd Aerial Imperial Mages, Tanya's squad.

Tanya herself didn't even fly and just stayed by Felix's side…

Now, the army cornered in the trenches contacted Bendigo Control for artillery strikes from the city of Bendigo towards the enemy tanks but… all they heard was static…

Little did they know, 2 squads of Felix's 1st Fallschirmjägerkompanie "Falke", or paratroopers, parachuted in the night, above the city.

You might be wondering, how could they parachute safely, if there are night watchers throughout the city? Well, they were cleaned up by a squad of Felix's 2nd Fernspählehrkompanie "Gespenst". These ghosts were mainly used as a sniper squad during this operation, with some securing the important train networks of the continent.

The paratroopers' role in this operation was to quickly occupy the artillery and anti-air installations within the city, and they had succeeded. Some paratroopers were also tasked to secure the supply stations within the city, cutting off any supply towards the frontlines.

With these successes, you might have thought that they would sleep and rest? But no.

This time, Felix also ordered a no-rest situation, until they had reached Ballarat, a city just north-east of Melbourne.

Now you might think that this is too taxing for the soldiers, most likely to those who will drive, but this is quite not true. You see, the normal soldiers used this time as a time to sleep, since they were initially trained by Felix for numerous situations in preparation particularly for this situation. There are also second and third drivers who changed for the tired driver.

It is taxing to the mind, but they were trained by Felix to continue fighting for at least 3 to 5 battles straight.

Felix himself was also not resting, but instead was observing the situation of the battlefield.

It took Felix's army to occupy Bendigo a total of 4 hours to occupy the city and cleanse it from any enemy soldiers.

During this time, Felix gathered his company leaders, the leaders of some of Felix's 11 companies within his Division Spezielle Operationen together with Zettour.

He tasked them to attack a special military installation north of Melbourne and east of Bendigo.

"So… the aim for this operation is to quickly incapacitate a main military installation of the Englishmen."

Zettour then asked Felix.

"So… your highness… their task is to quickly occupy the military installation known as Puckapunyal?"

"Yes. I had already sent some Gespenst operators towards the military installation."

The Company leader of the 2nd Fernspählehrkompanie "Gespenst" nodded.

"Yes, his highness had already sent some operators, and they are now ready to provide intel and sniper support for those that will be sent."

Felix nodded as well.

"Good. For this operation, I want two paratrooper squads, 18 of the current Tigers we have, one BF-109 squadron, and the 908th mages. I would also send a regiment of soldiers for you."

Tanya looked at Felix with a deadpan stare.

You are making me work?

Felix replied via the connection they both have.

Of course, after making me your portable refrigerator for at least a day now, I think it is time for you to work, right?

Tanya looked towards Felix straight and after a few seconds, she replied.

Alright, but add more days for my portable refrigerator.

No.

Add.

No.

Please.

No.

Oh come on, please do it for me…

Tanya used her signature look, the crying face, towards Felix.

N-O.

She eventually returned to her deadpan look.

Fuck! Eventually, someday, you would become my personal refrigerator, aircon, heater, and whatnot!

Sure, that is if you marry me.

Ew, anyway, if you want to send me, I need a reason.

Well… you are the strongest in this division,,, of course apart from me.

I am stronger than you though.

Well, anyway, I want to make sure that the entire operation would be smooth, and if you are there, I would be greatly relieved.

Tanya then asked Felix.

What if something really happened? How can you account for my safety and your division's safety?

That's why I would also be sending the 909th, my own personal guards with you.

Tanya then looked towards Felix with a serious expression.

Are you serious about that? How about you?

I'll be fine… plus, that big eagle would also be with me.

I see…. Alright, since you trust me so much, I would repay it as much as possible.

Thanks, I'll make a Tiramisu cake for you after the war.

GOOD! DON'T FORGET ABOUT YOUR PROMISE!

Felix smiled towards Tanya.

The people around them noticed the two's silent conversation and they found it cute.

Ahh youth.

"Anyway, whilst you are going towards Puckapunyal, the rest of the division and the whole army will continue on towards Ballarat. Dismissed."

All of the people in the room saluted towards Felix.

""For the Empire.""

"For the Empire.'

All of the people left in order to get ready for Felix's order….

____________________

It is currently Day 2 of the Unification War.

16:00.

It had taken the Germans a day and 4 hours for them to take 2 major towns/cities from the Englishmen.

They refueled their tanks and vehicles for a bit before heading towards Ballarat.

This is unprecedented when it comes to warfare.

Although there are situations where a larger army would definitely win against a smaller army, this kind of rapid occupation is definitely unprecedented….

Currently, the main army of the Englishmen are situated at Ballarat. North of the city, around 10 kms away, is the trench made by the army. This trench is a formidable trench which is made with a complex star shaped trench.

The trench is also supported by numerous artillery guns firing from 5kms behind them. This is to ensure that they would be safe, whilst still firing safely from behind.

On the other side of the Englishmen, around 10 kms away from the trenches, are the Germans. Leading the line are formidable tanks that the Englishmen had never seen before, but they can guess the formidability of such machines.

Felix is currently standing atop a tank waiting for something…

In the distance, that 'something' eventually came.

This 'something' is Felix's eagle, Goldy.

On Goldy's beak is a letter, which he delivered straight to Felix's lap. He then eventually looked cutely towards Felix, to which Felix gave him a big mountain of dead rabbits… which was gobbled instantly…

Felix immediately opened the letter and smirked.

"Alright men, sound the horn of the Englishmen's death, and our victory!"

A resounding horn can be heard all throughout the battlefield.

After this, the tank companies of Felix's army started to go forward, without any support from artillery or mages.

The commander of the Englishmen, looking at this, laughed at the 'stupidity' of the enemy commander.

"Are they bloody retarded? Sending their precious tanks in the frontline without any support, are they muppets or something? Quickly send mages to counter this stupidity."

"Understood sir, how many should we send?"

"Send all of them. We need to instill fear into these bastards."

"Understood sir."

The officer immediately called for the mages to be deployed.

As soon as the orders were sent, numerous flying mages were dotting the sky. Their numbers are at least 150.

Their equipment varies from one another, but the greatest equipment they have is, is the standard of the Commonwealth's mages, the bike-looking thingy.

As soon as Felix saw the mages flying towards them, he smiled.

"Alright, send the MVP."

All the paladins of Felix's army were immediately loaded with the MVP or the Magier-Vernichten Projektil (Mage Annihilation Projectile).

After loading, they immediately send it towards the direction of the mages.

Of course, the mages saw this, but paid it no heed…. They ignored it and eventually, the MVP came closer towards the mages… It activated and then… in an instant… The 5 projectiles annihilated the whole 150 or so English mages.

The commander was shocked, flabbergasted… In an instant, whole mage squads of his were instantly turned into mincemeat….

After a while, still looking at the continually approaching tanks, he immediately ordered his officer to contact the artillery team to give them the coordinates to fire their shells on.

"T-T-This is Alpha 1-3, requesting fire support. Over."

"Alpha 1-3, this is Artillery 6-1, send your request. Over."

"Adjust fire, grid coordinates 1250 3704. Enemy tanks advancing on open terrain. Request HE rounds. Over."

"Grid coordinates 1250 3704, HE rounds, shot. Over."

"Roger. Ready to observe, over."

"Splash, over."

After 5 seconds, there was an explosion within the trenches near the commander's position.

*BOOM*

"W-What the fuck is that?!"

"Sir! It looks like the enemy has started to fire on our position!"

*BOOM* *BOOM*

The officer then looked towards the still advancing German tanks.

He thought that after 5 seconds of saying splash, the artillery would hit the target… Instead, the tanks are still decreasing the distance between them…

The officer then immediately contacted the artillery.

"This is Alpha-1! Where is the fucking fire support that we were promised to?!"

"But, we had already sent it."

"Sent?! Those damn fucking german tanks are still rolling towards us! What the fuck is this sent that you had said!"

"Yes, we sent it to your location."

"Wait- what?!"

"Yes…, you should've been careful of your behind."

*BOOM*

Numerous explosions are still continuing on.

*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*

The Commander was shocked again.

"No… No… this can't be happening…"

The officer punched the commander's face.

This prompted a shocked face again to be plastered on the Commander's face.

"W-what?"

"Get yourself together Commander. Sound the retreat signal, now."

"B-b-but… the enemies are everywhere…"

They both looked behind them, they could hear numerous tanks also driving towards them…

This other army coming from behind them is an army that was originally sent to the southern route of Australis.

When the English Australis army changed their location to Ballarat, they had already determined that the southern route was never intended to be used by the Germans, so they moved their main army towards Ballarat, in order to build a formidable trench and defenses.

Little did they know, this is where Felix wanted them to be.

You see, even before the war started, Ballarat had already been compromised. All the important people that the Englishmen meet are Germans. Mayor? Disguised German. Bakery owner? German. Police Chief? German. The Artillery Commander? German. You name it, they are German.

That's why the secret infiltration of the tanks and the 2nd German army was much easier, since the citizens themselves had already jumped ships.

So…it was truly a well planned plan, in order to bring down the main army of the Englishmen. The main problem remaining would be the remaining guards within the cities…

That's why they say…. Those with better preparations… had already won half the war…

Going back, the officer grabbed the collar of his commander again and shouted.

"Order the retreat, Commander. It doesn't matter where our people go, but… they must retreat… Our people must survive."

The commander gathered his thoughts for a bit, and replied.

"Alright, give me the device to sound the air horn of retreat."

The Officer then grabbed the device nearby. It was a remote controlled device, with one red button as its interface.

The officer handed it over to the commander.

The commander grabbed it and looked at it for a few more moments.

"Our people… they must survive… for if there are people, there would still be a nation to remain… unified.. or not."

The commander immediately pressed the button.

*BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*

A resounding air horn was blasted throughout the trenches.

The soldiers immediately knew what these were, so they scattered in all directions in search of salvation.

Those who went to the back of the trenches, were annihilated by the oncoming flanking tanks.

Those who went to the front, were obliterated, save for those who waved a white flag.

Those who went to the sides were safe for a moment, before they were chased and wiped out by the tanks.

There was nothing to be left, and nothing was seen by the commander and the officer.

They observed it all, until an infantry man blasted through the door, pointing their new AVH guns towards the commander and the officer, prompting them to put their hands up, to which they complied.

A few silent seconds passed by, before a person came in, this person had black hair and the color crimson for his eyes. They knew who he was….

The prince, Felix, came towards them, grabbed a chair, and sat down in front of the two people.

Felix smiled and was silent for a few moments whilst observing the two, which creeped out the two.

After a few moments, Felix spoked.

"Ah! I had forgotten my manners. Let me first introduce myself, I am Felix von Hohenzollern…., the nightmare of all Englishmen."

Day 3 of the Unification War.

8:00 in the morning.

Felix opted to rest his army before proceeding to Melbourne.

He knew that three back-to-back fights were a bit taxing. So he opted for the day, as a day of rest.

Felix, himself, was staring at the radio, waiting for news about his Division's exploits in Puckapunyal….

___________________

Early morning of Day 3….

It was still dark and foggy.

The military officers in Puckapunyal were on high alert. Previously, they had received news that Ballarat had already been occupied. This means that either them, or Melbourne is now up next.

There are constant patrols all around the military installation. Numerous people are still awake early in the morning, as if they are nervous or it is just a routine for them…

Now, you might be wondering, how the hell would the paratroopers know where to land, if the surroundings are currently marred with fog. Well… it's because there was an explosion.

Yes, an explosion.

Explosions rocked the landscape, briefly clearing patches of the fog. These were the handiwork of the Ghosts, elite saboteurs who had infiltrated the area during the night. Their task was to disable as many anti-air installations as possible and provide intel for the coming assault.

While they couldn't destroy all the installations due to time and the need for secrecy, the blasts served a dual purpose: disabling critical defenses and lighting the way for the paratroopers high above.

In line with the start of the paratroopers' drop, the land trembled due to tanks and mechanized infantry coming in from the East.

Ghost snipers, hidden among the hills and ruined buildings, fired into the fray, targeting enemy mages and officers to thin their ranks. Each well-placed shot took down key leaders, sowing confusion among the defenders.

While the paratroopers continued to drop, they were surprised to receive numerous fires resulting in multiple, but not significant, casualties.

The leading squad leader, Tobias, the future vice-commander of the Division, immediately told the paratroopers to evade.

"SHIT! MAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS NOW!"

And so they did.

Most of the paratroopers pulled on the risers to collapse part of the chute, and as well as steering their parachutes left and right. Although it is a bit risky, it gives the paratroopers ample amount of hope to evade the incoming bullets.

A few seconds later, to counter the incoming bullets, mages from the 908th and 909th companies fired explosive spells into the direction of the bullets where they were coming from.

In an instant, a resounding boom was heard, and the explosion temporarily lifted up the fog, giving the parachuters time to breathe and land, and Tanya and her co. to look at the identification of the enemies.

These were the Shadows, dressed in white robes that made them nearly invisible in the fog. But now, with the explosions illuminating the area, Tanya could see them clearly.

"Looks like Felix is right. These white bastards will attack the installation."

Carl, the person beside her, also agreed.

"Yes, his highness definitely saw this one coming."

Carl then looked at Tanya.

"What do you want to do, Company leader?"

Tanya still looked at the white garbed mages, to which they called themselves Shadows.

"Well, what else can we do? Let's just annihilate them."

The air crackled with raw energy as both sides unleashed a devastating barrage of magic. Explosive spells ignited the fog-laden sky, their violent flashes briefly illuminating the battlefield below. Magic spells and bullets tore through the mist, creating brief streaks of light before dissipating into the darkness.

The Shadows responded quickly, conjuring shimmering shields of concentrated mana to deflect the incoming spells and bullets. But Tanya's company had the upper hand. They moved like a well-oiled machine, their formations tight and fluid, each mage working in perfect sync to rain destruction on the enemy.

Tanya's voice cut through the chaos, sharp and commanding.

"Focus fire!"

She aims her gun towards the center of the enemy, and gathers a large amount of mana filled with lethal intent.

After gathering an ample amount of mana, she pressed the trigger of her gun, sending a ball of lethal spell towards the center of the enemy's formation.

The explosion that followed was deafening. The spell detonated just above the Shadows' formation, creating a brilliant flash that momentarily turned night into day. The intense light disoriented the enemy mages, their shields flickering under the shockwave as they faltered.

Tanya's team seized the opportunity without hesitation.

"Break through!"

Tanya shouted to his company.

You see, Tanya's squad, formerly known as the 203rd mages, specializes in close combat dogfighting in the air, and that's what they did.

Her mages surged forward in coordinated attack formations, but they were no ordinary battlemages. As part of Tanya's renowned Salamander unit, they specialized in brutal, close-quarters dogfighting.

While other mage units might focus on long-range bombardment or strategic support, the Salamanders thrived in the chaos of direct engagement. They darted through the fog, weaving between enemy lines like predators, engaging at dangerously close range where each spell and strike became intensely personal.

As they closed in, rapid bursts of magic erupted from their hands, not from a safe distance, but up close, where shields struggled to deflect the sheer force of near point-blank attacks. Their spells, honed to lethal precision, ripped through the Shadows' defenses in swift, deadly strikes.

The Shadows, still disoriented from the earlier assault, were expecting a distant, drawn-out exchange of spells typical of most mage combat. But the Salamanders were different. They fought right in the enemy's face, delivering devastating blows with vicious speed.

Spells and bullets of pure destruction sliced through the air, cutting down enemy mages in brutal efficiency. Some of the Salamanders, closing the gap, unleashed mana-enhanced physical attacks, breaking through shields and delivering crushing blows that sent Shadows spiraling to the ground.

Tanya's forces tore through the panicking enemy ranks. Screams of pain echoed across the battlefield as the Shadows' formation crumbled under the relentless, close-quarters assault. The once-disciplined enemy unit was now scattered, overwhelmed by the ferocity of the Salamanders.

Below, the ground battle was no less ferocious. The deafening rumble of tanks shook the earth as they advanced, their cannons roaring with explosive fury. Shells blasted through enemy fortifications, tearing apart entrenched positions and scattering debris in every direction.

Mechanized infantry followed in their wake, moving with ruthless efficiency, their rifles chattering as they laid down suppressive fire on retreating soldiers. The ground shook under the weight of their advance, and the enemy forces struggled to regroup amid the relentless bombardment.

Paratroopers, having regrouped after their harrowing descent, pressed forward, flanking the outer defenses. Their boots hit the ground running, rifles blazing as they stormed the installation with grim determination. The enemy, still reeling from the air assault, was caught off guard. The paratroopers moved swiftly, their training showing in the way they cleared bunkers and overwhelmed defensive positions with coordinated strikes.

Overhead, the Ghosts, masters of stealth and precision, continued their deadly work. Hidden among the trees and ruins, they zeroed in on key targets with sniper rifles charged with magical enhancements. Each shot was deliberate, precise.

As the ground forces pushed deeper into the base, the coordination between Tanya's mages and the mechanized infantry became seamless. The mages provided aerial cover, picking off any stragglers or threats from above, while the tanks and infantry crushed what remained of the enemy resistance on the ground.

The battlefield was a symphony of destruction, magic and machines working in tandem to dismantle the enemy piece by piece.

Tanya overlooked all of this, beside her was Carl.

She was thinking of the white-clad bastards who joined the fight midway.

"Since the white bastards are here…. Surely, there must be something or someone controlling all of this behind…"

Hearing this, Tanya and Carl looked around with their mana enhanced eyes. They opted to find any significant mana signatures in the surroundings… and eventually they did find someone fleeing.

Carl, who also noticed the fleeing individual, asked Tanya if they would proceed to follow it.

"Company leader, do we…?"

"No, not now. There would be a time where we would face each other again… The next time we meet, the result will always be the same…"

"Understood, Company leader."

Tanya then looked back towards the subsiding battlefield and ordered Carl.

"Finish the battle immediately. We need to quickly consolidate the facility. We need to prepare for Felix's arrival here."

"I understand."

Carl immediately flew down below to quickly finish the attack.

Tanya remained high above, looking at the direction where the enemy had fled.

Day 4.

Once the supply depot had been set up in Ballarat, Felix continued his advance towards Melbourne, organizing his forces with meticulous care to ensure a swift and decisive strike. With proper logistical support secured and his troops resupplied, Felix advanced his army.

Once they reached the outskirts of Melbourne, they encircled Melbourne and built a siege camp around the city.

By the sea, his naval forces are blockading the sea just below Melbourne. This is to ensure that no one could retreat from Melbourne and to prevent any incoming reinforcements from Tasmania.

Once the proper encirclement had been made, he opted to split his army, half of which would remain encircling Melbourne, and the other half would go towards Puckapunyal, towards his division's facility.

He opted for this because he knew that the enemies inside the city of Melbourne are weak. With no possible reinforcements and path of retreat, he knew that the city of Melbourne would succumb in a matter of days.

He had also left Zettour to help the army generals and to ground their egos. Felix knew that this series of victories would go into the heads of the army's generals, so he sent Zettour to lower their ego.

By the end of the day, Felix had sent half of his army towards Puckapunyal.

Day 5.

Felix had arrived at Puckapunyal early in the morning.

Felix reunited with his division and the rest of his splitted army.

2 days of rest were opted for them to prepare for a decisive attack.

This attack would definitely cripple the Englishmen's army, since the attack that they would be doing is an attack against Canberra… the capital territory of Australis…
