Lucifer was sleeping on a large round sun lounger on a rooftop of the manor. The darkening sky filled with glittering stars above him as the light faded over the landscape beyond. He lay on his back naked, with his head on a pillow, while a thin sheet covered him to his waist and left his torso bare.
Suddenly, he stirred and half-opened his eyes when he felt a soft hand on his face.
The soft hand caressed his face with tenderness, brushing across his forehead and down his cheek. The touch was gentle and warm, and it brought him pleasure to feel it. After a few moments, he moved to his side to look at the person who touched him.
It was Jane, the head maid, sitting next to him. She was smiling down at him. Her slender face was illuminated by the waning light of the sun that set behind her, creating a halo of gold around her body.
