Chapter 13 - Becoming hunter to prey.

Liam saw Harry and the others slightly tilt their heads, indicating they had no idea what an original weapon was.

"Normally, weapons have nearly the same power as their level. For example, if a weapon is at Foundation Building level 9, its power will be almost the same level.

But for low-level weapons, they don't provide any measurable power. That's why people infuse these weapons with abilities instead of using original weapons.

At the Foundation Building realm, magical beasts and weapons don't have that much of a power difference.

However, at the Elemental Master level or higher, weapons and beasts are divided by the same levels as humans.

That's why you see many advanced weapons here labeled by their level instead of just as advanced-level weapons."

Harry understood what Liam was saying, but he didn't understand why his system also divided beasts into basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Based on what he saw when inspecting different weapons, he concluded that the system was based on the information available in the domain, functioning as Liam mentioned.

Now he was curious about how the system would distribute experience points at every level.

After some time, they returned to their room after buying the weapons they wanted.

Harry bought an intermediate longsword that didn't have any skills, but when he wielded it, he could feel power surging through his body, unlike with his previous ones.

Unsurprisingly, Meru also chose a sword because no one had taught them how to use different weapons, so it was better for her to choose a familiar weapon.

The only difference was that now she had intermediate-level power in her hands.

The same could be said about Tyler, who also chose daggers.

With that, they were now ready to kill an advanced-level beast. But for that, they had to wait for two more days.

"Tomorrow, I won't be able to guide you. I have to make preparations for the competition and talk to the elders about rules and many other things," Liam said, leaving the three in the room.

The others also had an idea of what they had to do at that time, so they booked a training room available in the same building.

For the next two days, they familiarized themselves with their new weapons.

Today was the day they were waiting for Liam to come.

"When will he come? It's almost afternoon," Meru complained.

At that moment, Liam entered the room. "Are you ready?"

Everyone nodded and followed Liam to the Mist Forest.

As they approached, they could see Blake and his friends waiting there. All the elders were also present, and they were all at Foundation Building level 9.

"Let me explain the rules," one of the elders said. "Both teams will enter at the same time. Whoever kills an advanced beast first will win, but you have to land the final blow."

'That means there is a chance that the opposite team could snatch our kill,' Harry whispered. He noticed that Blake and one of his friends were at level 6, while the other two were at level 5.

Both teams headed directly into the forest and separated in opposite directions.

"Can you see this red mist? The deeper you go, the denser it becomes.

On the outer side, the mist is faint, but the deeper you go, the higher the chance that you will die," Liam said.

"Why are you scaring us?" Tyler said, shaking his head.

They passed through many trees and encountered many basic and intermediate-level beasts, but they hadn't found any advanced beasts yet.

Harry killed another intermediate beast with his longsword.

Suddenly, they heard a huge roar, and in the next moment, Harry saw blood dripping from his arms. When he turned, he saw a large lion.

It was almost 12 meters tall and 8 meters long, with three tails moving back and forth. Harry had just finished admiring the beast's beauty when he heard Liam's warning.

"Run! It's a level 9 beast! We can't handle it!" Liam screamed.

Harry had no time to use his inspect skill on the beast, so he jumped as hard as he could when he saw sharp claws coming toward him, barely surviving the attack.

"Harry, we have to just buy some time. The elders will soon be here.

They used a special technique to know which team killed an advanced beast first, but when they sense the level 9 beast's power, they will come as soon as possible," Liam said.

"No, it's too powerful. Meru and Tyler won't be able to dodge its attacks. I will try to lead it deeper into the forest.

When the elders arrive, send them to help me," Harry said and swung his sword with full power at the beast's leg.

In the next second, with a loud roar, the beast flipped its tail, and Harry was sent flying. He crashed into a tree, meters away, blood coming out of his mouth.

Before he could understand what had happened, he saw the beast moving toward the others. Although Harry was injured, it wasn't enough to stop him from fighting.

He was at level 7, but he couldn't imagine Meru and Tyler taking a hit from this menacing beast.

He noticed that the beast had a cut on its leg from the previous attack, but it wasn't enough to stop it from attacking them.

Harry started running toward the beast while it was charging toward the others.

'What...? This white line again. It's the same as when I was about to die last time, but I couldn't understand it then.

Now it seems like it's telling me the best way to attack,' Tyler thought.

He tightened his grip and was ready to follow this white ray and attack the eyes, but then suddenly a sword came against the claws heading toward Tyler.

It was Liam's new advanced-level sword, but even it couldn't withstand the power behind the attack. With a 'clack' sound, cracks could be seen throughout the sword, and Liam slid back, spitting a mouthful of blood.

The sword absorbed most of the force from the attack, but the power gap was too much to avoid injuries.

Harry slid and attacked the same leg again, then immediately started running deeper into the forest.

The lion grumbled in pain and turned to see the culprit who had attacked it from behind, but it only saw a person far away, running deeper into the forest.

As Harry had guessed, the beast ignored the others and started following him.

He could see the big lion closing the distance little by little.

He was relieved that this beast relied mostly on strength, so it took time to close in, especially after the injury he had inflicted. After getting a considerable distance from his friends, his heart eased, knowing at least they would be safe.

But now he had to find a way out. He couldn't keep running; his stamina was running out. After running for another minute, he saw the beast just behind him. He had no way to survive if he kept running straight.

Then he saw a tree in front of him. When he was about to hit the tree, he took a sharp 90-degree turn and started running in another direction.

The beast crashed into the tree, blood dripping from its head, but it wasn't enough to stop it.

When Harry saw the result of his little trick, he was more than happy, but he knew he couldn't kill the beast just by crashing it into trees. What options did he have? So he continued his running marathon.

Whenever the beast was about to reach him, he used the same trick again and again. But now he was about to pass out.

He had been running continuously for two hours, had no idea where he was going, and his injuries were getting worse.
