Chereads / Death Bringer: Eyes of Death / Chapter 17 - Outside the Forest

Chapter 17 - Outside the Forest

Just like that, without the existence of Warmongers. Neru found the alternative exit of the forest smoothly.

What greeted Neru was a constructed road. But there were no people or vehicles that could be seen so he knew that he would need to walk.

The fresh breeze in the air and the warmth of the sun made Neru energetic. "Here am I, cultivation world! Hahahaa!"

Neru walked, and walked, non-stop for two hours. He passed a lot of rivers, mountains, and gradually saw caravans of merchants in the distance.

He also encountered a lot of animals on the way that were not different from Earth.

'Finally, I can hitchhike for a ride. I hope they would let me hop in for free because I don't have money. What's even the currency of this world?'

While walking, Neru couldn't help but remember the harsh requirements to cultivate and get started on the Godzilla Body Cultivation Method.

He needs an environment rich in nuclear radiation and absorb them. Where would he even find such a place? Won't he get cancer if he absorbs nuclear radiation? The risk was just too great even though the method offers some protection mechanisms against nuclear radiation.

It was inconceivable, in the near foreseeable future. Neru would literally become a walking nuclear bomb or a walking human-sized Godzilla! No matter where he went would cause destruction and loss of life.

'With my eyes of death plus this terrible body method. My future is looking bright. Maybe those cultivators of the golden core would have to make way for me. Though I don't know how strong I should be to surpass Sylvian.'

For now, Neru set Sylvian as his benchmark to surpass. He knew that the long was road and perilous. Sylvian should be someone standing at the peak or a power ceiling of a certain place. After all, how could someone who possessed a heaven defying technique like "Godzilla Cultivation Method" be simple?

To surpass Sylvian, it was his first goal! It might sound ambitious but it is what it is. Although he haven't proven anything yet. He's a transmigrator! Fated to do big things!

With his eyes of death, he could even kill Sylvian regardless of gap in strength as long as he could hit his end point. Of course, it would rely mainly on sneak attack.

It's not that bad to dream isn't it? It is considered arrogant or complacent to be ambitious? Most of the time, ambition is what drives progress as long as one doesn't let obsession consume oneself.

A few moments later, a caravan spotted Neru walking alone without anything with him.

"Hey look. There's a pitiful kid on the road. He doesn't seem to know the way. Let's give him a ride to the city..." The driver let out a smoke out of his mouth and threw thr cigarette on the side. "It would be too bad if those damned bastards kidnaps such a young kid."

"They would do anything to sell pairs of his kidney."

On the back, a man in a green jacket with a bald head and mole on his right temple smiled. "Well, kidneys has sky-high price in the black market. I'm even quite tempted to sell one of mine to buy a higher grade cultivation method." He let out a soft chuckle.

Beside him there was a guy wearing a standard suite with plain blue tie and white shirt inside. He has a blue-rimmed sun glasses coupled with gold cross-shaped piercing. For the lower body, he was wearing black shoes and black pants. He's Zaude, the rich merchant of Cross Country.

Zaude cleared his throat. "Well, it doesn't matter. There's still quite some space inside. Just make sure that kid ain't a thief or something, okay?" He smiled at the man donned in a green jacket.

The man in a green jacket gave Zaude a look of fanaticism and said. "As expected of boss. You're really magnimous person. Only a merchant like you who has such a kind heart and has genuine concern to people is qualified to be the richest person!"

"Enough for the flattery. Although I don't like compliments that much. I'm still glad they emerged." Zaude had a faint smile on his face. "All I'm doing is for the peace of our country. For people to thrive. To achieve eternal peace, I'll do whatever it takes! So Beluer, you also have to work harder and help me achieve peace! I can't do it alone. I need capable hands to help me."

Beluer patted his chest with solemn expression. The green color of his jacket became deeper. "Everything is for the peace of Cross Country!

Don't worry my lord. I will always stay by your side even if I die!" He declared with resolute tone.'

Hearing this, Zaude nodded with a satisfied expression. "That's good..."

Outside, the driver stopped the carriage beside Neru and offered:

"Brat, why are you alone in this road? Don't you fucking know how dangerous it is here to walk alone? Haven't you heard of bandits that sells organs of their victims?"

"Uhhmmm... I'm alone because I don't have friends and family. Actually, I grew up in the forest and I don't remember anything at all. I don't even know my name..." Neru lied through his teeth.

He smirked inwardly.

'If I pretend to have loss my memory. It would save me some trouble of explaining my identity or origin. I don't have prepared anwers for questioning of people so it would be good to eliminate such a need early.'

It was a counter-measure Neru thought to prevent others from probing his identity.

The driver of the carriage smiled. "Brat, I don't care about your identity. My lord Zaude is a kind gentleman. It's your luck today. Come inside the carriage!"

Neru pretended to look warily at the driver of the carriage at this moment.

"?"

Seeing Neru's suspicious look. The driver scratched his head and asked awkwardly. "Why are you looking at me like that brat?"

"Well, I don't mean to be offensive. But... how would I know if you guys aren't the robbers in your mouth? How would I know if this isn't one of your methods to kidnap helpless kids like me??"

Neru knew that it would be suspicious to not raise any concerns at all and just accept the free ride directly. In a way, these questions would not give them doubt. It doesn't seem to be necessary to do this but Neru knew it was better to be foolproof.

At this time, the driver was speechless. Neru's questions were indeed reasonable.
