Chapter 1 - New World and Strange Pets

Strange.

That was the first thing Sarah thought as she stared out into the unknown forest before her.

She'd only been awake for about an hour, finding herself in a place vastly different from the one she was in prior to this. All she could remember was trying to save a child during a bank robbery. The rest was a blur, but she recalled a sudden pain before everything faded to black.

Not only did she not find any wounds or blood, but found herself in a completely different body as well. The only remnent of her old self was her slick, shoulder length auburn hair.

As she looked down at herself, she noticed paler flesh, a taller body, smaller chest and a a smaller waist. She guessed she was about a B-cup now given how small they felt in her hands. It was rather disappointing honestly. She was proud of her curvy body she once had, as well as the muscles developed during her weekly workouts.

What she did like was that she was much taller, standing at almost 6 feet compared to her 5 foot 4 inch self of the past. It wasn't so much of a difference, so she found it easy to adjust after a few steps and some quick hops on her new boots.

Tugging at the clothes she wore, they seemed to be made of cotton, fitting comfortably on her body, as if they were made for her specifically.

As for the reason she wasn't freaking out, well it was rather simple. She was so excited that she could barely contain herself as she looked around the forest around her.

She'd read Manga and Novels of reincarnation so often that she immediately understood what was happening to her. Maybe it was because it was her biggest wish, maybe it was because of her good deeds, but she'd gotten what she'd always wanted.

Reincarnation.

Suddenly, her eyes widened as she remembered a crucial thing all reincarnators got. Out of all of the insane abilities they could recieve, this was so crucial and fantasy-like that it was a must for all of them to have. Holding her hand up, she smirked and spoke out for the first time since arriving.

"System."

...

She felt like crying as nothing appeared. No blue window, no words reaching her head to tell her. Nothing. Not a damn thing appeared.

She brought her hand up to chew on her thumbnail, a habit she formed through her years as an office worker. She then began to pace around as she thought back to her novels and manga.

"C'mon, there's gotta be something else. Maybe this world doesn't have a System? How am I supposed to see my Status?"

As she finished speaking, a violet window appeared infront of her eyes, making her jump back and hold her arm up.

...

"Wait, for real? This world has this?" Sarah squealed as she jumped in celebration.

It took her several minutes to finally settle down before she looked over her status and abilities.

"Let's see here. True to my occupations, it seems I have the basics for an all-rounder. Sweet, I can finally start my life-long dream of trying my hand at this stuff." She giggled to herself as she thought back to her years of struggling to even find time to make simple things out of wood or scrap.

Due to her demanding job in her previous life, she had almost no time to herself. All work an no play was how she was forced to live in the past. Now though, it seemed she could finally settle down and follow her dreams.

It was then that she saw the Basic Summoning spell and available Summon Slots. Normally one would be forced to start with one, having two was a huge advantage given how most of the works she read would go.

Though, considering where she woke up, she figured there was no Demon King or war she would be forced to join. This made her feel much better about her situation. If she were to suddenly join a war for a world she knew nothing of, she doubt she would live a long life. Not even just in the war, she was never good at politics no matter how she tried to learn about them.

Holding her chin, she suddenly thought about her situation currently. Alone in a forest, no food or water source, not even a sign of civilization in any direction.

It was only then that she realized how screwed she was as she spun around and searched for anything of use.

"Shit, this isn't good. I read that nightfall is the worst times in forests of other worlds." She muttered as she looked over her skills again for something that could help.

Of course, none of the crafting skills will ever be useful right now since she had no tools. She could only rely on her Summoning skill. It was based on luck and the element you were most favored by in all of them, but sometimes the protagonists would get a cheat-like creature to form a contract with in these types of scenarios.

Going with her instincts, she held her hand up and closed her eyes. As she thought of the Summoning spell, she found foreign words popping up in her head, showing her how the spell would work and how to manipulate her Mana.

"In the name of Sarah O'Roark, I call to the Spirit Realm. I ask for any wishing leave their home. To walk by my side and call me their master." As if possessed by something else, these words left her lips and made her cringe a bit.

As she opened her eyes, she saw a magic circle on the ground a meter away from where she pointed her palm at. Various colored lights gathered and formed a door infront of her. The door itself looked fantasy like, covered in a mystical engraving that made her think of those fancy doors she saw in documentaries on craftsmanship.

After a few moments, the door opened and showed her a pitch-black void on the other side. Both enticing, yet dangerous looking. Something in the back of her head warned her to never step through this door, making her body freeze in place.

She felt something leave her body, like a piece of her was sucked out and forced into the void as it was opened. The feeling stopped as a small creature stepped through the void and sat down on the ground before her.

Adorable.

That was the first thing she thought as the wolf-like cub stared up at her.
