It became a race for time and Sarah had gotten the head start over him. She ran past him while he was standing still in shock trying to comprehend everything that was happening. He was about to enquire about her 'new temporary position' and also about her entire employment at Sampson and Bratt Cooperation as a whole. He quickly remembered that Carla had an entire website online where she worked continually. Does this mean that Sarah was never employed at Sampson and Bratt or was this being used as an additional side income? Was this truly what she did for work all day? The questions flooded his mind but by the time he brought his thoughts back to reality, Sarah was gone.
"THAT WHORE!"
He yelled while pacing up and down the doorway. By this time, it was clear to everyone that something was going wrong in room no. nine not only because he was speaking at the top of his voice but more precisely because Sarah went running out of the hotel without changing or covering herself over.
"SARAH, SARAH WAIT!"
Jase collected both their items as he left the room chasing behind his wife, looking confused and completely bewildered. Unfortunately for him, the hotel staff had called the police after seeing Sarah running out of the lobby crying uncontrollably and dressed in inappropriate street attire. Because Jase's name was used to book the hotel room, he was the person the officers waited on to question concerning the incident. Also, Sarah had already driven off by the time they arrived. The two male officers stopped Jase as he came down the stairs and explained to him why they were there. His face became red with embarrassment, but he tried to cover his emotions by acting as if everything was alright. After all, the lady running away frantic from the hotel in lingerie and six-inch heels was genuinely his wife.
"I can reassure you that everything is okay officers. She's my wife and we are here celebrating a 'new temporary promotion' that she received at work recently. We got into an argument about the extra duties that she was expected to perform in this new position, and she got upset and ran out."
The officers looked at each other a bit puzzled not knowing if they should believe him or not. The story wasn't sounding too far-fetched but at the same time they had to get both sides of it to be sure.
"We'll need to speak with Carla to decide if this story is entirely the truth and also to ensure that she is okay but answer me this Mr. Abraham, why did she need to run out in her bedroom wear if she wasn't in any danger, doesn't that seem a bit odd?"
The question that he was trying to avoid was finally asked. He didn't want to answer it and he also didn't want to spend any more time at the hotel. He had to get home to confront Sarah. He had so many unanswered questions. Who, how many and why. Though he cannot dispute that he was also in the wrong as well, they both had a lot of explaining to do and he wanted to get answers to all of his questions as soon as possible.
"Would you like to follow me to our home? She should be close to there by now and you can chat with the two of us at the same time."
The officers were pleased with this offer and agreed. Jase realized that he was way behind Sarah at this point. Not only did he have to wait to clarify things with the officers but now that they are tailing him home, he couldn't break the law and drive at a higher speed than legally required.
"AHHHHH GOD DAMN IT!!!"
Jase expressed in frustration. He was annoyed and was becoming extremely more and more upset with every second that was passing. Finally, they arrived at their home in Stortford and just as he had suspected, Sarah's car was not in the driveway nor was there any sign of life inside of the house. The entire home was in darkness. Either she had already came, collected her things and left or she was never there. Before he got out of the car, he switched his phone on and tried calling her. He knew that most likely she wouldn't answer but he was desperate for her to speak to the officers so that they could leave.
"ring ring ring...voicemail"
Just what he knew would have happened. She wasn't responding. The officers walked up to his car, and he explained that Sarah's car was not there, and neither was her nor their daughter. The officers became suspicious, and this was clear to him by the expressions on their faces and by their heavy sighing.
"Mr. Abaraham please turn your vehicle off and step out. We would like to continue questioning you at the station."
As Jace started to comply he thought to himself,
"This could never be happening."
He sighed and did what the officers instructed of him. Suddenly his phone rang. It was Sarah returning his call. He handed the phone directly to the officers and they immediately answered and spoke to her. Clearly satisfied with what they were told, they apologized to Jase for the hassle, returned his phone with Sarah still on the line and left. Jase stood outside his car watching the screen of his phone for a bit while he gained courage to start speaking to Sarah.
"Sarah, where are you? We need to speak about what happened tonight. I need to know everything. How many men have you done this with and are you even a Sales Exec?"
He stopped speaking hoping for a response from her and he waited for around one minute for it until she replied.
"I should be asking you the same questions. I don't want to speak about this. I am not answering any of your questions. After all, you are paying hefty amounts for mistresses yourself. You aren't innocent in this either!"
She was right. Jase was being hypocritical. It was clear that Sarah was crying. Her voice was shaking, and she sounded congested.
"So, what are we going to do about this, we cannot move on as if nothing is wrong with what occurred tonight."
He was also right but she hung up the phone before any further discussion about the incident could have taken place.
With waves of frustration, he walked into their home and without turning any of the lights on, he went into their bedroom and went straight to bed.
Two weeks after their dilemma, Jase walked into the conference room with his lawyer to meet with Sarah and hers who were already seated. It was the first day of negotiations for their divorce. After that night, Jase refused to look the other way concerning what had happened. He declined therapy, church counseling and apologies. His entire perspective of Sarah changed. He thought of her as being a promiscuous girl and used up. An overall vile person and that was too much for him to accept. The thought of her possibly being with multiple men drove him crazy. She refused to answer any of his questions before he answered them himself which he did not. He knew very well that he had covered his tracks perfectly and she would never be able to find any proof of his past mistresses. As same with Sarah, it would have also been almost impossible to catch her in any acts of unfaithfulness as she went by an alias online and never showed her face in any of her videos or pictures. They were two sides of the same coin.
The negotiations were going smoothly. They agreed to split everything down the middle even all the expenses for taking care of eight-month-old Ella. Everything was almost completed without argument until Sarah's lawyer mentioned alimony payments. Jase hollered laughing at the idea. He couldn't imagine paying Sarah for sex much less now to give her money for free. His lawyer mirrored his laughter and with a clear firm voice he said,
"No."
Jase had already had the discussion concerning alimony with his lawyer prior to the session and he was very adamant that it was something that he did not want to agree to. Sarah whispered something to her lawyer, and he whispered back. After a few seconds he spoke again.
"My client would like to remind Mr. Abraham that embezzling money from Finance Inc. International would be considered a crime by law. This is by no means a threat, just a simple reminder."
That statement wiped the smile completely off of Jase's face and turned his expression stone cold. His lawyer whispered to him, and he responded softly under his voice as well. His lawyer then responded.
"We are also completely certain that falsifying documents from Sampson and Bratt Cooperation to cover fake employment at their establishment would also be considered fraud and forgery by law."
It seemed that both Sarah and Jase came to the session very prepared to throw each other under the bus if they needed to do so to have their way. They didn't have any proof of unfaithfulness against each other besides the night that they both met and that would have implicated them both of wrongdoing so neither of them saw it wise to try to use it as evidence. As Jase watched Sarah with a smirk on his face, assuming that he had won and didn't have to pay her any alimony, her eyes pierced him with a look as sharp as a sword. She took the opportunity to speak to him directly instead of through her lawyer.
"I am willing to also inform authorities that the CFO of your company was also involved in the embezzlement and so you both can go be best friends in jail."
Pleased with herself, she sat back and got a smirk on her face that matched his. As to prevent an entire investigation on the CFO, Jase agreed to pay Sarah alimony even though he was fuming by the decision. On his way back, Jase decided to find a way out of paying Sarah alimony. He was staying at a hotel and allowed Sarah and Ella to remain in the family home. He thought that she was doing well enough selling herself online. Why should he now have to pay her to be promiscuous with absolutely nothing in return? This seemed unfair to him.
He then came up with an idea that made him quite proud of himself. If Sarah is in prison, he won't have to pay her alimony. He decided to contact Sampson and Bratt Cooperation and to schedule a meeting with them. He printed and carried in the fake letter Sarah sent him via email that claimed that she had received a three-month temporary promotion from them. The letter was quite well done with the company's real logo and letterhead included on it. Sarah had sent him the letter the same night she accepted the offer. He identified himself under a false name and wore a cap to help disguise himself from the cameras. Jase was sure that this would work. One week later he got a call from Sarah's mom informing him that she had been arrested, and he had to pick up Ella from her later on, as she was babysitting. Jase was exuberant over the news.
He couldn't have imagined feeling any better. Not only would he not have to pay her alimony but also, he would get to have sole custody of Ella once she was found guilty. Jase was in his glee. He arrived at work and walked into his office, almost skipping, only to find three unexpected visitors standing by his desk. There were three police officers in his office, one already had his handcuffs being held in his hand. He closed his eyes in dismay as he realized that Sarah had played an uno reverse card on him. After all, who else would have reported her to Sampson and Bratt if not him? As one officer explained what they would be doing and the other read his rights, he was placed in handcuffs.
"Jase Abraham you are being arrested pending an investigation into claims of embezzlement at Finance Inc. International. You have the right to retain your silence, you have the right to free counsel if you cannot afford one at this time and you can request the presence of such counsel before we proceed if you need to."
