Alexander got to the horse that was closest to him, and quickly mounted it, kicking the horse into gear, galloping away with a sense of urgency.
William, whose horse Alexander had commandeered, saw this and then ran to the horse belonging to his companion, leapt onto it, and took off in hot pursuit of Alexander, while the others could only stand there, sighing in disappointment and frustration. Edward was the most visibly upset, as evidence of how red his face was from anger and indignation.
Alexander rode the horse into the Black Forest, and wasn't heading in any particular direction, taking any turn he saw, as William chased after him from behind, determined to catch up.
The chase continued for a long time, and Alexander was unknowingly heading towards the Rocky Mountains— the same mountains where the Oakwood temple was located, a place shrouded in mystery and legend.
