Chapter 164 - Fundraising

BR Tech Corporation

Evan was in the conference room, scratching his head in frustration as he scolded the researchers before him.

"This isn't what I asked for! If you didn't understand, why didn't you ask? What's your mouth for, just decoration?" Evan was furious.

The entire research team remained silent. It was the first time they had seen Evan so angry, and no one dared to speak.

At that moment, the door to the conference room opened, and the receptionist peeked in, sensing that something was amiss with the atmosphere inside. She hesitated, unsure if she should speak.

"What is it?" Evan turned to look at her.

The receptionist shrank back slightly. "Boss, there's a girl outside named Zuri who's looking for you."

"I'm busy," Evan replied without thinking. But as soon as he spoke, he suddenly realized something. "Wait, who did you say is looking for me?"

"A girl."

Evan immediately put down the documents in his hand and hurried out.

The employees in the conference room exchanged glances, their eyes filled with curiosity.

Evan jogged to the front desk, where he saw a girl standing quietly, holding a cloth bag. A smile appeared on his face.

"Boss."

Zuri waved at him.

The two of them walked into the company side by side. Zuri looked around curiously. The office was simply decorated, and everyone seemed very busy, all with their heads down, working intently.

It was Zuri's first time at the company and her first time meeting her employees. It was rare to see a boss who was so hands-off.

Evan kept pace with her as they walked.

"Where's your office?" Zuri asked, tilting her head.

Evan pointed to the first private office straight ahead. "That's my office."

Zuri glanced at the nameplate—General Manager.

Evan then pointed to the last office down the hall. "That's your office. I've kept it for you. Do you want to take a look?"

Zuri shook her head. "No, I'm just here to check things out. Let's go to your office."

"Sure."

The two of them entered Evan's office. Zuri sat down on the lounge chair.

An assistant brought in a cup of coffee and placed it in front of Zuri, sneaking curious glances at her.

After the assistant left, Evan brought over a thick stack of documents and placed them in front of her.

"I've been thinking about when to report on the company's progress to you. Since you're here, you can take a look. This is the company's performance for this quarter. The small project you suggested—we've invested in it during the initial phase, and it's already generating revenue. The income from this project is enough to cover the company's operational costs."

Previously, Evan had been focused on new technology, relying entirely on Zuri to scrape together funds. But that model wasn't sustainable in the long run.

So Zuri had suggested a smaller project, like a bike-sharing scheme, to be launched in Oceanic City. The cost of entry was relatively low, and the returns were quick.

Sure enough, after just three months of trial operation, the company had achieved a break-even point. There was no need to keep asking Zuri for money.

Zuri flipped through the financial report. "You've just managed to break even?"

Evan nodded excitedly. "Yes, yes! Now we won't have to keep asking you for money."

Hearing his proud tone, Zuri almost couldn't bear to dampen his spirits.

In reality, she had come today to see if she could get some funds. If she hadn't spent a billion on stocks, depleting her savings, she wouldn't have come here for money.

This company really was a money pit. All the profits she had made in the stock market had been nearly swallowed up by it.

After Evan finished speaking enthusiastically, he noticed her lack of reaction and finally realized something was wrong.

"Boss, is there a problem?"

"No problem," Zuri replied, but her tone didn't match her words.

Evan might be a bit naive, but he wasn't stupid. "You're the boss of this company. If there's a problem, you can say so. Don't worry about my feelings—I can handle it."

Seeing his earnest attitude, Zuri cleared her throat and said, "The rollout of the bike-sharing program is too slow, and the returns are too slow. You need to speed things up. Start expanding from Oceanic City and capture the market as quickly as possible."

"Wouldn't that be too risky?" Evan asked.

"The cost of entry in this industry is low. If others see the opportunity, they can easily copy it. So, we have to seize the market quickly before anyone else reacts and make the first profit."

Evan nodded, understanding. "Boss, you really have foresight. I've been holding us back."

"Keep up the good work."

Evan pressed on, "Boss, you didn't come here just for this, did you?"

Since he had seen through her, Zuri didn't bother hiding it.

"I came to see if I could get some funds."

"How much do you need? I'll have finance transfer it to you," Evan said without hesitation.

"Two billion."

"Pfft…"

Evan nearly spat out his tea, his eyes widening.

"What do you need that much money for?" Evan was stunned.

Of course, Zuri wasn't going to tell him that she was planning to buy shares in the Lin Corporation. Given the current stock price, acquiring those shares would require at least five or six billion. But she wasn't about to foolishly throw that much money at it.

She planned to spend just over a billion, so she conservatively needed to prepare two billion in funds.

"It's for something important. I'm planning to seek financing from FX Investment. How much do you think they'll invest?" Zuri asked.

Currently, RB Tech's shares were in the hands of Zuri and Evan. Zuri planned to use her shares for financing without touching Evan's.

"FX Investment has approached us twice already, which shows they value our company. We should be able to secure a good amount. I'd estimate at least a billion."

For a small company like RB Tech, getting a billion-dollar investment was already impressive.

"Contact FX Investment. I need two billion, and we can't accept less than 1.5 billion. If they're willing to invest, we'll proceed. As for how much equity they want, you handle it. The shares will be diluted from my portion—yours will remain unchanged."

Evan didn't know why she needed so much money, but seeing how urgent she was, he figured it must be for something important.

"Alright. I'll contact them right away."

Evan was a man of action.

With the tasks delegated, Zuri once again became a hands-off boss.

FX Investment

Grayson received a call from the department manager, then knocked on the boss's office door.

"Mr. Feng, RB Tech has finally agreed."

Nolan swiveled his chair to face Grayson. "They agreed?"

The other party had been reluctant before, so this sudden agreement caught him by surprise.

That girl must be short on cash!
