"One."
Leo ignored the mocking laughter from the crowd.
"Two."
Mouse Rui scoffed.
"Three."
As the third count dropped, Zuri rushed forward. She thought she was fast, but the person beside her moved even quicker.
With a loud thud, the nearest thug was kicked across the room, crashing heavily onto a table, breaking the laughter in the air.
The duo moved with incredible speed, striking with precision and force. Before Mouse Rui realized what was happening, three or four of his men were already on the ground.
"Brothers, get them!" Mouse Rui roared.
His henchmen, armed with knives and iron rods, surged forward with fierce intent.
Mouse Rui sat back, unconcerned, "Don't kill them outright. They're worth money."
As the fight wore on, the number of men standing dwindled, their groans of pain filling the warehouse. Fifteen minutes later, most of Mouse Rui's men lay sprawled on the ground, barely moving.
Mouse Rui's face turned ashen.
These two were serious threats.
The last man fell at Mouse Rui's feet, spitting blood on his shoes. As the two advanced towards him, Mouse Rui pulled out a handgun from his pocket, pointing it at them.
"Don't move, or I'll blow your brains out," he threatened, trying to regain control. "No matter how skilled you are, you can't dodge a bullet."
Just as Mouse Rui felt in control again, Leo raised his hand and made a small gesture.
Suddenly, a squad of people in black tactical gear burst into the warehouse, guns trained on Mouse Rui, including an assault rifle aimed right at his head.
Mouse Rui's legs trembled in fear.
He finally understood the true situation. The earlier fight was just a game to these people.
If he had seen this earlier, he would never have dared to challenge them.
The presence of this squad, clearly more than just a bunch of mercenaries, made Zuri wonder if they were from a special unit. But something about them felt different.
Mouse Rui's gun clattered to the floor as he dropped to his knees.
"Big brother, I've made a mistake," he pleaded, throwing away any semblance of dignity. He didn't even know what he had done wrong.
"Mistake?" Zuri sneered, picking up a knife from the floor. "Do you even know what your mistake was?"
Mouse Rui's face twitched. He truly had no clue why he was being targeted.
"Sister, you tell me what I did wrong, and I'll make it right," he groveled.
Suddenly, Zuri plunged the knife through his hand, pinning it to the ground.
Mouse Rui screamed in agony.
He tried to get up, but the cold barrel of a gun against his head stopped him.
Cold sweat drenched him as Zuri screamed, her voice full of pain and rage, "Why did you kill him?!"
"Why?!" Zuri's eyes burned red, hatred and pain mixing in her voice. "He was just a child! How could you be so cruel? Why?!"
"He had his whole life ahead of him!"
Zuri's expression grew wild, her hatred fueling her strength as she tightened her grip on Mouse Rui's throat.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her hand, pulling her back.
Zuri glared at Leo, as if accusing him of stopping her.
Leo calmly took the knife from her hand, "Don't dirty your hands with him. He's not worth it."
Mouse Rui, terrified by Zuri's crazed look, realized he might not survive even if Leo stopped her. If his wound wasn't treated, he'd bleed to death anyway.
"Beautiful lady, handsome gentleman, I really don't know what you're talking about. You must have mistaken me for someone else," Mouse Rui pleaded, bewildered.
Mistaken identity?!
Zuri's eyes blazed with renewed fury.
Clearly, Mouse Rui didn't even remember the child he had killed.
"Dock, Warehouse Number Eight," Zuri said coldly, each word cutting through the air.
Mouse Rui's body stiffened as the memory resurfaced. It was that troublesome kid.
The boy's father had sold him to Mouse Rui, making him Mouse Rui's property to discipline as he saw fit. But the boy had dared to resist him, leading to a brutal beating that accidentally killed him.
Mouse Rui had done this kind of thing before, never thinking twice about it. The boy was just another victim, one among many.
He quickly realized he was dealing with people who cared about that boy.
Trying to feign remorse, Mouse Rui begged, "I was just trying to teach him a lesson. I didn't know my men would go too far... It's all my fault. I'll make sure those responsible are punished."
Zuri's cold, hard gaze silenced him. He knew any further excuses would be futile.
Leo gestured, and two burly men lifted Mouse Rui, hanging him from the ceiling.
"What are you doing?!" Mouse Rui shouted, terrified.
The men worked quickly, suspending him in mid-air.
"I was wrong, please spare me!" Mouse Rui begged, "I wasn't the one who did it. It wasn't me!"
Leo looked down at the remaining henchmen, who were too frightened to move or speak.
A man in tactical gear brought in a box of arrows, placing it in the center of the room.
"Getting out of here is simple. You just need to make a choice," the man said to the henchmen. "Of course, you can choose not to do anything."
The men exchanged nervous glances, unsure of what to do.
"If you don't act, you'll join him in his fate," the man continued, gesturing to the suspended Mouse Rui.
The henchmen hesitated, then one by one, they rushed for the arrows, desperate to survive.
