Chapter 118 - Another Incident

A commotion erupted outside as a few nurses and doctors rushed forward, swiftly pulling a stretcher into the emergency room. With a quick glance, Isaac and the others recognized the injured person—it was Xiao Yun.

No one left; they stood waiting outside.

"The patient has injured a major artery and is losing too much blood. She needs a transfusion immediately."

"The blood type has been confirmed as Type O. The blood bank has been notified and is preparing."

As the crew's producer and others arrived, Isaac noticed more and more unrelated people gathering around, peeking curiously.

"I heard the person just brought in is a big star."

"Really?"

"Who is it?"

"There were too many people to see clearly, but I heard she's a very popular actress. Don't know who exactly."

"I saw a lot of blood. The stretcher left a trail. I wonder if she'll make it."

The surrounding chatter was incessant.

Isaac turned to Owen and said, "Reporters will be here soon. We need to leave."

The producer and director nodded in agreement.

"We'll handle things here. You guys should go."

Owen took one last look at the emergency room before nodding to the group.

Zuri followed Owen as they left.

As they reached the elevator, a nurse's urgent voice echoed down the hallway, "Is there anyone here with Type O blood? The blood bank is running low, and the patient needs it urgently."

Zuri stopped in her tracks.

"What's wrong?" Owen asked.

"I'm Type O."

Six months ago, during the Lin family's paternity test, she learned she was Type O.

Saving a life was more important. Zuri turned back, and Owen followed.

Isaac grabbed his arm, "You're not Type O. Why are you going?"

"I'm waiting for Zuri. We came together. I can't just leave her."

Owen caught up with Zuri, ignoring Isaac's frustrated outburst behind him.

"Brother, let it go," the assistant soothed, following Owen.

Isaac sighed heavily, muttering, "Femme fatale."

The crew members exchanged puzzled looks.

"I'm not Type O," Director Zhang said.

"Neither am I."

"I don't know my blood type."

"Me neither."

"I'm not sure about mine."

The nurse glanced around, but no one was Type O.

Just then, Zuri stepped forward, "I'm Type O."

The nurse's eyes lit up, motioning for Zuri and three others who were unsure of their blood type to follow, "Come with me for a blood test."

The four followed the nurse to the blood draw room.

The nurse drew a small amount of blood from each person.

"Do I need to be tested too?" Zuri asked.

The nurse nodded, "For safety, we need to be sure. If someone misremembers their blood type and it's wrong, it could be fatal for the patient."

Zuri nodded in understanding.

Though it was troublesome, it was thorough and safer for the patient.

The blood test was quick.

The nurse returned with the reports and announced to two men, "You two are Type O. You can donate."

Then she looked at Zuri and another person, "You two don't match."

Zuri was stunned, blurting out, "How can that be?"

She clearly remembered seeing Aaron as Type O and Dalia as Type B on the paternity test results. How could she not be Type O?

Could there have been a mistake? Was she actually Type B?

Parents with Type O and Type B typically have children with Type O or Type B blood, not Type A or AB.

"Nurse, I might have remembered wrong. I think I'm Type B."

The nurse was taken aback, then reminded her, "Miss, you're not Type B either. You're Type A RH negative, a rare blood type known as 'panda blood.' Remember that."

Type A RH negative!!!

Parents with Type O and Type B couldn't have a child with Type A RH negative blood unless there was a rare genetic mutation.

Zuri's mind raced, her voice trembling, "Are you sure there's no mistake?"

The nurse, seeing her reaction, offered, "If you don't believe it, I can have the doctor test you again."

Zuri collected herself and nodded, "Okay."

The nurse drew her blood again for a separate test.

Zuri waited in the room, feeling that every second was an eternity.

When the nurse returned, Zuri looked up.

The nurse handed her the report, "See for yourself."

Zuri took the report. The paper, though light as a feather, felt unbearably heavy.

The nurse, noticing her grave expression, wondered what the big deal was about a misidentified blood type.

Maybe it was the rarity of RH negative blood. Still, it didn't seem like such a big deal.

The nurse left her alone to process it.

Zuri stared at the "Type A RH negative" on the paper, feeling a sinking sensation.

"Type A RH negative," Zuri laughed bitterly, "How ridiculous."

If Aaron and Dalia's blood types were correct, she couldn't be their child.

Or she was Dalia's child from an affair?

No. Zuri felt she wasn't the result of an affair. It was more likely...

She needed to confirm Aaron and Dalia's blood types. What if they were wrong?

Zuri clenched the report, leaving the room.

Owen noticed her distressed look but assumed it was from the blood draw.

"After giving blood, you might feel weak. You should rest," Owen said considerately.

Zuri shook her head, "I have something to take care of. I have to go."

Before Owen could respond, Zuri left.

Her unusual behavior worried Owen. He quickly followed, but as the elevator doors opened, a swarm of reporters emerged. Isaac quickly pulled him to the stairwell.

By the time they reached downstairs, Zuri was already speeding off on her motorcycle.

"She seems off. I'm worried," Owen frowned.

Isaac rolled his eyes. What could happen to a young girl? The real issue was escaping the reporters before they caught Owen, the heartthrob idol, wearing a helmet in the hospital—definitely a PR nightmare.

"If you don't want to be on the front page with that helmet, you'd better hurry."

Their assistant brought the car, and Isaac hustled Owen inside.

Meanwhile, Zuri raced home. She needed answers.
