Chapter 60 - Unexpected Consequences

"Stop!" A white-collar woman shouted, "If you keep beating him, he's going to die."

Zuri glanced at the bloodied Hector and ignored the people behind her. In a low, slightly hoarse voice, she said, "If you want to seek revenge on the Lin family, you're welcome to try."

With that, she let go and casually tossed him aside.

The ease and arrogance of her actions left the onlookers trembling with fear. This seemingly delicate girl turned out to be so violent.

"You can't leave," the white-collar woman, relying on their numbers, tried to stop her.

Zuri paid her no mind and walked straight toward her. The woman panicked, and the men behind her instinctively took a step back, except for Leo, who remained still.

"What do you want to do? I'm telling you, this is a society ruled by law," she stammered.

Zuri bent down and picked up the camcorder from the ground.

Realizing their misunderstanding, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

But just as they relaxed, they saw Zuri smash the camcorder to pieces and throw it into a nearby gutter.

After that, Zuri looked up at them and said, "Keep it a secret, or else…"

She smiled and made a throat-slitting gesture, exuding menace.

Turning around, she left behind a group of stunned people.

"She's too arrogant," the district chief said angrily. "We mustn't let such a thug get away with this. Call the police and have her arrested and taught a lesson."

Leo raised his hand to stop him. "No need. I'll talk to her."

Everyone was dumbfounded.

So Leo knew the girl, no wonder she was so brazen.

Realizing the situation, the district chief quickly changed his tune, "Young people these days are quite spirited. Those guys looked like troublemakers anyway, they deserved a beating. Xiao Wang, get someone to take them away and question them. How could they bully a young girl like that?"

Everyone silently rolled their eyes.

Chief, doesn't your conscience hurt?

Soon, the local police arrived to take away the four thugs, while Hector, seriously injured, was sent straight to the hospital.

After leaving the demolition area, Zuri went to a convenience store. The clerk was shocked to see her face and clothes stained with blood.

"Are you alright?" the clerk asked, concerned.

Zuri shook her head, took a pack of wet wipes from the shelf, and slowly cleaned herself up. As she was paying, her phone rang.

"Zuri, are you okay?" Azura's anxious voice came through the phone.

"I'm fine."

Azura breathed a sigh of relief. "I saw on the campus forum that Hector and his gang were looking for someone. I was worried they were after you. Since you're okay, they must be targeting someone else."

Zuri listened quietly to her rambling, feeling a warmth in her usually cold heart.

Her concern must be genuine, right? Zuri thought to herself.

"Where are you now? Want to come out for a drink?" Azura asked.

Her uncle was working late, so she had time to relax.

"No."

Back at the Lin family house, Saira had been waiting for news of Hector. Instead, she saw Zuri returning, looking casual.

"Why are you back?" Saira asked, disbelief coloring her voice.

Zuri raised an eyebrow and gave her a wicked look. "Can't I come back?"

Saira choked, her face showing anxiety and grievance as Zuri walked past. "Zuri, don't be mad, I didn't mean it."

Zuri looked at her coldly, like she was watching a clown. She stepped closer, her voice chillingly devoid of emotion. "Smell me. What do I smell like?"

Saira was taken aback, almost cursing. Was she insane?

Even without trying, she caught a faint scent of blood.

Seeing her frown, Zuri's lips curled up slightly. "What you smell is from the person who bled."

Saira's eyes widened in shock.

That smell was blood. If it was Hector's blood, then that means…

Seeing her dumbfounded expression, Zuri chuckled, swinging her bag as she walked past, her elegant yet arrogant figure leaving Saira fuming.

Clenching her fists, Saira restrained herself from tearing apart Zuri's smug face.

Zuri, one day, I'll make sure you die miserably!

Saira trembled with rage, while a few maids nearby shook their heads.

Late at night, a luxurious Rolls-Royce slowly drove into a private estate on a lake island and stopped in front of the villa.

Butler Qin stepped forward, opened the door, and stood respectfully to the side.

Leo got out of the car, handed over his bag, and continued walking. "Has Azura gone to bed?"

The butler replied, "Miss Azura hasn't slept yet."

Leo went upstairs and knocked on one of the doors. From inside came Azura's voice.

"Come in."

The large bedroom had a round bed in the center, surrounded by various stuffed animals. Azura was lying on the bed, intensely playing a game, oblivious to the approaching danger.

"Come on, guys, attack!"

"Damn, how can you be so bad? I'm about to die, healer, heal me."

"Hurry, hurry, move faster."

Just as she shouted excitedly, she felt a presence in the room. Turning around, she saw Leo standing there, and she dropped her phone in fright.

"Uncle, why are you back?" Azura stammered, trying to hide her phone under the blanket.

Damn it, wasn't he supposed to stay in the city apartment tonight? Sneaking back like this is cheating!

Leo sat on the sofa, crossing his legs and fixing her with a sharp gaze.

Azura obediently stood in front of him, ready for a scolding.

"Uncle, I'm sorry. I promise there won't be a next time," Azura said meekly.

"This is the last time."

Azura was overjoyed and nodded repeatedly. "Yes, definitely."

How strange, her uncle was being unusually lenient today. Could something good have happened?

"By the way, what's your classmate's name again?" Leo asked casually.

"She's called Zuri," Azura replied instinctively.

Realizing something was off, she squinted suspiciously. "Uncle, what are you planning?"

"Bring her here tomorrow," Leo ordered firmly.
