It was an ordinary summer day in 2024, and Jane Parker, a 28-year-old software developer, was rushing through the crowded streets of New York City. She had just received a notification on her phone about a critical bug in the company's latest app update and needed to fix it before the day ended. As she hurried towards her office, she decided to take a shortcut through a construction site, ignoring the warning signs.
The site was bustling with activity, cranes lifting heavy materials, and workers shouting instructions. Jane weaved through the chaos, focused on her phone, typing out urgent messages to her team. Suddenly, a loud cracking sound echoed through the site. A crane, overloaded and poorly maintained, snapped. The steel beam it was carrying plummeted towards the ground.
In the blink of an eye, Jane looked up and saw the massive beam hurtling towards her. She tried to jump out of the way, but it was too late. The beam struck her, and everything went black.
Jane's death was instantaneous, the impact leaving no chance for survival. Her last thoughts were a mix of regret and unfinished business, but before she could process them, her consciousness faded away.
When she next opened her eyes, she found herself in a strange, unfamiliar place. No longer human, she had been reincarnated as a slime in a fantastical world, a new journey beginning as she adapted to her new form and discovered her surprising abilities.
