Marcus, with adrenaline rushing through his body, wiped his face with the sleeve of his coat, careful not to let a single drop enter his mouth. He was a bit nervous after witnessing someone being decapitated, but Marcus had always been cool-headed, although he couldn't stop thinking about what had just happened.
The man with the knife said, Relax, kid. He was a familiar; he stopped being human a long time ago. It was you or him, and it was him.
Pushing aside his nervousness, Marcus stood up and began to inspect the body while the man in the leather jacket cleaned his knife with the vampire's clothes. Then he sheathed the knife and said, Kid, help me with this. We need to get rid of the body.
Marcus, foolishly, looked at him and thought the body would disappear like in the movies. But it didn't. The man began to drag the body to the entrance of the building. Fortunately, at that late hour of the night, no one was awake. Once outside, under the streetlights, Marcus saw that the head belonged to his neighbor Aston, of whom he knew very little. The thought that Aston had become a vampire was incredible.
After placing the decapitated body in the vehicle's trunk, the man with the knife looked at him and said, My name is Garph. Kid, it would be wise to pack your things and leave this building.
Marcus looked at him with a questioning expression and asked why. Garph replied, This is not a vampire; it's a familiar of a vampire. That means there could be more familiars around here, and that's not pleasant, or even the vampire itself.
Marcus thought for a moment and then asked, Can I go with you? He was a bit disoriented, as at some point since they started moving the corpse, a screen had appeared in the corner of his vision. At first, he thought it was a reflection of the light, but upon closer inspection, it was a status screen.
Garph said, I'm not a kind person, but for your help, why not give you a hand?
Once in the vehicle with Garph, Marcus had no idea where they were going. Still seeing the screen, he tried to make it disappear, and he succeeded, thinking he would investigate what it was later.
Seeing that Garph wasn't a very talkative person, Marcus was afraid to ask where they were going. Analyzing everything that had happened, he thought, Damn, vampires exist. He continued watching as Garph left the city and headed into the mountains until they reached a small bar.
Garph said, Kid, you know something? Marcus looked at him, and Garph continued, Not only do vampires exist; all kinds of monsters exist. This world is darker and more incredible than you think.
