Chapter 2 - Enrollment

Day has passed since he descended the snowy mountain. He curled up inside the carriage to seek warmth. The scenery he sees when walking is still the same inside from inside the carriage, but slowly that scenery soothes his eyes and Erik begins to relax.

After the predicament, in the middle of his journey. A carriage passed by and offered him a ride. He gladly accepted it, and with an exhausted body, he climbed and sat on the barren plank. The weary body began to kick in, and then Erik stumbled into a deep sleep no longer after sitting down.

After a while, he woke up, the hard wooden carriage made his whole body scream in pain. It's not a comfortable ride but the only thing he can do is accept it with open heart. Even if he knows there's a carriage after the tutorial stage, the fact that someone offered him a ride made him grateful for that encounter.

"...you're awake, boy?"

"Ah, yeah,"

"How it is?"

"It's bearable, I guess...."

With a laugh, the coachman says, "Hahaha, seems it's your first time riding a carriage,"

"So, where's you heading at?" Ask him.

"Magton, the city of mages...."

"To the Athea Magic Academy?"

"Yes, I've got the recommendation,"

"Hahaha, good luck then!"

As the conversation was over, Erik began to contemplate the situation.

As a player that plays the game, he knows much information about the game. With the game itself became reality, the knowledge he has is much more valuable than anything else. But, as far as he knows, he didn't bear detailed information except the main stories. He was just a hardcore player who only read the story if it was interesting and didn't bother to read all of it. The only thing that kept him playing the game was the frequent update of bosses, and the lore that one by one revealed, not the story that the game provided.

'If I knew that I would transmigrate to this world, I would read all the story the game has,....'

But, he didn't bother to mind it as he knew it was not possible to recall something that he didn't even know.

'Intervening the main story is inevitable,....'

'Because this became reality itself, maybe,....'

'I can save her,....'

Whether he likes it or not, he needs to know the story outline for progressing the game. He needs much information to advance into the end-game content. And as a normal player, Erik also has some character that piqued his interest.

Not as famous as the heroine and the playable character. The character itself just NPC that helped the player to advance from early to mid game. The character itself famous for her help and the tragic ending that befalls her later.

[ The unavoidable death event of the bard ]

But, before that, Erik needs to focus on the current predicament.

The enrollment of the Athea Magic Academy.

As he already got the recommendation letter, he is already qualified to take the enrollment test. Even as a magic academy, the test quality isn't focused on magic capacity. All of the tests he needs to do to enroll on the academy are merely just like a university test, it's a test based on score.

'Dang it, didn't know what the test is make me anxious,....'

His information on the test is scarce, the only thing that he can depend on is only his game knowledge. But, is the knowledge itself really useful in writing tests?

As he contemplates the situation he's in, he remembers about Erik's character.

[ Magic Engineering ]

As the name imprinted, [ Magic Engineering ] is a skill that allows Erik to create items. Based on the game setting, he needs to gather many materials and upgrade the skill level to use the skill freely. But, since it became a reality he was sure that those restrictions were impractical.

'Maybe I should make it, the dictionary,....'

One of the exclusive items that Erik can make is Dictio, an item that automatically records the player's knowledge in the book that only the owner can access.

'But, can I make it in other forms?'

'Maybe as a glasses?'

Times fly by as he plans his to-do list for the future before taking the test. As the sky slowly became dark he once again closed his eyes and went to sleep again.

The next day, in the middle of the town plaza he walks alone with nowhere in mind. He's been wandering the town to confirm the knowledge he has. After thanking the driver, he went ahead to the town plaza. As he walks, the hustle and bustle of the town greets him along the way.

For him to go to the Academy, he needs to board a skyship to the flying island and the schedule for that skyship to depart is three days later. Within that time limit, he wants to prepare for the entrance test.

'I only have 20 gold coins in my purse,'

After killing the mercenary, he looted their body and found 20 gold coins. Other than that, he took the boots that the mercenary equipped. Thinking about mobility and how much he can bring, that's the only thing he took from their corpse.

20 gold coins are already plenty enough, just 3 silver coins he can sleep with a bed and roof over his head. But, the material itself is just costly.

"I need to research the market price for the material,"

"What I need to buy is a pen, parchment, and glasses,"

In the game, the parchment itself can be treated as a luxury item in the early game. It's costly for the newbie to buy it, but it's necessary for him to make the Dictio.

"The higher the quality is the better, I need to treat this carefully because this is no more game,"

"If I'm not wrong, around the corner of the plaza, if we go down and take a left there should be a store with cheap price. I will buy the pen and ink there, and I'll buy the others in other stores,"

The time went by, the sun that lingered all day gradually hid itself beyond the horizon. The hustle and bustle of the town went silent, leaving the leisure footstep reverberating in the night.

Erik, with the material already in his hand, went into his inn room. He spread the material across the bed and took it one by one to the table.

"Dang it, the parchment is more costly than I thought,"

"I already spent 12 gold today, it's a given, thankfully I already rented the room for 3 days, so I can save the leftover,"

"The ship was free to begin with because of the recommendation letter I have,"

Without further ado, he moved his fingers and began to work.

With a pen in his hand, he engraves the formula that he needs into it. With nimble hands, he begins to engrave the formula into the parchment as if the pen itself dancing on top of the parchment. Like when he made the Blink Dagger, the formula that he needed abruptly popped out in his head and he just followed the feeling.

'Is this the effect of [ Magic Engineering ] skill?'

A smile can be seen on his face, he looks delighted with it.

When he finished, he placed the glasses he bought on the circle inside the parchment. When he activated it, the parchment itself glowed. Make the sight look like something magical. After the light subsided, Erik took the glasses and put them on.

The Dictio, is an item that stores a player's knowledge into a device as a record and can be accessed anytime. He needs this item to bypass the writing test, as he calls it an advanced method of cheating.

When he put it on, he thought it would be blank as it was a brand-new item but. To his surprise, the glasses themselves contain much more knowledge than he imagined. The knowledge that he knows is all stored in those small glasses, the thing that he will hard to remember all stored in it.

"....This is crazy,..."

"With this, I won't need to wreak my head,....."
