Chapter 315 - Chapter 315: Ninja Clan Children and Civilian Students

Luxury tonkotsu ramen? And with extra noodles, meat, and side dishes?

Hearing Shishou's unapologetic order, both Kiba and Sakura looked at him in astonishment.

Is Shishou treating this new instructor as a big spender to take advantage of?

Despite their thoughts, Kiba and Sakura still followed Shishou's lead and ordered a bowl of ramen each. However, they didn't dare to be as bold as Shishou, opting for regular chashu ramen and miso ramen without any additional extras.

Kurenai glanced at Shishou but said nothing, continuing to eat her ramen.

A few minutes later...

Ayame carefully placed a brimming bowl of ramen in front of Shishou. "Luxury tonkotsu ramen with extra noodles, meat, and side dishes."

Setting the ramen down, Ayame brought out a few more small dishes, including bamboo shoots, tofu, eggs, and sausage.

Kiba and Sakura, seeing Shishou's lavish order, felt a pang of regret for not ordering something similarly luxurious.

"Here are the tonkotsu ramen and miso ramen," Ayame said as she served Kiba and Sakura their bowls.

Shishou took his ramen and side dishes to another table, turning his back to Kurenai as he began to eat.

Kurenai, curious about what was under Shishou's mask, murmured her dissatisfaction but continued her meal.

Half an hour later, after Shishou, Kiba, and Sakura finished their ramen, Kurenai took a sip from a flask and addressed the trio:

"My name is Kurenai Yuhi, but you can call me Kurenai-sensei. I've read your profiles."

"You're either from ninja clans or civilian prodigies, so I'll be direct."

"We'll skip the bell test. I'm not interested in playing that game."

"Besides, apart from Sakura, you two from ninja clans already know what this test is about."

"So, there's no point in pretending."

Hearing Kurenai's blunt words, Kiba felt a bit embarrassed. As a child from a ninja clan, he had already heard about the bell test from his elders.

Sakura, however, looked puzzled, glancing at Shishou and Kiba for clarification.

Shishou explained, "Typically, after graduating from the academy, there's a bell test to assess teamwork within the three-man squad. Only when the team understands the importance of cooperation will they be officially recognized as graduates. Otherwise, they'll be sent back for additional training."

This information was common knowledge among ninja clan children. Therefore, it was usually the civilian students who failed and were sent back for retraining.

Kurenai furrowed her brows, glancing again at the masked Shishou. The boy's name and voice reminded her of that annoying guy who had flirted with her years ago. It was too much of a coincidence.

But considering Shishou's age, Kurenai dismissed the absurd thought from her mind. It was simply impossible.

Sakura, hearing Shishou's explanation, was stunned. For the first time, she felt the gap between ninja clan children and civilian students.

This common knowledge among ninja clan children already created a significant difference between them and civilian students.

Feeling a bit disheartened, Sakura clenched her fists slightly.

Was there no way for civilian students to rise?

Kurenai, seeing Sakura's expression, understood her thoughts and the reason for her frustration.

It was similar to how her basic genjutsu was always overshadowed by the powerful dojutsu genjutsu.

In the face of bloodline limits, hard work and effort sometimes weren't enough.

However, Kurenai didn't plan to console Sakura. She believed it would help Sakura accept reality—that some things couldn't be achieved through effort alone.

Since being 'rejected' by Shishou, Kurenai had mostly withdrawn, focusing on training and drinking, rarely participating in missions or other activities.

She hadn't wanted to take on the role of a mentor.

If it hadn't been for the Third Hokage's strict orders, she wouldn't have left her home.

Finishing the last of her sake, Kurenai stood up, her face slightly flushed.

"Let's go. Since we have nothing better to do, I'll take you to see the bell tests of other teams. It will help you understand what they entail."

Although she didn't want to play along with the test, Kurenai decided to fulfill her duty somewhat and give them a side view of teamwork.

In a few days, she planned to resign and return to her secluded life.

Seeing Kurenai put the flask back into her bag, Shishou frowned and said, "Kurenai-sensei, drinking isn't good for your health."

Though he wasn't sure if Kurenai's state was his fault, Shishou felt the need to remind her to take care of herself.

"That's none of your business," Kurenai retorted, glancing at Shishou before walking out the door.

"Let's go," she said.

Watching Kurenai's retreating figure, Shishou sighed slightly and followed her, heading towards the training grounds of Konoha.

Kiba and Sakura exchanged glances and quickly followed Shishou.

With Shishou's strength and talent, they both knew that he would naturally be the leader of their team.

Neither Kiba nor Sakura had any objections to this.

After all, even combined, they couldn't defeat Shishou, so why bother contesting?

Under Kurenai's guidance, the group arrived outside a training ground, climbing a large tree to watch other teams' bell tests through binoculars.

The binoculars were provided by Kurenai, who clearly had prepared for this shortcut.

"Over there is Kakashi's team, and there is Asuma's team, and over there... I can't remember."

"Pick one to watch," Kurenai said, lying on a branch and pointing in various directions before falling silent.

"Wow, Naruto has already learned the Shadow Clone Jutsu?" Kiba remarked, observing Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata's test through the binoculars.

Naruto's chakra control was notoriously poor, making it hard for him to perform the Clone Jutsu.

Yet, in Kiba's view, Naruto had created multiple clones.

"I heard Tsunade-sama gave him the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu, which creates physical clones and is perfect for Naruto's Uzumaki lineage," Shishou explained, also watching Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata.

Naruto had recently learned the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu, given to him by Tsunade at Kushina's request.

This technique had allowed Naruto to barely pass the graduation exam.

The reason he barely passed was that the Clone Jutsu test was meant to assess chakra control.

Using Shadow Clones, which evenly distributed chakra, was not the same as performing the actual Clone Jutsu.

Naruto's passing was a concession made by the examiners out of respect for Tsunade.
