Chapter twelve.
I have never felt concern about going home since I got married, but today was different. Heading back home and knowing that witch is now living with us sent shivers down my spine. As I drove inside and halted the car in the garage, Lionel also came in with his car. It seemed we got back together, or maybe it was intentional. I waited at work until it was the time he would be back. I didn't want to spend a minute with that witch without Lionel.
As I hopped out of the car, I waited for Lionel to park his car and embraced him with a hug as he got out. "Are you also just coming?"
"Yes, I am," I replied sharply.
"Why? You finished late today and that's really weird. What happened? Talk to me, girl," Lionel said, his voice laced with concern.
"Nothing, Leo. I finished at the usual time, but I decided to have some silent time at a playground nearby," I said.
"True, but maybe you went there instead of coming home because you want to avoid my mother," Lionel said, and I gave him a look that showed I was caught. "I get that living with her is really something else, but you can see this as an opportunity to show my mother who you truly are. Prove her wrong; let her see the real you," Lionel advised in a low tone.
I scoffed. "Really? This is hypocritical. You know your mother, and it's not as if she saw any bad side of me; she just decided to hate me."
"You think that was the case? She loved you from the start, but when she discovered that you were once a..." Lionel paused, unable to say the next word. He seemed to be engrossed in his statement and had just crossed the line.
"Once a what, Lionel?" I said, my voice laced with anger and sadness. "A prostitute, harlot, or whore? Tell me, Leo, before I was what? Finish it, Leo."
"I'm sorry, girl. I didn't mean to hurt you," Lionel said, his voice filled with perplexity and remorse.
"I get it; you didn't mean to, but you did," I said and walked away from him angrily. I headed inside, my anger evident in my face and walk. Every step I took was filled with anger, and Lionel watched as I walked away, seeming lost and aware that he had crossed the line.
I walked inside the mansion and headed to my bedroom without greeting anyone, including Mrs. Ramos, who seems to be coming from the living room, couldn't take a grasp of what she was doing but I was certain her eyes were on me as I ascend the stairs.
Lionel's POV
I exhale as I watched her walked away, she has never been angry at me the way she's angry right now. I know mentioning her would hurt me but I didn't mean to do that I was only try to tell her that there are better way of treating the situation the way she's treating it. She can't run from her forever they really need to understand each other and maybe it was a mistake I made letting my mother stay with us because I can't stand being in the middle of the both of them.
I walked inside and try to bury the concern evident in my face and voice.
"Good evening mom," I said as I set my eyes on her.
"Welcome," she said as she embraced me with a hug. "What's up between you and that thing, she didn't greet when she entered.
"Mom don't refer to her like that," I said with my voice stern and serious as we broke the hug.
"Okay, duly noted," she said as he raise her two hands up.
"Better, I'm coming let me go fix what I just did, we will come back together for dinner," I said and I ascend the stairs.
"You don't need to because I didn't make her meal," she said and as she made the statement I tilted back and face her while I was on the stairs and inquired angrily, "You did what again?"
"I didn't make her meal," she said sharply . "I told your chef not cook that I would be handling the meal and I did."
"What the heck mom! You told my chef not to cook which is not bad but you cooked my food and your own only," I said angrily. "Well it's fine, just eat your food me and her would go find another thing to eat else where."
I walked to the bedroom angrily and as I got to the door I heard her sobbing voice, I shook my head and released a deep breath before I finally open the door.
I walked in slowly; dragging my feet on the floor. I settle down beside her and took her two hands off her face. "Larissa hear me, I know I messed up out there and I said what I wasn't suppose to say. Guy I'm sorry and I really mean it, the last thing I want to see in y life right now is you in tears and you know why because you're the best thing that has ever happened to me and not even my mom can take fit in, in your position."
As I said that statement she looked at me and said, "Really?"
"Yes, no one can, not even her. She has no say over this marriage and believe no matter what happened I will always choose your side."
"Thank you Leo," she said and embraced me with a hug.
"And I want you to know something that all the words I said, none of them was said to flatter you, every bit of it, I meant it. And to really show that you forgive me, allow me to take you go have dinner at your favorite restaurant."
"Really? When?"
"This night girl, let's go have some fun tonight I already told mum we are not eating tonight and she's cool about it."
