Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Her face turned red from embarrassment and she felt a little guilt as she recalled how their first meeting went. He had given her the boots and other clothes before telling her about the crawlers and she had freaked out, literally fleeing from him. She had barely thanked him for the warning before telling him to skedaddle.

She had the rest of the clothes in her space but he didn't know that. He could only assume that she had tossed them but he didn't seem to be miffed about that in the least. She felt even guilter and tried to discreetly tug her feet out of his dotting hands but he didn't release her. She sighed.

"Mira?" he questioned, "Do you dislike it when I touch you?" He leaned in close and his rich chocolate scent flooded her senses. She wondered why he had to smell like her favourite dessert as her clit pulsed, her pussy getting wet. It was basically cheating. Saliva pooled in her mouth and she gulped, forcing herself to focus and not squeeze her thighs together.

"No. I just..." Her tongue darted out to wet her lower lip and his predatory gaze followed the movement before returning to her eyes. "I... I'm sorry I didn't listen to you earlier when you came to warn me about the crawlers. It was wrong of me and I still think you should've left me behind and saved yourself. I—"

"No, you don't need to apologise for that," he said, finally releasing her feet to place his hands on either side of her on the bed, leaning in even closer. "It's only natural for a female to be wary of strange males. And I would never leave you behind. It's my duty as a male to—" The rest of his words were muffled under her palms as she placed her hands over his mouth.

"Let me finish," she said, rolling her eyes, not buying his righteous act at all. He might look like an angel but even now he looked at her as if he wanted to eat her alive. "I don't know what your motives are... okay, maybe I do know."

He mumbled something behind her palms but didn't move to remove them. She raised a brow. He had carelessly risked his life for her and it was rather obvious that he was only thinking using his dick. He ultimately did it because he wanted to get in her pants, not that she was against the idea.

"Look," she continued, "What I'm trying to say is, well... I'm sorry for being a bitch and thanks for saving me. But don't risk your life for me again or else, we can't be friends and we really can't hang out together anymore. I'm really grateful so I'll forgive you just this once but I'll totally ditch you the next time you try that again. Also thanks for letting me borrow your clothes. I won't be returning them but still... you get the idea."

He mumbled something again and she ignored it, sighing in relief after letting it all out. See? Being a decent person wasn't too hard after all. With the weight lifted off her shoulders, she felt herself relax, the long day catching up to her. She raised a palm to her mouth, stifling a yawn. She then leaned back on the bed with her now free hand, the other still on his mouth as she looked at him with concern.

"Now, will you stop pretending that you're not tired so we can finally go to sleep?" she said, holding herself back from caressing his face. "You look like you haven't slept in weeks and I'm pretty beat too. Let's just go to bed and talk some more tomorrow, okay?"

She waited for him to nod but he licked her palm instead, his eyes sparkling in amusement. She quickly dropped her hand from his lips, watching as his wet tongue sensually trailed across the curve of his lips before he simply said, "Okay." She smiled.

He stood up and went to pull the fur coverings on the bed aside. She immediately crawled to the other side of the bed, mildly disappointed that he chose the side of the bed that she wanted to sleep on too. She marvelled at how big the bed was, knowing that she would have struggled to climb up if he hadn't carried her there.

"Come here," he called to her just as she lay down. She rolled onto her left side to face him and realised that he had been arranging the bedding for her.

"No, my feet are dirty. You can get inside and I'll lie over the covers. Don't mind me. I'm actually used to sleeping in flower— outdoors," she said.

She hadn't finished talking when he vanished from the spot. She only caught his shadow as he went through a doorway that she had assumed led to the bathroom. She was about to facepalm at the slip of her tongue but then he was already hovering over her side of the bed. He sat down beside her, a damp towel in hand.

"May I?" he asked and she quickly nodded, hoping he didn't find anything suspicious with what she had said. She went to sit up but he held her left ankle, lifting her foot so that she could only lean back on her elbows. She watched him as he carefully wiped it clean before moving to her right leg and doing the same.

"Thanks," she said once he was done.

"It's my pleasure," he replied with a grin, looking into her eyes as he lowered his head. He pressed his soft lips to the top of her foot, giving her a light kiss as his hot breath fanned across her toes. And then he licked her. She squeaked and jumped, accidentally kicking him in the face. He dropped her leg, a hand to his face.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry Rex! Are you hurt?" she asked in a panic, getting up on her knees.

"Ah... No, I'm perfectly fine," he said, standing up. "Did that make you uncomfortable? Sorry, I totally deserved that."

"N-no, I didn't mean to do that," she said, standing on the bed to reach his height, pulling his hand away from his face to see if he was truly fine. "You just surprised me and m-my foot's dirty," she said dumbly.

"Your foot's not dirty, I just cleaned it," he said, actually laughing. "And I wouldn't mind even if it was." She couldn't believe what she was hearing. He tried to wrap an arm around her but she scrambled away.

"N-no! You can't lick my foot!" What was he? A dog? Okay, that was a rhetorical question. She scampered to the other side of the bed and quickly got under the covers. "It's late. I'm going to sleep. You can stay right there!" He laughed some more.

"Okay, go to sleep. I'll stay right here and keep watch over you."

"What?" She turned and peeped out of the fur blanket to look at him. "I meant that you can take that side of the bed. Come on, there's plenty of room. This bed's big enough for an elephant to sleep on."

"I'm an evolved male, Mira. I don't need slee..." he suddenly trailed off and she looked at him in question before it dawned on her. She had been so distracted that she forgot about dangers right outside their door.
