Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Relentless IV(Final) : Desperate Strategy

When Malakai and Akira looked at the Frost Walker, they knew they had to go all out, if they didn't, this may cost their life, or worse, Amari would die.

Akira still hadn't used her triumph card, the Feral Mark. She knew once she activated it, she might stand a chance.

But it was the same with Malakai, as he had the Battle Fury ability, but he didn't know how to activate it.

The Frost Walker walked closer.

Malakai's heart beat fast as he began circling the Frost Walker, his paws light on the snow.

The creature's eyes followed him, its gaze cold and calculating. "Is this your master plan, haa, I expected more from strategic hunters," it taunted.

Akira's eyes narrowed, her ears folded back in annoyance.

She knew the Frost Walker was trying to get under their skin, to make them lose focus.

But she wouldn't let that happen. She began to circle the creature from the other side.

The Frost Walker's gaze darted back and forth, its eyes flicking between Malakai and Akira.

It laughed again, a cold, mirthless sound. "You think you can outsmart me? even with my power limited. You are no match for me."

Malakai's fur stood on end, his hackles raised.

He knew the Frost Walker was trying to intimidate them. He continued to circle the creature, his eyes fixed on its weak points.

Akira did the same, her eyes locked on the Frost Walker's eyes, her mind think of a strategy strategy.

Amari, sensing the rising tension, crept away, her tail tucked between her legs.

She knew her place in this battle, and she was content to let her family handle it.

She found a safe spot to hide, her ears perked up, listening to the battle unfold.

The Frost Walker took another step closer, its legs skittering across the snow.

Malakai and Akira exchanged a quick glance, their hearts beating in unison. They knew the time for strategy was over. It was time for action.

The Frost Walker was confused, its four spider-like legs shaking as it tried to look at Malakai and Akira at the same time.

Its cold breath made the air feel freezing, and its eyes glowed bright blue with anger. Malakai saw his mother in danger and knew he had to do something.

With a brave cry, he jumped on one of the Frost Walker's legs, his small teeth digging in. But the leg was too hard, and he couldn't break it.

The Frost Walker was furious that Malakai had attacked it, and it raised one of its legs to strike him.

Malakai's eyes went wide as he saw the leg coming down fast.

Just as the Frost Walker was about to attack, Akira jumped forward with a fierce growl and bit down on its leg.

She held tight, pulling the creature to the ground. The Frost Walker tried to get up, but Akira was too strong.

She wanted to protect her family, so she tapped into her inner power.

A red mark appeared on her forehead, and her eyes gleamed with a fierce intensity.

Her muscles bulged with new strength, and her jaws became powerful enough to crush bone.

With a mighty roar, Akira bit down harder, her teeth scraping against the icy leg.

The sound of cracking ice filled sounded in their ears like music.

Finally, the leg snapped loudly, breaking into pieces and sending icy shards flying everywhere.

The Frost Walker screamed in pain, its voice a chilling wail that sent shivers down their spines.

It had never felt pain before, and it was both shocked and enraged.

Its eyes, once empty of emotion, now burned with a anger as it turned its attention to Akira, forgetting Malakai for the moment.

Its remaining legs moved faster and more fiercely, stabbing and slashing at the air as it attacked Akira.

She dodged and weaved, her movements quick and agile.

The ground beneath them became slippery with frost and blood, each impact sending up sprays of icy debris.

Malakai saw his mother struggling desperately.

He couldn't let her face this monster alone, so he gathered his courage and jumped at another of the Frost Walker's legs, biting down hard.

...

As Malakai continued to attack, his jaws clenched tight around the Frost Walker's leg, he could feel the creature's icy surface beneath his teeth.

Despite his efforts, he knew his bite wasn't strong enough to break the leg like his mother had done, but he refused to give up.

He wanted to add weight to the Frost Walker's arachnid legs, to pull them down and hinder its movements.

Malakai held tight as the Frost Walker raised its leg, lifting him off the ground.

He dangled in the air, his body swaying precariously, but he refused to let go.

The Frost Walker brought its leg down, and Malakai felt a rush of adrenaline as he was crushed beneath its weight.

Everything went black.

Or maybe it was better to say everything turned red.

Malakai's mind was lost in a haze of pain and confusion, but he felt his body fill with an amazing power.

It was as if his very cells were igniting with a fierce energy, coursing through his veins like liquid fire.

Outside, the Frost Walker had focused its attention back on Akira, who had managed to break one of its legs and leave it standing on three.

But Malakai was not to be underestimated. As he lay there, his furry body began to glow with a faint red light.

Red dots appeared around him, pulsing with an otherworldly energy.

Slowly, Malakai's body began to move, his limbs twitching as he struggled to stand.

The red particles surrounding him grew brighter, more intense, as he rose to his feet.

He went for the bite, his jaws wide open as he attempted to break the Frost Walker's leg once and for all.

But it was too strong.

So Malakai did the only thing he could - he pulled. He pulled down with all his might, using every ounce of strength he possessed.

The Frost Walker's leg buckled beneath his weight, and the creature let out a deafening screech as it lost its balance and crashed to the ground.

Akira took advantage of the momentary distraction, her eyes fixed on the Frost Walker's remaining legs.

With a fierce cry, she launched herself at the creature, her teeth bared as she bit down with all her might.

The Frost Walker's legs snapped and cracked beneath her jaws, its body thrashing wildly as it realized too late that it was beaten.

Malakai, unlike his mother, didn't go for the legs, knowing he couldn't break them. Instead, he went for something he could do - the upper body.

With a fierce determination, he launched himself at the Frost Walker's head, his mouth open wide as he could.

He bit hard, his teeth sinking into the icy skull, and the Frost Walker let out a blood-curdling scream as its skull began to crack.

The sound of cracking ice filled his ears, and Malakai's jaws tightened as he bit down harder.

The Frost Walker's screams grew louder, more desperate, as its skull began to shatter into a thousand pieces. And then, in an instant, it was over.

The skull broke into blue ice glittering sand, and the Frost Walker's body slumped to the ground, lifeless.

As the creature died, Malakai couldn't help but look at himself.

His body was bloody, his fur ripped off in places, and his skin underneath was exposed.

He was a mess, and his mother wasn't any better. Akira was even worse off, her fur drenched with blood and her body covered in wounds.

Looking at their scars, Malakai couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.

And as he let out a mighty howl, his voice echoed through the forest.

Akira followed, her howl harmonizing with Malakai's, and then the young Amari joined in, their voices blending together in a chorus of triumph and joy.

And as the howls faded away, the forest was silent once more,

DING!!

[QUEST ACCOMPLISHED]
